Scale[edit]

Are there any maps of tamriel (or anywhere from TES) that have a scale? From what I'v read about the geography of the planet, it seems to me that Tamriel would be the largest continent (it certainly has been in terms of storyline) perhaps around the size of Eurasia, however to be able to walk across the largest section (Cyrodiil) of a landmass that size in a day or so seems a bit incorrect, but movement speeds are fairly normal. Has anyone seen a map with a scale (I may have missed it)? 121.72.153.207 04:54, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

The only official map with a scale that exists so far, to my knowledge, is this one of West Tamriel. It has latitude and longitude marks that are equidistant, so the projection would be Equirectangular, making it easier to plot on a grid. In fact, if you look closely at the video captures mentioned below, you will see that the map is superimposed over a flat grid. Darictalk 13:02, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
Arena provides specific distances between all 256 cities/towns/villages cited on the map. I've been working on a distance matrix to document the distance and time required to travel to any destination from any origin location. This information might be extrapolated to 'scale' the provided maps and establish the distances in a orthographical way. Also daveh's work on the google map interface would have forced him into establishing a fixed coordinate space that could define distances in the TES versions enabled with google maps. Although I have not started Daggerfall yet, I have read that the distances within the game are quite a bit larger than in Arena. Someone needs to do a comparison of the various TES incarnations to determine if a 'universal' scale is practical. Igor van Dame (talk) 00:35, 21 April 2013 (GMT)

Vvardenfell[edit]

I wonder when they'll release 4E map? Vvardenfell is half-gone now and Morrowind is now part of the black marsh-- a totally different country-- Tamriel is in a huge upheaval.— Unsigned comment by unknown (talkcontribs) on unknown

skyrim video[edit]

Any people can extract the map form the video "behind the sences of skyrim" and make it clearer(Vvardfell 08:04, 12 January 2011 (UTC))

It's already been done, but please do NOT put links to those maps on this page. rpeh •TCE 08:09, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Cyrodiil[edit]

As much as I prefer coloured Cyrodiil map over vanilla, I think that this page should be consistent and have vanilla map instead. Currently, statement "The province of Cyrodiil, as seen in the game Oblivion." is false so I'll add note "With coloured map mod installed". -- Pero.lo 13:01, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Overly pedantic, methinks, but I've switched to the non-coloured version instead. rpeh •TCE 17:05, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Weather[edit]

Any one know of a map of climate/weather? I am trying to make a role play, and such information would be very valuable. --Zefiewings 21:24, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Weather is random. If you go to each region's page, in each game, it will tell you the probabilities for each type of weather for that region. --Brf 21:33, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Any vector maps of Tamriel?[edit]

Well, I put the {{User Cartographer}} tag on my user page, but I haven't done much with maps here yet. What I'm wanting to do is to create / acquire a vector (scalable) map of the whole of Tamriel. I am a QuantumGIS user, and I have begun the painstaking effort of tracing around the highest resolution raster map that I could find, to create a polygon vector layer. You will notice in the sample provided that the underlying raster layer is this one from another ES wiki. However, if you look closely, you will see extra lines and red X marks all over it. That is the start of my vector layer. The places where the red X marks are so close together that they touch, is the part of the coastline that I have completed so far. Further out from City Isle you may notice long, straight lines that don't properly match up to the contours. That is where I have done a very rough draft. Once the entire coastline is mapped, I will move on to a point layer for locations, and after that a line layer for roads.

As you can imagine, this is a huge amount of work, digitizing all those points. I am hoping that someone here can come to my rescue, and point me to an existing dataset that I can download for free. Using QGIS, I can import a variety of vector file types, or connect directly to GRASS, OpenStreetMap, or Google Maps servers. Darictalk 12:19, 11 January 2013 (GMT)

Trail[edit]

Shouldn't this be an Appendix? Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 00:08, 10 May 2013 (GMT)

Either that, or a subsidiary of Places, as it's on the {{Lore Places}} template. It should definitely be somewhere, though. --Enodoc (talk) 10:43, 10 May 2013 (GMT)

Anthology[edit]

When will we be getting images of the anthology maps? Does anyone know? -- Mog Mog Player 08:24, 17 October 2013 (GMT)

Whenever scans are created. Unlikely that Bethesda are going to release the images. —Legoless (talk) 11:10, 17 October 2013 (GMT)

Dragonborn missing?[edit]

There should probably be a Dragonborn:Maps article, since there's already an Google API map of it and everything. I'd make it myself, but I don't have the expertise. 72.185.156.62 05:57, 5 November 2014 (GMT)

Since it's only the one map, it's currently just included on the Skyrim page. I've noted it on the link here to make it clear. -- Hargrimm(T) 16:14, 5 November 2014 (GMT)
