The Void Ghost is Sheogorath?[edit]

The Void Ghost is Sheogorath? Can someone explain this connection to me? It seems unfounded. RottenDeadite (talk) 01:28, 19 January 2013 (GMT)

It mostly came from the Varieties of Faith in the Empire. First of all, sermon 33 is about Baar Dau, that much is clear, and traditionally Sheogorath is attributed to its fall (The Pilgrim's Path). The Varieties say that Sheogorath was "'born' when Lorkhan's divine spark is removed" and that he is a "'Sithis-shaped hole' of the world" meaning that the name of Void Ghost is well-suited for such an entity. Varieties also mention that his worship is "found in most Tamrielic quarters", while the sermon states that he "hides in the religions of all men". While not definitely conclusive, it seemed reasonable to me to conclude that it was in fact Sheo. -- Kertaw48 (talk) 10:11, 19 January 2013 (GMT)
This seems particularly unreasonable given out-of-game sources, including a direct clarification from Kirkbride, the author of the Lessons: "To make it short, he's the one that failed so you might not." (from Michael Kirkbride - IRC Q&A Sessions) and "Why would Lorkhan and his (unwitting?) agents sabotage their experiments with the Tower? Why would he crumble that which he esteems? Perhaps he failed so you might know how not to." (from Vehk's Teaching). Seems pretty clear that the intent was for the Void Ghost to be Lorkhan. With that in mind, I am going to remove the link to Sheogorath from this page and the other other copies of it. Marelo (talk) 19:59, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Or perhaps it should be a link to Lorkhan? I will leave it unlinked, since I'm new to editing wiki stuff, and I'm not sure whether that link needs to be justified with citations. Marelo (talk) 20:01, 10 January 2016 (UTC) Edit: Then again, it was never justified with a visible citation in the first place. So I guess I will link it to Lorkhan. Marelo (talk) 20:10, 10 January 2016 (UTC) Edit 2: I will also suggest that Sheogorath's page be edited to account for this, specifically the note about him being the Void Ghost, and that Lorkhan's page be edited to incorporate these sources. () (edit conflict) I've reverted it to being unlinked for now. A Q&A doesn't trump in-game evidence (in this case The Pilgrim's Path, which directly states that Sheo is the one who moves Lie Rock). Sheogorath is strongly associated with Lorkhan, but we should leave the readers to make that jump themselves. —Legoless (talk) 20:20, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
