Translation of Shalidor's insights

The recent translation was completely wrong imo. However, I was drawn to check the letters again and found a mistranslated letter. Poking around in google with combinations drew me to this translation "The VARY FROM ONRDICA Alduin Akatosh ES superficially LOOKS WITH YOUR COLLEAGUE IN". I was given a prompt to swap only two letters, the O and N in onrdica (ending with NÓRDICA), which gives a translation from Portuguese into "The VARY FROM NORTHERN Alduin Akatosh ES superficially LOOKS WITH YOUR COLLEAGUE IN". I believe with grammarfication this can read somewhat as "The differences in the northern Alduin and Akatosh are superficial". Silence is Golden^{Break the Silence} 00:38, 24 November 2012 (GMT)

What source? This is my fiddling with the spellings in google translate. The only thing I can add is the spellings/words I came up with ALDUIN A VARIA ONRDICA (NÓRDICA) DE AKATOSH ES SUPERFICIALMENTE PARECE SE COM O SEU COLEGA NOS. I have to say, some of those words really look like portuguese. and as far as I can tell its almost exactly what was said by The Silencer. if I add some characters it makes more sense, but not entirely:

• portuguese: alduin(,) a varia(çã)o no(r)dica de akatosh(,) es/é superficialmente parecido? com o seu colega nos

It reminds me of one of the lines from the book Varieties of Faith...

"Alduin is the Nordic variation of Akatosh, and only superficially resembles his counterpart in the Nine Divines."

Alas no, "Alduin é a variação nórdica de Akatosh, e apenas superficialmente se assemelha a seu homólogo nas Nove Divines". Too many missing words/letters for this to be true, the translation resembles it, and likely has much the same meaning, but not the same words. So I futz around with the spacing, and, without adding any letters at all, translated the entire thing in google translate. Now, keeping in mind that google translate sucks, the similarity to the above translation is very obvious. The language in question here is Galacian, which is a relative of Portuguese spoken in Galica in Spain. The exact translation, directly from google translate, is "Alduin the varies the Nodic of akatosh are superficially Apparently it is with your colleague in". Its not anywhere clear to the same thing, but it is very close. I also dispute the transliteration of NODICA. I think it actually says N RDICA, which would put a O as the clearly missing letter, changing the translation from Nodic to Nordic. I think it is safe to say that it is roughly the first sentence from VOF. I'm going to retransliterate it myself to see if there are any other mistakes. Jeancey (talk) 20:24, 12 March 2013 (GMT)

(←) After retransliterating it, I added 4 letters to it, all where spaces were present, and, directly translating from Galician, "Alduin a varia(ci)o(n) n(o)rdica de akatosh es superficialmente parecese com o seu colega nos" translates into "Alduin the Nordic variation of akatosh are superficially looks like his colleague in", which i think, with some slight accounting for it being google translate, definitely looks like that first sentence. That was clearly a poor translation. Counterpart is sometimes translated to Portuguese and Spanish as "colega", "colleague". "ALDUIN É A VARIAÇÂO NÓRDICA DE AKATOSH E SUPERFICIALMENTE PARECE-SE COM O SEU COLEGA NOS" translates as "Alduin is the Nordic variation of Akatosh, and superficially resembles his colleague (In the? Us?)". "NOS" could be "nos", which means "in the" or "nós", which means "us". I think all evidence points toward it being a poor translation to portuguese. I know both Portuguese, Spanish and -obviously- English, so please believe me: I am not making this stuff up.

For example, Alduin's sobriquet, 'the world eater', comes from myths that depict him as the horrible, ravaging firestorm that destroyed the last world to begin this one.
