Come on, guys. It's Solstheim. — Unsigned comment by 67.235.225.158 (talk) at 16:04 on 5 November 2012‎

Yep, you're correct. Thanks! eshetalk 16:07, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

Rieklings

I think those goblins are rieklings. They look like them and the rieklings also use wathogs as mounts. — Unsigned comment by 82.73.72.148 (talk) on 5 November 2012

Yep—looks like someone else agrees, too. The page has already been updated :). Thanks! eshetalk 16:18, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
Rieklings are Snow-Goblins right? I think Beth has answered this question with this dlc. — Unsigned comment by 74.45.34.89 (talk) at 16:59 on 5 November 2012‎
Everywhere it says they're some type of snow elf?, when that's proven wrong those pages should be updated. — Unsigned comment by Winch1990 (talkcontribs) at 17:25 on 5 November 2012‎
Whose to say Snow Elf evolution didn't take yet another branch? The Riekling lore page currently says "The native Nords believe they are descended from the Falmer". That's quite different from actually saying they are some type of snow elf, and the DLC may reiterate this suspicion, not contradict or confirm it. The pages will certainly be updated with new information, though, on or after Dec. 4. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 17:35, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
I thought the results of the Search for the Snow Elves quest in Bloodmoon concluded that the Rieklings weren't descended from the Falmer? Also, Winch1990, the reason the Rieklings are still included on pages for the Falmer is because of the belief the belief that they are descended from the Falmer. As to whether or not they're a separate branch of the Falmer that evolved into a different species like the ones that took refuge with the Dwemer - we'll just have to see. LoveWaffle (talk) 17:44, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
If Goblins are considered an Elf relation, then no matter what the proper term for a Riekling would be "snow goblin". — Unsigned comment by Winch1990 (talkcontribs) at 17:48 on 5 November 2012

Dunmer Village Symbol

The map-marker symbol to the right look like a dunmer building from Ald Rhun. These buildings were also present in the preview. I belive these map-markers indicate a dunmer village on Solstheim, similar to an Orc Stronhold in Skyrim. When the Red Mountain erupted, it's safe to asume that many dark elves sought refuge on Solstheim.Lucky wraith (talk) 16:13, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

Which marker? Also, speculation LoveWaffle (talk) 17:23, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
The one on the right (in the circle on the main article). And it actually does—look at File:MW-place-Ald'ruhn 02.jpg. eshetalk 17:34, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
For the record, wasn't claiming the fact that they're similar to Redoran architecture was speculation, but the "similar to an Orc Stronghold in Skyrim" statement. LoveWaffle (talk) 17:57, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
You are right LoveWaffle, it was spectulation to say that it might be similar to an orc stronhold. My apologies. 80.202.129.248 19:02, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

Enemy Types in Trailer

Also, can anyone identify these three enemy types:

  • Aquatic-type creature seen at 0:57
  • Floating creature at 1:01, looks sort of like an Ascended Sleeper
  • Two zombie-like creatures at 1:03 (Corprus beasts?)

LoveWaffle (talk) 16:44, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

The first one I have have no idea about. The two others could be as you say an ascended sleeper and corprus/ash monsters. However, the first monster ( with tentacles from it's mouth) seems to have some sort of Falmer braces and boots. Lucky wraith (talk) 16:50, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
Is it just me or was there a mind flayer/Illithid in that trailer? Lord Nordeck (talk) 23:45, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
The mind flayer/illithid-like creature is an Ascended Sleeper. At 1:03 is corprus, yes. Vely►t►e 00:03, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
I REALLY want to believe you, but do you have a source on that? Something found in the 1.8 files, something a developer said, etc. LoveWaffle (talk) 04:24, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
Based on similarities to Morrowind, yes. Also, netches were in the trailer, at least one bull netch. Other than that, we have nothing to go off of, but the very, very strong resemblance is pretty much all I need. The page currently says that things are hinted at, so hinting at something with a similar appearance doesn't seem far off to me. Vely►t►e 17:27, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
In the Update.bsa (the Fallout Archive Utility is a tool to extract data from it) there is a file meshes/animationdatasinglefile.txt . Among other things it contains the strings "NetchProject.txt", "RieklingProject.txt", "ScribProject.txt", "HMDaedra.txt" (HM=Hermaeus Mora?), "MiraakSword.txt". --Alfwyn (talk) 18:22, 6 November 2012 (GMT)

Another Realm?

In the trailer, at 0:46, 0:51, 0:57, and 1:24, the setting is some place with odd architecture and a green sky. Can anyone confirm what that place is? LoveWaffle (talk) 17:07, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

If it's in the patch files, I imagine someone would have added it to the article by now. We'll just have to wait for more files or further information. eshetalk 17:12, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

Apocrypha

Was that Hermaeus Mora's Realm shown in the trailer right? — Unsigned comment by 74.45.34.89 (talk) at 11:06 on 5 November 2012

0:40-0:45 suggests that the PC enters some kind of new realm through a book, and The Doors of Oblivion and some other writings suggest Hermaeus Mora and his Plane of Oblivion are linked to the written word. That's all we can say for the moment. Speculate on the forums, please; this page is for discussion of possible page alterations. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 17:19, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
New official details included traveling into a daedric realm. Source finals from 1.8 indicate the Apocrypha, clues such as the books from trailer and details confirm this.
Should make note of Hermaeus' realm on page (even if Hermaeus Mora does not appear directly or as we know yet) — Unsigned comment by Winch1990 (talkcontribs) at 17:42 on 15 November 2012‎

Give it its own namespace

I think this should be moved to Dragonborn:Dragonborn. It adds a whole new region (Solstheim) to Skyrim. All the other plugins that add a new region get their own namespaces. TorchicBlaziken (talk) 23:57, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

This is currently under discussion on the community portal. We have a month to decide on whether it is big enough or separate enough to warrant it's own space. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:08, 6 November 2012 (GMT)

Relation between dragon priest of the video and Kahvozein's Fang

In Skyrim in the college of Winterhold, the Master Ritual quest for Alteration involves the mentioned dagger, which is said to be used to retrieve dragon heartscales. In the dlc video, it is mentioned the Dragon Priest "devours" dragons, which could mean the soul of the dragon like dovahkiin, or literally. It seems a possible explanation of the meaning of that part of the video. Any comments would be appreciated, as it may actually be involved in the DLC. — Unsigned comment by Moi961 (talkcontribs) at 17:56 on 6 November 2012 (GMT)

No relation. The trailer explicitly states that the dragon priest was the first Dragonborn. —Legoless (talk) 18:03, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
Well, it is unknown is the dagger was used previous to the first dragonborn. What is for sure it is that dragon priest appeared before the first dragonborn. That is why I thought both concepts could be somehow related, as both imply using a dragon by part of a dragon priest. It's just a possibility, but, who knows? If I'm wrong then use something that contradicts my theory. The dragon priest being the first Dragonborn doesn't imply Kahzovein's Fang isn't involved. — Unsigned comment by Moi961 (talkcontribs) at 15:51 on 22 November 2012‎

Last of Telvanni?

I moved the following addition from the page to here:

During the Quest "Distant Memories" we learn that Riften's merchant Brand-Shei is actually Brandyl Telvanni, the last living heir to his clan. This seems to contradict the presence of a Telvanni settlement in Solstheim. As of yet there is no official explanation given to this discrepancy.

--Alfwyn (talk) 20:16, 6 November 2012 (GMT)

Ok, I see him called "Brandyl, son of Lymdrenn and sole living heir to House Telvanni.". For me that looks like he is the last of the ruling family, not the last of House Telvanni in general. Anyway, whoever wrote that, may just have been mis-informed too. --Alfwyn (talk) 20:27, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
Yeah, that quest for Brand-Shei is pretty misleading. House Telvanni is still very much in existence, if only culturally. —Legoless (talk) 20:31, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
The accuracy of the journal that claims Brand-Shei is the last of House Telvanni is suspect. The journal does clearly claim he was the last, but the person who wrote that had no way of knowing if there truly were any other Telvanni left. It was written during the sacking of some Telvanni fortress during which he was almost certainly killed, so the author had no way to verify his belief that his House was destroyed. As my understanding of lore (I can't remember the exact source) says that House Telvanni was completely routed off of Morrowind, but not destroyed, it seems reasonable to assume that Lymdrenn Tenvanni simply died during a battle, and didn't live to see his House make it through the conflicts that eradicated a large amount of Morrowind. With the additional benefit of us knowing there are Telvanni locations on Solstheim, it would be best to assume that the journal is merely inaccurate, and that Telvanni survives. As such, I'm opposed to readding the note. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:05, 6 November 2012 (GMT)
"No, I suppose we haven't [met]. Brelyna Maryon, of House Telvanni. First of my family to leave Morrowind in a long time." Nuff said. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:11, 6 November 2012 (GMT)

Word at the end

Anyone figured out the lyrics to the chant at the end? Sounded like a part of the Dragonborn's song to me. 117.207.92.111 05:26, 7 November 2012 (GMT)

Armor links

Why do the links for the listed armors on this article go to Morrowind pages? — Unsigned comment by 86.99.66.157 (talk) at 10:55 on 10 November 2012

We have no information on the new armor, but some of it appeared in Morrowind's expansion, Bloodmoon, so there is some related information there. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:13, 10 November 2012 (GMT)
I have Bloodmoon and I did see in the trailer there was Stalhrim or Ice Armor worm. But I wonder how this will be crafted since ice in a smelter or forge does not seem right. I know it maybe too early to know the answer. — Unsigned comment by 71.17.254.28 (talk) at 02:30 on 11 November 2012
It's not actually ice. A forge would probably work fine, although mining and crafting with stalhrim is supposed to be a mysterious local art. —Legoless (talk) 03:00, 11 November 2012 (GMT)
It'd be like how Glass Armor and Weapon's aren't actually made of glass, they are malachite. So it'd be called Ice Armor but would really be the mineral known as Stalhrim.--Dro'Bakha (talk) 07:22, 11 November 2012 (GMT)
If that's the case, then maybe Stahlrim can only be worked at a particular forge, similar to the Skyforge and the Ancient Nord/Nord Hero sets. Spiegel1 (talk) 19:33, 12 November 2012 (GMT)
While Stahlrim is nicknamed "ice armor", isn't Stahlrim really a type of crystal? Also I do not think I saw Stahlrim armor in the trailor, I saw Skaal type armor, and something that looked like a magical translucent layer on top of another armor set, bounded daedric armor or something? — Unsigned comment by 74.45.34.89 (talk) at 01:10 on 13 November 2012

() Stahlrim is indeed a type of crystal: see the Bloodmoon article on Raw Stalhrim. Its existence was hinted at by the leaked files found in the 1.8 Patch. Although I am speculating, I too suspect that it will require a special forge to use, just like Ancient Nord and Nord Hero equipment can only be made at the Skyforge, and Crossbows can only be made at the forge in Fort Dawnguard. • JAT 01:35, 13 November 2012 (GMT)

@74.45.34.89: You can see Stalhrim armor in the trailer at 1:05 when the hero wearing it slays one of the hostile Dovahkiin's minions. Shimenawa (talk) 02:37, 13 November 2012 (GMT)

New weapon types

In the video at 1:05 the player is wearing what I'm assuming is Ice/Stalhrim armor, but he's also got a different sword which looks like the same material as the armor. I'm wondering if new sets of weapons will be added with the new dlc along with the armor, and if it's worth mentioning on the main page. Apod (talk) 17:31, 12 November 2012 (GMT)

We'll know after more info comes out. We know spears will be included, except in the trailer we only see Rieklings using them so far. Not impossible that we may get some new weapons along with armors types. We just need more details at this point. — Unsigned comment by 74.45.34.89 (talk) at 22:25 on 12 November 2012
Stalhrim weapons have been confirmed. — Unsigned comment by Winch1990 (talkcontribs) at 17:51 on 15 November 2012‎

From a video I watched, you can only use the spears as arrows... — Unsigned comment by DaD3ATHBR1NG3R (talkcontribs) at 22:25 on 4 December 2012

Ordinator Armor

One of the armors in the trailer looks borderline identical to Ordinator / Indoril armor. Should it be added to the page?--Ghilz (talk) 20:03, 15 November 2012 (GMT)

Hate to say it, but I don't think it's Ordinator. It looks more like Bonemold, judging by this screenshot here. Spiegel1 (talk) 22:04, 30 November 2012 (GMT)

Antagonist

do we know for sure the first dragonborn will be an antagonist? or is it just speculation, becuase that's what it says on the page currently and speculative content isn't allowed if i'm correct — Unsigned comment by JCsquared (talkcontribs) at 00:51 on 19 November 2012

A quote from the official site, "face off against your deadliest adversary – the first Dragonborn." Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:58, 19 November 2012 (GMT)
According to elderscrolls.net his name is Miraak (containing the elements: Mir - loyalty, dedication, аllegiаnсe; Aаk - guide, conductor); Should add though that I had to run the post through an online translator since I don't speak Russian. -Shimenawa (talk) 21:49, 22 November 2012 (GMT)
Elderscrolls.net is a fan run site, much like our own but in Russian. Miraak is a name in the files that is part of "Miraak Temple" or "Temple of Miraak" depending on where you are. There also seems to be a "Miraak death animation" file in patch 1.8. The Russian site is the only one "claiming" that this is the Dragonborn's name, but that's only through online translators, so it may just be a translation error in grammar. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:12, 22 November 2012 (GMT)
Well, when the main game was still in development they were the first ones to get their hands on insider pics from exclusive press kits so who knows? They could be right after all. We'll see it for ourselves soon enough! And since they already acquired the highest resolution version of the hostile dragonborn's pre-release shot I am inclined to believe them on this one. -Shimenawa (talk) 22:25, 22 November 2012 (GMT)
As am I. It might be speculative, but so is most of the information we have. Seems like there's enough evidence to support it. —Legoless (talk) 23:23, 28 November 2012 (GMT)

Silt Striders

Saw a Silt Stider in a new leaked photo from Dragonborn (no joke, they're there). Obviously they are used as transport in Morrowind, but they are animals so are they considered non hostile? I know they don't attack anyway, but they don't do much else but traveling.

They could be used as transport but I doubt it will be needed in Solstheim. In any case, it is really just speculation and Dragonborn is out in 2 days anyway. RIM (talk) 21:42, 2 December 2012 (GMT)

X360A Article <- If anyone wants to read, as I'm not sure on the policy about adding leaked Information, I'll leave it here for those curious - Emoboy64 14:37, 3 December 2012 (GMT)

Our policy is to only present information that has been confirmed by Bethesda (or can otherwise be confirmed without a shadow of a doubt). Although quite frankly, all of that information looks like it's spot-on, we try to keep any and all unsourced info off of the articles. Once Dragonborn is released, odds are all of that information will be added, but we still try to be careful. • JAT 14:50, 3 December 2012 (GMT)
Come tomorrow, feel free to use any leaked information in the absence of game data or gameplay experience. Regardless of any possible errors which may arise from leaks, it's a common courtesy to Bethesda to avoid using leaked information, especially info from beta testers, so it should be avoided before release. —Legoless (talk) 21:09, 3 December 2012 (GMT)

  • Neloth; About this guy I am not sure he is some sort of Telvanni (not that far)

Equipment

Didn't get to play it much yet, but got confronted by some Cultists after leaving a dungeon-- this is the encounter that starts the quest "Dragonborn". Killed them, they all dropped Cultist gear: a robe and boots that aren't armor (robe has 75% magicka regen on it), a mask that's heavy armor, and gloves that are light armor, all named "Cultist's X". All also had Orcish daggers and one dropped a note that advances the quest. 76.187.151.6 19:48, 4 December 2012 (GMT)

Respec

It would seem that at the end of the main story line of DragonBorn one of the Black Books grants you the ability to remove all perks from skill trees (e.g. smithing, archery, ect.). Whether or not this can be repeated, or used on multiple trees I have not tested. My character had all the perks in the correct places so I had no need to use this new feature. I believe that this was however, a much needed feature. As without this there is no way to rectify adding points into a tree or perk you later find less useful. I do hope this can be repeated as many times as desired. I do know that one of the Black Books empowers your Fire, Frost or Unrelenting Force shouts, and that can be returned to and switched out at any time (like meditating with Paarthurnax).Griffmstr (talk) 11:14, 5 December 2012 (GMT)

It can be returned to, and it's a tad on the broken side. For a few dragon souls, you can fill your alchemy, smithing, or enchanting skill, then make some powerful weapons or armor, or even just use a fully loaded experimenter perk to learn the effects of every ingredient, then simply undo it all and put those perks elsewhere afterwards. And to top it off the book returns you to where you left off, right in front of all the skill choices. However I'll admit it is nice to be able to play around completely change the 'everything' about your characters. At level 81 the perks are the only thing differentiating your skills. — Unsigned comment by 75.157.164.100 (talk) at 21:53 on 8 December 2012 (GMT)

Ash Spawn

Are Ash Spawn Undead creatures? — Unsigned comment by Winch1990 (talkcontribs) at 08:49 on 6 December 2012‎

I don't know if in game files they are but according to folks in DB they are victims of the Red Mountain eruption who have come back. In the Old Friends quest Master Neloth's former apprentice Lldari Sarathril can raise them/create them due an experiment in which her heart was replaced with a Heart Stone (Which are chunks of Red Mountain) and as she puts it in her journals she can beckon them from the Ash to come forth since the Ash Spawn are made of Ash, Heart Stone, and through her stone they are somehow connected (She also mentions being able to speak to the spirits of the Ash Spawn and they speak to her as well). My guess is that too they are spirits of victims manifested/conjured up as Ash/Heart Stone creatures.--Lore Master (talk) 09:15, 6 December 2012 (GMT)

Unable to use activators/papyrus scripts not working?

Whenever I try to use a scripted activator, or when any scripted action is supposed to occur, it takes a ridiculous amount of time for it to happen. For example, when I finished a black book quest, after activating the book at the end, it took 2 minutes to open, and after it opened it took another 2 minutes for the ability selector things to appear.--Oblivion687 (talk) 00:42, 7 December 2012 (GMT)

Anyway, the first quest in the main Dragonborn questline requires that either The Way of the Voice or Horn of Jurgen Windcaller are completed (unconfirmed which one) in order to begin. However, you can travel to the Windhelm docks and find Gjalund Salt-Sage on a new ship there even if you haven't been attacked by cultists. You'll still be able to discover most locations and do many side quests. — ABCface 04:36, 8 December 2012 (GMT)

Events from Morrowind

Will there be any mention of the events that took place during the elder scrolls three such as the the fate of Vivec, the tribunal, the Neverviene (misspelled?) etc etc. — Unsigned comment by 64.39.92.68 (talk) at 05:56 on 8 December 2012

I don't have the DLC yet, but my guess is nothing more then what is normally in the game.--Dro'Bakha (talk) 14:48, 8 December 2012 (GMT)
We learn that, after the disappearance of the Tribunal, the Temple was reformed and the Tribunes were made into saints. No info on the Nerevarine, other than possible confirmation that the canon Nerevarine was male. —Legoless (talk) 15:53, 8 December 2012 (GMT)

does dragonborn add any new perment followers — Unsigned comment by Tlrd (talkcontribs) at 20:22 on 8 December 2012‎

Check This category for the followers Dragonborn adds. This list isn't yet complete, however. The Thirsk Mead Hall also has Rieklings that may be the player's follower if you complete the quest 'The Chief of Thirsk Hall'. LoftedAphid86 21:14, 8 December 2012 (GMT)
