Translated[edit]

Wow, somebody actually translated that nonsense? Was quite an interesting read.

--Jojje 01:34, 3 September 2006 (EDT)

Wouldn't call it nonsense, actualy makes quite a lot of sense if you ask me. Volanaro 06:44, 8 January 2008 (EST)

Using Mysterium Xarxes[edit]

Is there a possible way to get the Mysterium Xarxes back? And is it a Daedric artifact? (This is on Xbox 360) Added by: Cloud strife

(question was moved here after originally being posted at UESPWiki:Reference Desk)
No, it's not an item that is given back to the player. When it is taken from your inventory, it is removed from the game (player.removeitem). A copy appears at that point in Cloud Ruler Temple but it is actually a fake copy and even that copy is disabled at the end of the main quest. --NepheleTalk 17:38, 31 December 2007 (EST)
That sucks! Someone should make a patch to allow you to drop quest items. So you could just duplicate the item and then use the other copy of the quest item to complete the quest. And is the Mystierium Xarxes a Daedric Artifact? 16:33, 1 January 2008 — Unsigned comment by 70.48.104.23 (talk)
If you're on the PC you can use the SetQuestObject command to allow you to drop quest objects. As for it being a Daedric Artifact... well it's "supposedly" written by Mehrunes Dagon so I'd say "Possibly". —RpehTCE 05:29, 1 January 2008 (EST)

Translation[edit]

Should the translation be at the bottom of the page??? i'd be happy to do it just wondering if it would be ok--Platypodge 08:52, 16 January 2008 (EST)

If you have something to contribute about the translation that differs from what is already stated at TIL, then perhaps adding it would be appropriate. But simply copying all or part of the TIL article to UESP is not OK, because that would be plagiarism. The existing link to the TIL article seems to me like the best way to provide readers with complete information on the text's translation. --NepheleTalk 12:38, 16 January 2008 (EST)
Relating information from another site is not plagiarism unless it's copied word for word. He didn't write a short story, he just translated what was in the game. 66.167.32.222 05:51, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
No it's still plaigirism. Take "Two roads diverged in one." turn it into "Two paths turned into one." It's still plaigirism.-Puddle Talk+Contribs. 09:20, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
Actually plagiarism is the act of copying someones work and presenting it as your own work. As long as you give credit to the source, no one can claim plagiarism. Laziness perhaps. 68.161.192.253 12:55, 8 February 2009 (EST)

Isn't "When I walk The Earth again" incorrect in regards to lore? Shouldn't it be "When I walk Nirn again"? --Qeros 14:08, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

() Jauffre and others make references to earth and the earth because they are speaking english. It's ok the way it is.24.31.156.165 16:56, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

It isn't incorrect if you consider one definition of earth; "a: areas of land as distinguished from sea and air b: the solid footing formed of soil : ground". --GuildKnightTalk2me 18:14, 1 September 2008 (EDT)
But mostly it is overlooked for the sake of expediency and cadence in prose. (Which this isn't but there is enough precedent to take the easy way)24.31.156.165 18:23, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

xarxes/Oghma[edit]

one. "Xarxes is the god of ancestry and secret knowledge. He began as a scribe to Auri-El, and has kept track of all Aldmeri accomplishments, large and small, since the beginning of time. He created his wife, Oghma, from his favorite moments in history." from "Varieties of Faith in the Empire"

two."You have served me well, and I am pleased. I give you this, the Oghma Infinium. Knowledge given by me to Xarxes is recorded within. Read it," herma mora

three."He gave his knowledge to Hermaeus Mora and Mehrunes Dagon with which they wrote the Oghma Infinium and Mysterium Xarxes. It is through those books that he survives." uesp

the Oghma Infinium and Mysterium Xarxes weir both written useing knowlage from xarxas shouldnt this be mentioned on their respective pages? Diobern 12:55, 10 November 2008 (EST)

By xarxes?[edit]

He gave his knowledge to Hermaeus Mora and Mehrunes Dagon with which they wrote the Oghma Infinium and Mysterium Xarxes. It is through those books that he survives.

From what i've read, Oghma infinium is knowledge from hermaeus mora himself instead of xarxes, who actually just penned the knowledge into the tome. It's written in the imperial library and ingame as well. Could Mysterium Xarxes be in the same case as the infinium? Knowledge from Mehrunes Dagon and penned by xarxes? --220.255.4.27 16:59, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

expand?[edit]

Really? this is the whole article? all it says is "a book supposedly written by Mehrunes Dagon" and a picture of the pages, why not put some actual information about it, this is a lore page, so it could say something like "it was stolen 433 of the third era by the hero of Cyrodil from the Deadric cult the mythic dawn" as well as include information on what it says, as stated before, not just copy the whole thing, but state that is "includes instructions for a portal to paradise" or something along those lines, but right now, its got nothing--87.177.22.226 16:17, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

It's got everything it needs. Book pages contain the contents of the book, and nothing else. The Oblivion crisis is discussed on various other pages, and doesn't need recapitulating here. rpeh •TCE 16:32, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Awesome[edit]

Hey Epic fan of Oblivion , So much that I learned Daedra myself although... this is the meaning I hold that this is not my own work and is just for people who want to the know the meaning so All this down below is quoted. Just the Disclaimer there ;D before I get sued or whatever.

After deciphering all the Mysterium Xarxes text, you can see that the first page, ignoring parts that spill onto the second page, reads as such:

"When I walk the earth again, the faithful among you shall recieve your reward. To be set above all other mortals, forever. As for the rest, the weak shall be winnowed, the timid shall be cast down, the mighty shall tremble at my feet and pray for pardon."

The Array is not meant to be read with this text and is a seperate part:

"Of bold Oblivion fire who finds you for Lord Dagon forever reborn in blood and fire from the waters of Oblivion."

The second page was much easier to decipher despite being slightly cut off along the right side. This is when the Mythic Dawn Commentaries came in handy, as they contained parts of the text that was missing.

Unlike the first page, it doesn’t appear that the second page is meant to be read. It is, quite literally, instructions to build an Array. From recent events, we know that, if built, this Array will create a portal to Paradise.

We know that the four keys are as follows: -+- In my first arm, a storm. - A Great Welkin Stone -+- My second, the rush of plagued rain. - A Great Sigil Stone -+- The third, all the tinder of Anu. - The blood of an Aedra -+- The fourth, the very eyes of Padhome. - The blood of a Daedric Prince ((uns2|01:22, 3 December 2011|78.148.203.205}}

Skyrim?[edit]

Is it me, or is the piece of paper in Silus Vesius's house / mueseum looks a lot like the Mysterium Xarxes (well a bit of it I mean, not the whole book). Your thoughts? JackTurbo95 14:41, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

It's already noted here that it is a page from the Mysterium Xarxes. If you hit it, it turns into a bucket, too. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 14:47, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
But shouldn't it be noted HERE that it is seen in Skyrim? Seeing as this is the Lore page ... 95.39.47.51 07:17, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Artifact Article[edit]

I've turned this into a standard artifact article. As has been mentioned in previous discussions, the tome has significant history, especially given its reappearance in Skyrim. Treating it as a "book" is of no real use in lorespace, as the contents are very game-specific (compare it to Lore:Oghma Infinium and Oblivion:Oghma Infinium). —Legoless 20:17, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

For future reference, I have created a book version because this is an actual book with content, where the Oghma is not readable, though you can see the content briefly when you open it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 14:11, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Xarxes, Xerxes[edit]

Is the xarxes a possible reference to the satanic Xerxes? --Manic (talk) 14:45, 24 October 2012 (GMT)
