Individual class pages[edit]

We don't yet know how many classes there will be and whether or not there will be enough content for full pages. Would it be alright to {{prod}} ON:Templar and ON:Dragonknight for the moment, based on the little information we have? Vely►t►e 01:13, 18 February 2013 (GMT)

I don't have a real problem with the existence of the two pages, so long as they are tagged correctly (the {{Pre-Release}} template). Why delete them now only to create them later? That is of course if they are correctly named. They have no speculative information beyond an assumed perception of their speculative existence. What I might suggest is locking page creation for Online, now that the beta is (imminently) upon us. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:27, 18 February 2013 (GMT)
Those two classes are confirmed. "Thus far we've announced two classes, the Dragonknight and the Templar. We'll be unveiling more as we approach the release of The Elder Scrolls Online!" source. Jeancey (talk) 01:31, 18 February 2013 (GMT)

Class exclusivity[edit]

So, are the class skills more like weapon skills or like race skills in that, can they be switched out on a whim, or are they stuck once you pick them? It always says "open and flexible", but does that mean you can pick a class and not be limited by weapon or armor, or that you can pick this class right now and then switch to a different class and it's abilities in the middle of a battle? I haven't found any explicit mention of one way or the other. --DGTexan (talk) 02:48, 10 April 2014 (GMT)

A class will give you certain misc skills. For example, if you're a sorcerer, you can put points into a familiar skill. If a dragonknight, you can go into Ardent Flame (damage skills), Draconic Power (armor skills), and Earthen Heart (other skills). You can then also put points in to morph the skills. I believe you can reallocate skill points somehow, but I personally don't know how.
You cannot switch classes, nor swap out abilities in the middle of a battle. Skills are on your typical MMO quickbar. You are not limited to any weapon or armor--you can be a robes/staff dragonknight or a heavy armor/mace sorcerer without consequences. You can be well-rounded. No matter your class, you can put skill points into any armor or weapon skill line (like, for example, you get snazzy stabby skills for dual-wielding like adding bleeds, which can morph to give you extra health). NPC Classes?[edit]

This will need a lot more investigation, but I just want to propose something that I've been thinking about.

Every NPC is a member of one of eight classes; ie, NPCs draw their skills from eight possible trees. In addition to the four player classes, these are:

  • Healer
  • Mage
  • Rogue
  • Warrior

These names are taken from the ability icon directories. What do you think? Is this possible? --Enodoc (talk) 21:36, 24 November 2014 (GMT)

I doubt it. I would bet most NPCs have a set number of attacks and abilities and just use those. Certain types of enemies, like bandits or pirates or something, may have several different sub-types that fall into those archetypes but they are so broad that pretty much any enemy ever is going to fall into them, including all of the classes from previous games. Without knowing a definitive class type assigned to each NPC, it would be 100% guesswork. I just don't see how you can call them classes simply the four you listed would cover every npc in the game, every player in the game, and indeed every NPC in any game ever. Jeancey (talk) 23:05, 24 November 2014 (GMT)
I agree they are very broad. I was just looking through the icons from the last update, and there are those four folders within the abilities folder which contain a bunch of icons that are not used by player abilities. All the other folders cover the other skill lines, so I was trying to think what these could be used for, which led me to this suggestion. I'll go and die a bunch of times later to different enemies and see if the attacks from one specific enemy fall under one of these. --Enodoc (talk) 10:11, 25 November 2014 (GMT)

Bounty Hunter Class[edit]

  • From Patch Notes - NPCs using "Basilisk Powder" (such as Blackguard Raider are of this class). (thanks Contraptions for the pickup there). Timeoin (talk) 09:50, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Similarly - "Vinecallers" are "Reach Mage" class ("Grasping Vines") attack Timeoin (talk) 09:52, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Monster Classes[edit]

Should we make note of named monsters classes? For example, the Bloodfiend from patch notes seems to be a standardized set of abilities and other creatures like the Skaafin Wretch and Skaafin Miscreal (Still not sure what difference is between the two) use the share abilities and fighting style (bare-handed). Will need to check what else the bloodfiends can do. Another example of a monster skill set being used by a different creature/npc is the Spellsword's abilities are identical as those used by the Xivilai (See Patch 2.75 for example--Talyyn (talk) 04:37, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

I think this would be find, yes. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:40, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
