Collect a Major Artifact on Your First Day[edit]

I really don't see how getting an artifact is a cheat, since it doesn't take advantage of an exploit in any way. Therefpre, it belongs on the Morrowind:Hints page, where I moved it to. --Ratwar 18:00, 31 January 2007 (EST)

Clarity[edit]

"Raise one of your major or minor attributes to 100." attributes is supposed to be skills? or what?

It should say attribute. Major and minor have nothing to do with it.--Zoidberg 02:28, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

"You can simply activate any Shrine of the Tribunal or imperial altar and select Attribute Restoration to refill your Magicka to its max" I went to several imperial (cult?) shrines and tribunal alters and got no magica bonus, maybe this doesn't apply to the xbox GOTY edition? Is there something I missed?

That only applies to people born under the Atronach sign. --Gaebrial 02:35, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

Alchemy[edit]

Im sorry if this has been said before but why has the huge article on making super alchemy poitions been removed. Yes half of the article is here and another portion can be found at the alchemy page but for less intelligent readers who want to make some ultimate potions they may not realise that you can combine the two parts to make super potions very easily. --Duncans pumpkin 13:32, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

Nalcarya doesn't sell Hound Meat and Crab Meat, Tusamircil does 83.196.216.106 10:52, 26 June 2008 (EDT)

Good spot, corrected. --BenouldTC 01:34, 27 June 2008 (EDT)
If you have fortified your fatigue to around 4000 using potions, you can automatically persuade and admire All vendors that have disposition to a disposition of 100. Then, if your fatigue is still fortified around 1000, you can buy a single item from Any vendor for 1 drake and sell the same item back for Max Sale to quickly take all the drakes of Any vendor. This process can be repeated every day. As long as their disposition remains around 90+, you can gather all the drakes from all the vendors that have disposition every day after fortifying fatigue around 1000. Perma Daedra[edit]

I tried to create permanant Frost daedra on the xbox GOTY version, and the game froze every time. It works perfectly with golden saints, but has not yet worked with frost atronach. What am i doing wrong?

Upon experimentation, I came to discover that when you cast the soul trap-summon Daedra combo point blank to a wall, then the creature stays, and the game does not freeze. However, if the soul trap hits the Daedra as it is cast, the game freezes.

Perma Command[edit]

Perhaps the spell for permanant command should be added to this page also. "Perma Command" Fortify Strength on Target Command Humaniod x-x for 2 secs. in 5ft on Touch

Terrible writing[edit]

All of the "I"s and first person references should be removed from this article. It's extremely unprofessional.

You're right. Why not take the task on yourself? For the moment I've marked it for cleanup. –RpehTCE 15:57, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Fair play[edit]

Varius things in this article are acually not cheating. And I just want your permission and help to move them.

1. Raid the vaults, it is very difficult to steal from the vaults in Vivec.

2. Alcemical Breakthrough, Well thats what alchemy is about but the endless items by selling back stuff might be cheating if you do it too much and the input should be about that. You of course mention the connection to alchemy.

3. Infinite Levels: Method 2, if that is cheating not having enough money while breaking the law is cheating.

4. Recharging Magicka, It is not much more effective than Summoning Ancestral Ghosts and you can not rely on it in your most dire need, when you are away from towns that is. — Unsigned comment by Azura (talkcontribs)

I agree on 1. and 4., they should be moved to Morrowind:Hints. Pushing restocking vendors beyond their normal inventory and using super-potions I still consider cheats, and 3., Method 2 is so minor, we might as well leave it where it is. Go ahead and do the deed, --BenouldTC 12:16, 27 May 2008 (EDT)

1a. I don’t agree with #1. I used a strong command human and a constant levitation item (easier moving) and got all the people & guards except one guard to walk out of Mavon Drenim’s Telvanni compound in Vivec and robbed the telvanni vault. I did lock & unlock doors to keep people out and when I got inside the vault with one guard I did a mark spell, which unfortunately I think is what got me kicked out of the Tribunal Temple, and then I left without taking anything. I made sure the guard walked out with me. Away from the guard, I did a recall spell and locked the door and robbed it. Finally, I did an ALMSIVI Intervention spell to get out of there unseen. It was fun!

Glitch, Hint, or Cheat?[edit]

There are several sections of this page that repeat sections of the Hints page:

1. "Talk to people who don't want to talk" duplicates "Talking to Belligerent NPC's"

2. "Alchemical Breakthrough" duplicates "Obtaining Cash: Alchemy"

3. "Redoran Vaults" and "Raid the Vaults" should be combined

4. "Stealing: the Ordinator paragraph" and "Ordinator Piggy Bank" should be combined

5. "Ultimate Training Technique" duplicates "Drain and Train"

I personally think they all really belong in Hints, with the possible exception of #2.

Also, Infinite Stats duplicates the Soul Trap Glitch on the Glitches page. I believe it should go in Cheats.

However, I am new here, having just started cleaning up this page. I would appreciate any input from the veterans before I go moving anything around. Thanks!

HighLife 21:54, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

In my opinion, 1, 3, and 4 are Hints, and should be combined. 2 and 5 are cheats, not glitches, intentional exploiting game mechanics. --BenouldTC 22:26, 15 June 2008 (EDT)
The "Corpus Cheat" can be categorized as a glitch. I don't believe it's intended for people to wait around for months to increase stats, but players starting the Main Quest after reaching maximum Strength or Endurance should still get the stat boost. All of the glitches which can be exploited to the benefit of the player should be sectioned here. I don't know why everything isn't listed on a general "bugs/glitches/exploits" page though. Some consolidation is needed. Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 18:22, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Another permanent spell Cheat[edit]

Moved from main article: this is also listed at Morrowind:Glitches#Summoned_Item_Bug. Do we want it here as well?Eshetalk 16:22, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

I tested on version 1.6 spells...Morrowind & Tribunall & Bloodmoon...

Bound Dagger for 1 sec
Soul Trap on target for 1 sec
...and you'll get a permanent Bound Dagger...

or

Levitate on self for 1 sec
Soul Trap on target for 1 sec
...the effect seems to wear off...but it will remain...

maybe work with all spells!

Infinite Bound Items[edit]

"buy the bound item you want then buy a soultrap spell , then go to a spellmaker and create a spell with your bound item of choice with 0 duration and soultrap on target and 0 duration aswell (you can name it what ever you want) and buy it . now cast it at a wall and you should have a bound item equiped NOTE: if you cast it more than once you may have more than 1 and you cant drop it or sell it." [mattb94]

Moved it because it needs to be verified. What would happen if you equipped another weapon? Can more than one bound item be made? Could using this bug crash the game? These are just a few questions I think need to be answered before adding it. Jplatinum16 20:14, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Nothing would happen if you equipped another weapon, that bound weapon will be in your inventory unlike in oblivion where it dissappears when you unequip it, And you can make more of the same bound weapon/armor as much as you want but rememebr one vital thing you can never drop it. Unlimited Luck[edit]

(moved from the article)

Okay. I know that most people don't play morrowind anymore but if there is anybody out there who still likes this amazing game, I have a cheat for you fretyou need to make enough money in Seyda Neen. One good way is to take from the houses because the people inside will just say things like "stop thief". But anyway once you get enought money buy a spell from Arreilles Tradehouse in Seyda Neen. the spell you need is called Jack of all Trades or something like that. Then make sure that you still have enough money to do the rest. Travel to Balmora. You can walk or take the Silt Strider thing. Once there go into the mages guild and join it. Take the stuff from the supply bin and sell to the other members of the guid. Then talk to the cat lady downstairs about duties. She will tell you to find her mushrooms. All the mushrooms are in or just outside of Seyda Neen. Then once you bring them to her go and get recruted to a higher rank. Talk to the cat lady again and get your next orders. It should be something about a bet and a soul gem. Take the fake soul gem and go all the way upstairs. Grab the gems of the desk there because the lady that was there goes down stairs for a little. You have to quick about it though. Once you do that open the desk and take the gem from in there. Then place the fake soul gem that the cat lady gave you into the desk and walk down the steps and then get your next quest. You don't need to do this one yet. Then get promoted again. Go down the stairs and find the lady that sells soul trap as a spell. Buy it from her. Teleport to a mother mages guild for 11 gold by talking to the lady with the red robe downstairs. Find a soul gem in another guild and save before you take it. If they don't attack you, good. If they do, load your game and try a different guild. I think caldera is a good guild to try first. Once you have one find a safe place to put your gems you stole in Balmora. Take your one soul gem from the other guild and head out of town. Once you find a creature use the soul trap spell on it then kill it. It should say something like "you have trapped a soul" after that head back and pick up your soul gems from balmora. Teleport back to balmora and then get yourself a weopon that you want to use for a long time. I would go to the east gaurd tower and go to the very top. There is a urn. Jump on top of the urn and look ontop of the closet. There should be a sword call The Sword of White Woe. Jump and at the height of your jump you will get stuck in the ceiling for like half a second. Practice this a few times then save. Jump and when you get stuck grab the sword and you shouldn't get caught by the gaurd. If you do load the game and try again. Once you get it return to the mages guild and go to the desk where the lady is now standing talk to her and then select enchant. Select your sword as the item. If it already has to many enchantments on it it won't work. I used glass longsword for this. Select the gem as the grand soul gem. Change the effect to constant and then add the fortify luck spell (Jack of all Trades). And then switch the grand soul gem with the one you took from the other thieves guild. You now enchant the item and your luck will consantly raise.

Simply not of sufficient quality to include on the article. Spelling is awful; first person usage; no formatting so it's TLDR, etc. rpeh •TCE 05:17, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
TLDR indeed. However I did read it, and after doing so I suddenly realized that unreadability may be beneficial, if it prevents some poor sucker from actually taking the advice. Downstrike (talk) 11:40, 4 February 2013 (GMT)

Permanent Corpses![edit]

I have the GOTY PC version of Morrowind/Tribunal/Bloodmoon. I have summoned daedra permanently as described on the Morrowind:Cheats page, and when they die it is impossible to remove their corpses! Has anyone else experienced this and is it worth mentioning in the article? Perry Stalsis 14:08, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

A relatively minor cheat[edit]

I've just discovered a simple but nice cheat to give you some extra loot at the start of the game.

In the Cencus and Excise Office, in the room with Socucius Ergalla, there is a limeware platter (value 650) on the shelf.

Initially, if you steal any items in the room, you won't be punished for it - the guard will just confiscate the stolen item and tell you that if you do that again, you will be punished. (This period of grace appears to end once you leave Socucius Ergalla's room).

So once you have got your inventory, pick up the platter, then immediately go into menu mode and drop it on the floor. Unpause, and the guard will warn you about theft. Once he has finished talking to you, pick up the platter again and voila! - one free piece of loot worth 650.

This is a pretty minor exploit compared to some of the others sdescribed here, but its a nice bonus to start your adventures with. 86.179.154.41 22:55, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure this is already on the site, I don't remember on wich article but I have seen it here. --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 23:31, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Permanent Golden Saints instructions[edit]

It doesn't really seem like it tells you what to actually do with the spells once you have purchased them. It just tells you to look at the ground while casting, but that doesn't really clarify what you're supposed to cast and in what order. Could someone make some sense of those instructions? 67.142.162.22 01:21, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Steal Everything[edit]

I found out how to steal everything from someone and have only 1 bounty. Go to somewhere like Ra Virr's in Balmora, and steal something worth 1 gold. Now he will attack you, so kill him. Now, find a guard and pay the 1 gold. Go back to the place and steal everything then sell it. Do you think it should go on the page? — Unsigned comment by Tdog1324 (talkcontribs) at 23:35 on 18 November 2011

Restore health, magicka and stamina[edit]

step one, highlight whatever one you want to increase in your menu, then enter these codes HEALTH: black, white, black, black, black, hold A, MAGIKA:black, white, white, black, white, hold A, STAMINA:black, black, white, white, black, hold A. One really cool thing to do with this is when In battle do this cheat with your health but keep holding A when you press B to exit the menu, with this when you take damage it will regain without having to do the code--LOKI (talk) 22:15, 5 September 2012 (EDT)

Permanent Effects[edit]

Version MCP 2.0 I tried the permanent effects thing with 1 second levitate on self, 1 second light on target, 50 foot radius and stood very near an NPC in the Morrowind mage guild. I stood as close to the NPC as possible and put the pointer as close to the NPC as possible without actually selecting the NPC. Then I cast the spell while looking at the ground. Neither the NPC nor I ended up levitating indefinitely. Next I created a spell of Summon Golden Saint on self 1 second and a spell of Soultrap 1 second on target 10' radius. I looked at the ground and cast. It said: Your crime has been reported. You have been expelled from the Mage's Guild. Your spell did not get a target. A box also opened up saying: "SpellEffect adding sound 'conjuration hit' for invalid target!" Continue running executable? Yes/No. I hit yes and it said "Trying to AddTmpSound with invalid reference!" Continue running executable? Yes/No. I tried yes again, then it just crashed outright. So then I reloaded and created a spell of Summon Golden Saint on self 1 second, and a spell of Soultrap 1 second on target 1' radius and went outside. I walked far from any creature or object, looked at the ground and cast it. I got 1 second of Golden Saint - nothing permanent. So either this 'tip' never worked or it's been fixed in MCP 2.0.Zosimus (talk) 21:00, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

Get rid of bounty for free[edit]

Go to balmora and join the thieves guild, in the south wall cornerclub. The man downstairs behind the counter can take care of your bounty for a price. To get rid of it for free, drop all of your money in a crate outside of the cornerclub. Go inside and talk to the man behind the counter and choose the topic of removing the bounty from your head. Accept to pay, and because you have no money in your inventory, you will not lose anything and your bounty will go away. Then just go back outside and grab all of your gold.--LOKI (talk) 01:59, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

Added Werewolves and Permanent Fortify Attributes[edit]

I've gone ahead and copied the section I posted to the Glitches page on this page, because it can very easily be exploited as a cheat. Some players may choose to permanently augment their attributes to save inventory space and encumbrance from all those potions you'd normally need to carry. As you might expect, this does break the game pretty badly. While I made sure to test it over and over again, with both the MCP and MPP installed, this could be a glitch unique to my installation. Therefore if anyone is unable to verify this as a cheat (or glitch) please let me know. FrozenWolf150 (talk) 22:58, 20 September 2012 (GMT)

Undid revision for several reasons:
  • This section is rather redundant.
  • As mentioned in the notice, "A cheat here is... an exploit of unbalanced mechanics in the game to better one's character. A glitch... is a flaw in the game that is NOT meant to be there, even if a player can still take advantage of it.
  • You may want to consider moving it to the glitches page in the Bloodmoon namespace.
  • Contributors are strongly encouraged to write articles on the game as distributed by Bethesda (inclusive of official patches, expansions or plugins). Unofficial third party mods, such as Morrowind Code Patch and Morrowind Patch Project, are typically mentioned only when they are widely used to address a glitch. In this case, it might be better if this behaviour is first tested without MCP and/or MPP, noting the mods only if they are at all relevant to the behaviour being described.
Salamangkero (talk) 03:03, 21 September 2012 (GMT)

To clarify, I did test this both before and after the unofficial patches, which I neglected to mention. That said, I'll move it to the Bloodmoon page, since it really belongs there. FrozenWolf150 (talk) 00:47, 23 September 2012 (GMT)

How to get your Strength and Endurance really high![edit]

So as you all may know, Morrowind has an incurable disease called Corprus. As part of the game you are actually supposed to catch the disease in the Six house base quest. So first things first, after you have caught the disease (try your hardest not to rest) go back to Cauis Cosades and go forward with your next quest(Corprus Cure). Receive the cure from Divayth Fyr (Do not kill any inmates at the corpruasium). After receiving the cure do not yet take it there is still more to do. So now that you have the cure you can start to rest, keep resting for 24 hours and the corprus disease will worsen, after every 24 hours the disease makes your strength and Endurance go up one.

I'm not so definite about your endurance staying at the high level but your strength definitely will. after your strength and endurance reach the level you wanted them to consume the cure and voila, your strength and endurance go up with no expense and all the attributes that went backwards go back to normal. — Unsigned comment by 120.145.154.56 (talk) at 04:08 on 20 April 2013‎

This is already documented on the Glitches page. --Xyzzy Talk 04:43, 20 April 2013 (GMT)

killing without bounty[edit]

"Another way to do this is to create a piece of armor, such as a gauntlet, with a Constant Effect: Damage Health enchantment, then go into pickpocket mode and drop it in their inventory. If they are not already wearing armor of the type you used, they will put it on and be damaged by it. You will only incur a bounty for attempted theft, NOT murder". the last time I checked, you can't reverse-pickpocket in Morrowind. I'll try to do something like this later, but for now, can anyone attempt this and see if it works? --72.214.120.162 04:33, 16 September 2013 (GMT)

Definitely does not in OpenMW, which takes pains to match the original Bethesda mechanics. You can only do it by selling, and you will in fact get a bounty if there's a witness, e.g. a store guard. — Darklocq  ¢ 08:42, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

"infinite attributes cheat"[edit]

The "Free Money" section mentions an infinite attributes cheat, what does that refer to? Przemko27 (talk) 19:54, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

I believe what you're looking for is this: "The Soul Trap spell is commonly used for what is most often known as the "Soultrap Glitch", though it is known to work with many other spells besides Soultrap. By creating a spell which has Soultrap on Target and any beneficial spell on Self, for 1 second each, and then casting the spell at the ground below you, the beneficial spell will end up being permanent. You can do this repeatedly to increase your skills and attributes to godly levels." Just get a fortify attribute spell and use it with Soultrap like it says above. Lordofmagicvoldemort (talk) 20:42, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, but why isn't it on the main page? Przemko27 (talk) 14:22, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Super-potions update[edit]

I've merged the redundant Morrowind:Alchemy#Creating Super-potions and Morrowind:Cheats#Super-potions material (to the latter), and cleaned up the lot. (I proposed this in April, with no objection, and it being off-topic in the main Alchemy article and needing to be removed was proposed back in 2008, also without objection.)

Some previous super-potion discussions can be found at Morrowind talk:Alchemy, if people are looking for them, including one on testing of what the theoretical limits are.

"moved a paragraph" edit[edit]

I cleaned up the "Killing Without Bounty or Being Expelled from Factions" section by moving a paragraph into its own section, and rewriting it. To be honest it kinda looked like it was written by a 12 y/o and might not even fit in the article at all. I decided to rewrite it as catering to a barbarian-type playthrough instead of being a non-meta, odd-but-not-that-interesting trick that doesn't game the system to the fullest extent. Mods feel free to just nuke it if it really doesn't fit. 68.107.137.127 14:01, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Remove Everything But Xbox Cheats From Page[edit]

Alchemy breakthrough / Nalcarya exploit and Auto-Sneak at Sellus Gravius[edit]

I've used Muck and Scales to make a Drain Personality potion for sale. Starting early on with no spell or potion support I got few more than I've spent back from her, success << 50%. Disposition grows as does barter skill and alchemy oc, even without any support. The absolute useless potion helps to distinguish my crap from the good stuff in shop inventories. By spending 9dr for magic guild travel one can do Nalcarya and Creeper as well in one turn. Mark and Return for going back again or another 9dr. I've stolen her master's equipment and the grandmaster's mortar as well but you could buy it legally, working your way up in no time from the journeyman items (buy mortar, alembic for free from Tyermaillin).

Another thing I didn't quite understand was the auto-sneak training. Since I'm at the Code Book quest and my sneak skill ahem let's be quiet about this… So I went to Seyda Neen and trained sneak until Socucius Ergalla couln't teach me anything more. Sneak = 55 now. Then I went over to Sellus Gravius in sneak mode/chameleon and sneaked behind him. When the spell wore off, Sellus turned around and barked for some papers. Now sneak/chameleon and moving behind him again, standing between the two doors. Sellus still facing the wall. Watching the progress while using up my Amulet of Shadows: it worked! Without any chameleon spells every few second I'm detected, then hidden again. Slower progress but still leveling up. I'll leave my %PCNAME there over night ;-) Edit: about 8 minutes per level. Started 10:30 pm, checked 6:30 am: sneak at 100 :-D

Alchemical Breakthrough Cleanup[edit]

Just cleaned up the section on "Alchemical Breakthrough". Fixed some erroneous info: of all alchemical equipment, only mortar and pestle quality affects potion price. Also, removed A LOT of unnecessary info unrelated to "using-alchemy-to-make-money" cheat, most of which are already covered elsewhere:

  • Spoonfeeding the reader with duplicated info on merchants, their locations, their neighbors, what they sell, which potions can be made, how rich / poor they are, etc. (the link to restocking alchemy merchants is more than enough)
  • Training 12 times while waiting for merchant to restock (personal playstyle, unnecessary)
  • Inventory management for when you have too many potions (see section on Moving Lots of Loot)
  • Warning about Nalcarya obscuring potions left on the floor (see section on Moving NPCs)
  • Increasing merchants' disposition (see section on Raising Disposition)
  • Increasing merchants' stock (moved to Commerce page, where it belongs)
  • Where to find, how to steal, which potions aid in stealing and where to sell high-level alchemy equipment (personal playstyle, unnecessary)

Finally, renamed section to something more descriptive / intuitive and less sensationalist. Salamangkero (talk) 19:00, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
