Atirr

Atirr is a Khajiit found outside the ruins of Ilayas. He's just west of the wayshrine. He is searching the corpses of a Sea Viper Tempest and Warrior. Atirr is one of the NPCs who can give you the related quest.

Speak with him on the side of the road to begin the quest.

"Mariel the Ironhand will need your help dealing with these muskarse invaders. You're up to the task, yes?"

What happened here?

"The Sea Vipers are after a relic called the Sphere of Storms. The stormwardens use it to control weather, so they say.
I must run for reinforcements. Please, will you help Mariel the Ironhand protect the sphere until I return?"

What do you need me to do?

"There's a sky-key in the Sea Vipers' camp. You'll need it to enter the ruins. Take it from them and meet with Mariel the Ironhand at the ruins entrance.
If the Sea Vipers take the sphere, they'll wreak havok [sic] up and down the coast. They must not succeed."

I'll find the key.

You can ask him more about the ruins after accepting the quest.

"Search the tents around the ruins. Mariel the Ironhand said she would meet me at the ruins' entry, straight back from the steps.
Tell her not to worry! I will return with Thalmor reinforcements, and drive out these dungy muskarse Sea Vipers!"

Who exactly are you?

"I was sent to scout the region and report on Ilayas. I found Mariel the Ironhand on the road as she was returning to the ruins.
When we arrived, Ilayas was overrun."

What is the Sphere of Storms?

"A magic device from the time of the Ayleids. Ilayas focuses power into it to control the weather.
The stormwardens have guarded it for centuries."

Who are the stormwardens?

"They are Bosmer who've guarded the sphere since the Ayleid [sic] left. They use it to defend the coast and keep the forest growing."

After the quest:

"You've done well. Now that the sphere is safe, we can mop up what remains of these dungy Sea Vipers.
The Thalmor thank you for your assistance."
