The Festival of Blades is a holiday held on the 26th of First Seed. It is created in honor of the first Redguard's victory over Malooc's Horde, an army of giant goblins that lived in Hammerfell. Although modern scholars believe that the story is a myth, the holiday is still popular across the Alik'r of the southern Iliac Bay.

When Frandar Hunding and the original Ra Gada first arrived at Hammerfell in 1E 808, they found it occupied by a race of giant goblins. Frandar assembled the sword-singers waged war with the tribes, known collectively as Malooc's Horde. In one of the bloodiest battles, Frandar's life was taken and his son, Divad assumed his mantle to eventually finish the fight. With a band of sword-singers, Divad forged five magical swords and vanquished the giant goblins.

The Festival of Blades is observed in the Alik'r Desert region of Hammerfell, as well as its major population centers, such as Sentinel. In the mid-Second Era, the Sisters of the Sand inn prepared a five-drake prix fixe dinner which encompassed Scuttle Fondue with sandwort croutons, Goatherd and mutton pies, with garnishes of red mushroom and smoked viper, Horker Loaf on a bed of imported scathecraw, a bottle of Gold Coast Muscat, Caramelized Goat Nibbles for the children. The people hold a ceremony on the streets called the Effigy Dismemberment. The Redguards of Hew's Bane to the south also acknowledge it.
