Archon's Grove (also known as Archen Grangrove)[1] is a forested clearing located within the province of the Summerset Isles, situated within the southern mountains of the Summerset Isle. Archon's Grove is known for the Rose-of-Archon, a rare flower that is sacred to the Goddess, Mara. It was originally discovered by the Archon of Song, Nenamil, who, upon encountering the rose, realized Mara was beauty incarnate, and so the flower was revered since. The town of Archen Grangrove is found in the general area.[2]

History[edit]

Archon's Grove has been the home of the Rose-of-Archon for many years, but its presence was made known when Nenamil, the Archon of Song had discovered the Rose-of-Archon during his pilgrimage to seek out holy sites and rumored areas of her presence. On a fateful day, Nenamil found the Rose and the area has since been a pilgrimage site. The Rose-of-Archon would be collected by the College of Sapiarchs, who use them in the Day of the Divine Reverence, specifically for Mara, which goes on for about 58 days. This had become a tradition for various years.[2]

During the Interregnum around 2E 583, Archon's Grove was taken over by the Thornfang Pack, a group of Werewolves that worship the Daedric Prince, Hircine. Their leader was Den Mother Toamna. Pilgrims and Sapiarchs were unable to enter Archon's Grove without encountering one of the werewolves so the Sapiarchs had called for help from the Divine Prosecution, who would send warriors to retrieve blossoms of the Rose-of-Archon. The blossoms were recovered, in time for the Day of the Divine Reverence. [3]

During the Imperial Simulacrum in the Third Era, the settlement of Archen Grangrove existed in the area, being under the reign of Baroness Saursha. It had a rivalry with Riverfield.[1] It was neighbored by several settlements, including Sunhold in the west, and Dusk in the east.[4]
