Rewards[edit]

Going to post the rewards here first, as I've not completed the dungeon yet. (Still have to get 2 more gems.) I'll move it to the main page after I've finished it (If someone else doesn't do it first.)

Completing the first fight nets you a Dwarven Spider follower.
Completing the second fight nets you a Dwarven Sphere follower.

Reaver Leader?[edit]

I came here with the Nchardak and Silt Strider gems to see if I could figure out what to do with them. There was the dead guy in the tent outside (not sure what his deal is) and two generic (lowest level) Reavers inside, who were probably not this "leader" since I'm at level 80. I killed them, found nothing interesting on their corpses, poked around for a bit (not seeing the gem pattern plaque on the door), and left. I never saw any other Reavers, and this was my first time entering the ruin, though I had discovered it a while back. After finding the third gem (Fahlbtharz) I came back, but there is still no Reaver with two gems, just one of the corpses left over from before. Am I looking in the wrong place? If not, does anyone know of any other gems I could acquire to open door three, since I either missed my opportunity to get gems four and five or never had a chance to begin with? Thanks. I looked on another site that said the leader is supposed to be a Reaver Lord, and I am certain I never encountered him. I think this must be a bug. Pretty lame to have to do so much online research to get through a simple side quest. Takes me back to the early days after Skyrim's release - not in a good way. On the plus side, I can still cheat my way through the third door to the reward for the quest using the Whirlwind Sprint glitch. Username12345 (talk) 22:09, 13 December 2012 (GMT)
I'm pretty sure this is a leveled boss as I encountered a Reaver Marauder and I'm lvl 52. --50.70.145.198 19:49, 8 February 2013 (GMT)
The two reavers are definitely leveled, see DB02662f and DB0374d2. — ABCface 02:31, 9 February 2013 (GMT)
There's definitely a bug in play here: Played through with one character, no issues, everything happened the way it was supposed to. Got a pretty black bow. Another time through with a different character, I killed the Reaver Lord and a lower level Reaver at Kagrumez when I first discovered the ruin. No gems on either body. There was no gem at Fahlbtharz, nor was there one in Nchardak. The silt strider attendant did have one for sale, but it seemed pointless to purchase it. Subsequent visits to all the ruins didn't change anything. Still no gems. If the Reaver Lord doesn't have the gems on him [or if he isn't there at all], don't waste your time. — Unsigned comment by 108.74.182.168 (talk) at 04:44 on 20 July 2014
Looking at the code in the Creation Kit, it looks like if the reaver boss doesn't have them for whatever reason, they'll be inside, in front and to the left of the control console. Of course, if you've done anything in there like casting an area spell, they could well have been blasted to who knows where. Robin Hood  (talk) 17:47, 20 July 2014 (GMT)

Busted Centurion[edit]

The Centurion in the last room looks like it would be friendly like the spider or the sphere but a cave-in destroyed him and his spawn. It could make interesting trivia or something if this is confirmed or agreed with. — Unsigned comment by 66.245.199.38 (talk) at 07:15 on 17 December 2012‎

The spider and sphere are "Steadfast" and the Centurion is not, therefor I would say highly unlikely.
It is more likely he is supposed to be the last challenge but was destroyed in the cave-in. --50.70.145.198 19:44, 8 February 2013 (GMT)
A Steam Centurion follower wouldn't be very practical anyhow. They're too big to fit in many places, so it'd have real difficulty following you around. Now if they reduced it to the size they were back in Morrowind (roughly human-height), it'd make more sense, but it'd be an obvious inconsistency from all other Steam Centurions in the game. No dude![edit]

When I went to buy the last gem off of the dude attending the silt strider, he wasn't there. I even checked the strider (just in case). No luck. Any help on how I can get the last of the three? — Unsigned comment by 184.88.12.130 (talk) at 15:38 on 5 January 2013

Hmm, have you checked the Sun Stone nearby? I've never seen him there, but it's a possibility. — ABCface 02:35, 9 February 2013 (GMT)
Even if you can't find him at all, you can still complete this quest. You only need 4 out of 5 of the gems. TheRealLurlock (talk) 02:04, 12 February 2013 (GMT)

accessing higher areas[edit]

Once the waves are defeated, and having seen that during said waves some opening might be accessible, is there a way to actually access them once it's all cleared up ? I tried to input Resonance Gems again (it's possible), for the same patterns. It brings nothing. Activating the two levers again (also possible), produces nothing. Anyone reached the 3 other higher areas ? 82.124.132.166 18:46, 11 February 2013 (GMT)

The last room leads to a balcony overlooking the main chamber. From there, you can get to one of these openings (on the left as you look out from the balcony) using a Whirlwind Sprint (I think you'll need all three words). I couldn't get to the other two this way, but I levitated to them using the TCL code from the console. There's nothing up there of any interest, though. Just dead-end passages with no loot of any kind. (Unless you killed one of the automatons while it was still up there, in which case you can loot its corpse for the usual scrap metal, etc., but nothing really special.) Higher levels in 1st room.[edit]

Twice now, I've had an issue with mobs getting stuck in the halls at the top of the room. I've had to lob arrows in there to get them to aggro, but it took forever to figure out they were up there. I say twice, because I did not at first realize two of the 'mobs' were friendly, so I went back to get them. :D

Moved from article[edit]

  • It is possible to obtain more than 5 Kagrumez Resonance Gems by getting the Gem from Fahlbtharz then completing the Ancient Technology. If you're sent to Fahbtharz, another gem will spawn, but not another Visage of Mzund.

I'm not sure whether the author of this note intended this as a tip for people who missed gems or just an interesting thing to note. If it's the former, I have concerns about its usefulness as a tip. The locations for the Ancient Technology quests are radiant, so getting the quest and hoping that it will select this one place doesn't seem like the most convenient way to get gems. If it's the latter, it could probably be listed as a bug. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 12:39, 20 July 2014 (GMT)

As it can not be relied on as an exploit for unlucky player, I agree with the bug section. —MortenOSlash (talk) 05:01, 23 July 2014 (GMT)
