The ancient full name of this xanmeer is Ixtaxh-Thitithil-Meht, but for obvious reasons nobody calls it that in common speech. It's said to be one of the most extensive Argonian stone-built sites in Murkmire.
Ixtaxh Xanmeer

The Ixtaxh Xanmeer is a sunken xanmeer located west of Lilmoth in Murkmire. When you enter the xanmeer, you'll find yourself in a room with fountains on either side of it. There are a few trunks and pots to loot. Once you pull the lever at Famia's behest, the floor falls out from under you. Swamp jellies are plentiful throughout the xanmeer. There's a skyshard on the first tier of the xanmeer's exterior. A water sack is next to the entrance.

Layout[edit]

Collapsed Room[edit]

You begin your delve in the southwesternmost chamber of the ruin. Stray bits of Argonian-style weapons and armor are sat upon altars in the four corners of this first room. You'll pick a simple lock to proceed, heading north.

Xanmeer Depths

Xanmeer Depths[edit]

The hallway ahead is flooded, so you'll need to swim through the narrow corridor. At the end of the corridor, you'll find a drawbridge protected by a tutan-wei pully-puzzle, which Famia is elated to see. The drawbridge crosses over a pit of mud which forces you to swim very slowly if you drop into it. Solve the puzzle, and the bridge drops, sending you north then east towards the largest chamber in the central section of the dungeon. Ixtaxh Explorer's Journal, Page 1 is located on the ground to the left just on the other side of the drawbridge. A hoarvor and two gas blossoms reside in the next corridor.

Center Chamber[edit]

Kirstaleth is trapped on a ledge in a chasm in this large room. Famia sends you into the side rooms to collect flint vine to weave a ladder so you can retrieve the Wood Elf. You'll die of environmental damage if you attempt to drop down onto Kirstaleth's platform to talk to her before rescuing her. There's a hoarvor in the southeast corner of this room.

Eastern-Central Room[edit]

The entrance is located at the southern half of Kirstaleth's prison, along the eastern wall. A single gas blossom sits at the corner of the hall's entrance. A pressure plate just inside the first part of the hallway activates a trap that shoots poisonous darts. There's a second poison dart trap beyond the first bend. At the end of this first hall, you'll come across a spike trap that closes in from each side of the hallway. This trap is timed, and has no trigger: every five seconds, the spikes close in.

There's a lantern mantis in the room ahead. Nearby, you'll also notice a crocodile. You'll also encounter a kotu gava in this room. There's a second lantern mantis and crocodile on the other end of the shallows as well, and a kotu gava broodmother at the base of the stairs. There's another poison dart trap (triggered again by a pressure plate) between the pillar and the eastern wall, near the second lantern mantis. Head through the corridor at the top of the stairs to gather the flint vine you need to save Kirstaleth. Ixtaxh Explorer's Journal, Page 2 is on an altar to your left near the flint vine.

Northern-Central Rooms[edit]

The entrance to this room is on the north side of Kirstaleth's prison. There are five inactive pressure plates on the floor in the entrance of the corridor leading north. A salamander and a gas blossom reside in the first room.

There's a fire spout trap at the entrance of the western corridor that is triggered by a pressure plate. There's another flame spout trap at the first bend, and a third fire spout just after the first bend, near the end of the western corridor.

This corridor leads into a cavernous chamber where an easily-avoided river troll resides. There's a catapult cabbage near the corridor's exit. Another catapult cabbage is sitting by the stone stairs on the opposite side of the room.

There's a single sample of flint vine on the lower landing of the stairs at the northern end of the chamber, near the waterfall. If you go under the waterfall, you'll see a peculiar sight; there's a post with a red torchbug fluttering beside it, and at the base of the post, you'll find an Argonian skeleton and three pumpkins, one of which is in a wooden tub. You'll notice a large monument straight ahead while standing near this sample of flint vine; there's a scuttle bloom living in the partially flooded area northeast of this monument, between the wall and the northern side of the stairs leading further up. If you choose to collect the Scuttle Bloom, be prepared to deal with a lone crocodile.

Climb up the stairs the rest of the way to find your third sample of flint vine, then jump off the ledge into the room below to continue forward. There's a gas blossom, a hoarvor, and a kotu gava broodmother in the northeast corner of this room. The broodmother circles around the room. There are two kotu gava in the southwest corner of the room, and there's a catapult cabbage in front of where you drop down from collecting the flint vine. A hoarvor and a kotu gava wander between this room and the corridor leading south from it, into the aforementioned salamander room. A door on the east side of this room leads into the Skittering Cavern, which is inaccessible until you rescue Kirstaleth.

Southern-Central Room[edit]

The entrance to this room is on the south side of Kirstaleth's prison. This first corridor is flooded, and you'll need to navigate it by swimming. You can see fish beneath the water's surface. There's a mud pit in the middle of the room ahead. It also contains kotu gava and five static pitchers. If a kotu gava is caught in the static pitchers' electric discharge, the bug will die. A strangler guards the flint vine in the center of the room. The walls of this room are covered in empty bookshelves.

Skittering Cavern[edit]

This area is a mossy pit that's half flooded and full of spiders. You'll find Varo in this room, and will need to defeat the Websnare Spider Matriarch to progress.

Stone Furnace[edit]

A stone room with grates in the floor. Zadaza urges you to hop down from the ledge. When you hit the ground, the trap activates. It's going to blow two bouts of heat. After the second wave of heat, the door unlocks, and you can enter the next room.

Kajin-Jat Vault[edit]

You'll fight the Ixtaxh Voriplasm here.

Ixtaxh Gauntlet[edit]

You'll run through this hallway, dodging pressure plate traps and pits of quicksand while you rush to escape the flow of noxious gas pouring out of the walls.

Ixtaxh Egress[edit]

You'll enter this area after escaping the gas timer. It's safe to linger in this room, but you need to climb up the ladder to progress through the quest. Ixtaxh Explorer's Journal, Page 4 is located here.

Notes[edit]

  • This xanmeer was first mentioned in The Infernal City, where it was named Ixtaxh-thtithil-meht.
  • Many of the rooms in the Ixtaxh Xanmeer serve to teach you how Murkmire's carnivorous fauna functions; you may see kotu gava or passive lizards run into a lantern mantis, gas blossom, or static pitcher's hit radius and die.
