Removed some stuff[edit]

1. The book that calls them Aedric prophesies also mentions this title is highly inappropriate.

2. They don't look black to any untrained reader. Image to the side shows this, I reckon the author who wrote that is confusing them with similair scrolls from one of David Eddings books.

3. Any person gifted with precience can read the scrolls and there is no description of any complex rituals needed. See Pension of the Ancestor Moth. — Unsigned comment by 62.251.15.186 (talk)

Good catch, Proweler, thanks. I did look at the Lost Histories of Tamriel; what was in the article before twisted what was stated in the book. Others may chime in on the other aspects. --BenouldTC 12:46, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Plural form of Khajiit[edit]

The text says: "Elsweyr - homeland of the Khajiit", but shouldn't it be "Elsweyr - homeland of the Khajiiti"?Icko 05:19, 6 December 2008 (EST)

Nope. One Khajiit, two Khajiit, many Khajiit. Khajiiti tends to be the adjective. The only exception I can think of is the Ring of Khajiiti in Oblivion. –RpehTCE 06:23, 6 December 2008 (EST)
Ok, my bad. It was that ring that got me confused. Icko 06:35, 6 December 2008 (EST)
There are other exceptions. I found numerous instances of "Khajiiti" as the plural in books - see A Dance in Fire, Chapter 4 for an example. To further complicate matters, the word is sometimes pluralized as "Khajiits" - see Special Flora of Tamriel. This spelling also appears in some dialogue. Which is most correct? Hard to say, since the games are not consistant on this. "Khajiits" is probably wrong, as it appears the least often. But I think that "Khajiiti" is just as valid as "Khajiit", as they are both used frequently as the plural form, even if "Khajiiti" is also an adjective. For the record, that same ring is known as Ring of Khajiit in Morrowind, so even there, we have a lack of consistancy. --TheRealLurlock Talk 09:14, 6 December 2008 (EST)

Elder Scroll[edit]

I was wanting to know if anyone knew where i could get a link or something that would lead to a website that can translate the ttext in the Elder Scroll That you Steal on the last quest in the Thieves G uild Questline. I would Appreciate it. --APSX3427 22:34, 13 June 2009 (EDT)

The Imperial Library has the biggest collection of translations. Considering they don't have the translation for the Elder Scroll, I doubt anyone has it (or the text is not just random characters). --Timenn < talk > 05:23, 14 June 2009 (EDT)

Thanks for the help! --APSX3427 22:22, 16 June 2009 (EDT)

I am moving this here until someone else gives their approval to this content to be added in the article. It has been reverted two times so I moved it here instead to stop this kind of behaviour and avoid an edit war. --MC S'drassa T2M 00:14, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, I wondering why it was disappearing (you learn to expect glichs when playing the original daggerfall). — Unsigned comment by 74.170.17.64 (talk) on 28 December 2009
As you said S'drassa, I don't think it is necessary to give an overview of the dates on this page, as they can be found elsewhere. We also already have an entire History section at Lore. --Timenn-<talk> 09:59, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

i just like that it's layed out simply and easy to see

gives perspective on where you are in history during what game

AN Elder Scroll?[edit]

Why do people in Oblivion refer to it as 'an' Elder Scroll, is there more of these scrolls? — Unsigned comment by Target (talkcontribs) on 7 December 2010

Yes - see the section "The Elder Scrolls Themselves" on this article, and read the sources. rpeh •TCE 07:41, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Page Split Request[edit]

The section of this page titled 'The Elder Scrolls Themselves' belongs under the Lore namespace. It can be linked to from this page if necessary, but at the moment there is no documentation of the scrolls in lore. Does anyone have a problem with this, or should I go for it? Legoless 13:02, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

I would defiantely support the creation of [[Lore:The Elder Scrolls]] or something similar. With appropriate redirects where needed. The section on this page I think could became a transcription of the Lore page. --DKong27 Talk Cont 20:13, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Go for it. Definitely a good idea, and I'm a bit surprised it's taken this long for anyone to spot this (including me :/) rpeh •TCE 20:18, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Done. Legoless 21:01, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Alphabet order[edit]

All the current Elder Scrolls games are sorted by name. (excluding the expansion packs) Arena B C Daggerfall E F G H I J K L Morrowind N Oblivion P Q R Skyrim

So the sixth main Elder Scrolls game should have a letter after S if keeping with the alphabetic order the main Elder Scrolls currently hold. Can anyone think of its name? SFK363 18:25, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

I hate to break it to you, but that seems like a coincidence to me. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 18:27, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
There are only 2 provinces to pick if the next Elder Scrolls name is named after its location - Summerset Isles and Valenwood. It's high time Bethesda picks a province inhabited by elves. SFK363 18:29, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Brrgh, I forgot Morrowind... but it's time to pick another province! SFK363 18:31, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Morrowind is inhabited by elves. It is strictly coincidence. Maybe you should post this on the forums and see what people think? This is a pretty forum-ish topic, after all. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 18:34, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
You can't guarantee coincidence. I think Bethesda planned this. What are your thoughts on this? SFK363 18:38, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I think this topic would be better served in the forums. Its not really wiki material. Alwaysburning 18:40, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) My thought is that this is a coincidence and a forum-like post and as such, it needs to be on the forums. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 18:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't notice UESP had a forum. Thanks for the link. SFK363 18:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Dawnguard[edit]

Now that Dawnguard has been announced should it have a bullet under Skyrim? 74.195.157.8 23:46, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Not until it's confirmed to be as big as Shivering Isles, otherwise, no. The Silencer has spokenTalk 23:48, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

I believe I read an article where Gstaff (a forum admin and employee of Bethesda) that it would be around the size of Point Lookout for Fallout 3. So it is a lot larger than Knights of the Nine yete smaller than the Shivering Isles.

Broken References[edit]

The links in the references section of the page aren't working for me. They don't even show up as standard blue links, the brackets are visible and the text is static and plain. This problem does not affect other pages I have randomly visited.76.181.65.128 03:18, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

It's because of a transclusion which inserts the namespace when transcluded. There are no pages in General for those books, so it is broken and has been for nearly a year, yet no-one said anything. The Silencer has spokenTalk 03:58, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Hearthfire[edit]

Should I put a bullet for heathfire under skyrim? Or is it not really considered a real expansion pack?Trevor1324 (talk) 01:28, 16 October 2012 (GMT)

If you look on the Skyrim:Skyrim page, you will see below the Quests bullet, there is another bullet called Official Plug-ins which says: "List of all the official plug-ins for Skyrim, including Dawnguard and Hearthfire." so therefore it is unnecessary to add another bullet for Hearthfire. -Helenaannevalentine(talk) 01:46, 16 October 2012 (GMT)

ESO?[edit]

An IP address added ESO with a 2013 release date to this page. Should it be removed, as the game is nowhere close to release atm?--Anil (talk) 21:35, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

The game is confirmed, it's been previewed by journalists. We also have a namespace on the game, which is in a very high-profile position on the sidebar. There is no doubt about the game existing, it just hasn't been released yet. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:47, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

Awkward wording[edit]

"In 4E 201, two Elder Scrolls were discovered in Skyrim, one hidden in the Dwemer city Blackreach and the other in the ancient ruin of Dimhollow Crypt. A third was located in the Soul Cairn."

Unless you are familiar with Dawnguard, the last sentence seems to contradict the preceding one. General explanations should not depend on the reader's special knowledge. I am not a lore editor so I will suggest, for clarity's sake, the following change:

The year 4E 201 saw the discovery of three Elder Scrolls. Two Elder Scrolls were discovered in Skyrim, one hidden in the Dwemer city Blackreach and the other in the ancient ruin of Dimhollow Crypt. The third was located within the Oblivion plane of the Soul Cairn. Kalevala (talk) 16:07, 25 March 2013 (GMT)

Table of contents[edit]

It is all the way at the bottom of the page. i think its because of transcluding of "Lore:Elder Scrolls" here, which copies the table template too. can someone fix it?--Honeystars (talk) 10:43, 16 October 2013 (GMT)

Should be good now. — ABCface 13:31, 16 October 2013 (GMT)

Primary Games?[edit]

What distinguishes these "Primary games" from the rest of the Elder Scrolls games? Edler Scrolls Online has been confirmed as being canon in the TES universe so surely it is a "Primary game" — Unsigned comment by 85.115.54.201 (talk) at 12:15 on 11 September 2015

Primary Games are those games that are numbered and build the main body of the elder scrolls games (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim). All other games are also considered canon, but are not the standard "single player open world RPG" like the primary ones. -- SarthesArai Talk 12:33, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Article title[edit]

Should this page be renamed to "The Elder Scrolls"? The opening paragraph of the article describes The Elder Scrolls series. It's the official name of the series per the developers as seen on the boxart (e.g. The Elder Scrolls: Arena, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal, The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Stormhold, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Dawnstar, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadowkey, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls Online, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Edition, The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls: Legends, The Elder Scrolls: Blades). --NibKing (talk) 18:29, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

I agree with this change, and the name bothered me the first time I saw this article too. As it is, in theory, one of the more important pages on the wiki, I'll wait to see if there's some consensus on the topic. —Dillonn241 (talk) 03:50, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
Go for it, the page only has minor protection. Leave this as a redirect and change any major links. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:41, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
It's been done. There are still many links to fix and ideally all of these instances should be italicized. The What Links Here is full of images right now though from the license template. —Dillonn241 (talk) 20:03, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

Non-traditional games[edit]

Would it be appropriate to add the non-traditional Elder Scrolls games (the Pinball FX board, Skyrim Monopoly, Very Special Edition, etc.) under the "Games" section? Pages on the former two still need to be created, so I'm not sure if it's best to wait or leave them as red-links for the time being. --Rezalon (talk) 02:02, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
