Chaurus are large hostile insects found in caves deep below the surface of Skyrim and in some cases on the surface. They possess highly poisonous spit and a powerful bite. Chaurus are bred and raised by the Falmer, later to be killed and have their chitin used for armor. The Gray Host tamed Chaurus in their experiments in Blackreach, using them as guards. Their meat is used in Nordic cuisine.

Life Cycle[edit]

When a Chaurus reaches the end of its life, its body undergoes a dramatic transformation. After days of death-like stillness, the Chaurus Hunter bursts free from the husk of the Chaurus.
