Dictionary[edit]

I'm updating TIL's dictionary and noticed a number of issues with this one in the process. I've called out a few words below that I think are clearly wrong, but I would also request reconsideration in how the Saban/Coyle dialog is noted in this dictionary. The translations are all from Hrafnir's language thread as far as I can tell, and some appear to me to have less basis than others.

Anseilak - if "hel anseilak" means "communion with the saints of the sword", and "hel ansei" means "saints of the sword," "anseilak" can't logically mean "communion". The -lak suffix does that.

Dan - there is no basis for this translation, as this word shows up only once in an untranslated sentence.

Hattu - in my opinion, it's more likely that Hattu is referred to as the father of mountains (like Mt. Evarest might due to its size), rather than the name translating as "father of mountains"

Hunding - the book specifically says that Hunding is the name of the region, not that it translates to "high desert."

Satak - Satak is the name of a serpent deity, but there is nothing to indicate that it actually means "serpent".

Vizier - I see nothing in the source page to indicate that this is a yokudan word with the given translation, rather that ZOS just using the real world title. Lady Nerevar (talk) 01:45, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Historically, we haven't allowed guesses onto translation pages except, I think, if they're very minor (e.g., the main word is backed up by a source, but it's unclear if a derivative is, say, plural or possessive). One of our Lore regulars might have more to say on that. If anything doesn't have an unambiguous source, though, or if the source clearly doesn't cover the word at all, I'd say feel free to remove it. Just looking quickly through the sources for each comment, I agree with your points on all counts. Robin Hood  (talk) 02:39, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
