Full Page[edit]

Hey just wondering if I can turn Lore: Potema into a full article ill wait 24hrs for an anwser (Darco 01:41, 13 June 2012 (UTC))

Try fleshing it out in a sandbox first. We've got to make sure it has enough content to be a full article, and that's usually the easiest way to do so. Vely►Talk►Email 01:54, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
ok ill write it out on the sandbox you can view when if thats ok? (Darco 02:19, 13 June 2012 (UTC))
Once you've got it in a sandbox, mention it on this talk page. I am unfortunately rather ignorant of lore, but there are some people who will see your post here and happily review the content. Vely►Talk►Email 02:20, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Emblem of Solitude[edit]

It's fairly obvious the wolf crest of Solitide is a clear reference to Potema. Although no in-game or OOG source confirms this, it can certainly be inferred. Would there be any objection if this was somehow noted in the article? --Jimeee (talk) 11:56, 30 May 2013 (GMT)

There's a correlation, but I wouldn't assume causation. It's entirely possible Solitude has been associated with a wolf long before Potema's time. One source says Pelagius II called her a "she-wolf ready to pounce", and historical fiction claims she was named for an amulet containing a werewolf soul. But it's also possible they're both wrong, and the many foreigners she entertained associated her with the pre-existing wolf emblem around her city. ESO should shed more light on the matter. Dragonborn Emperors[edit]

Isn't she dragonborn, like Tiber Septim, Uriel VII, and Martin? If so, then why when you kill her in Skyrim does she not give up a dragon soul the way Miraak does? Or are they indicating that she wasn't dragonborn the way the rightful emperors were and thus if she'd been crowned empress it would have been an even bigger disaster for Tamriel?Black jack king (talk) 00:07, 13 October 2013 (GMT)

It's something we can dismiss as a game limitation. A more lore-worthy explanation is that she isn't fully re-incarnated/summoned from whatever plane her soul resides in, but that wouldn't explain why it still gives a soul. This is only really noticeable because of Miraak, so Bethesda probably did not envisage the absorption of Dragon Souls from NPCs until long after the games release. Further, although the Septim line is Dragonborn, that doesn't mean they all were, and there's no way to know that Potema was, as it isn't fully clear how they were Dragonborn, it is only assumed to be hereditary (The Book of the Dragonborn suggests it could also be a blessing conferred on the legitimate rulers when it is their time to rule). The way I saw it was that the reason you got a soul from Miraak was because you were just getting the soul(s) he'd taken from dragons. Potema never killed a dragon, so there were no dragon souls to absorb. Xolroc (talk) 00:49, 13 October 2013 (GMT)
