Silgrad Tower (or Silgrod Tower) is a fortified border settlement located in western Morrowind, amidst the territory of House Redoran.[UOL 1] Silgrad serves as a checkpoint, as well as a stronghold between the provinces of Morrowind and Skyrim, near the city-states of Blacklight and Riften respectively. The settlement surrounds the Tower of Silgrad, an ancient minaret that eventually became the centerpiece of the settlement.
Silgrad Tower served as one of the main lines of defense against the Imperial Legion during the Tiber Wars that plagued the province of Morrowind. Silgrad ultimately fell to the Legion as the battle continued into Morrowind. Eventually, both sides reconciled and the Treaty of the Armistice was signed, ending the conflict in Morrowind. With the newly-established, Imperial Province of Morrowind, the Imperial Legion took control of Silgrad Tower. On her way to Mournhold, the young Barenziah passed through Silgrad Tower.
The town of Silgrad Tower was still in existence during the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era. Its ruler at the time was Count Shalpar. It had a rivalry with Karththor Dale. It was neighbored by several settlements, including Reich Parkeep to the north, Verarchen Hall to the southeast, and Skyrim to the west, towards Riften.
