One or two points of reputation for The Sad Sorcerer?[edit]

Morrowind:The Sad Sorcerer mentions that one point of reputation can be obtained through that quest, whereas Morrowind:Reputation promises two points ["Greeting him again (1 point)"]. What is true? --Dux2222TalkEmail 10:22, 11 July 2008 (EDT)

I just tested all options, only if you refuse any clothing reward do you get the reputation point. One point is the possible reward. --BenouldTC 14:57, 11 July 2008 (EDT)
From the raw CS data it does appear as though there was originally a way to get two reputation points from this quest - there's a line of dialogue that gives an extra rep point but there seems to be no way of getting it and it doesn't even show up if you look in the CS ("Thank you. Thank you again. I'm really, really grateful. And I promise -- I'll never get mixed up with smugglers -- or scamps -- again.", in case you're interested). I've tested it along with Benould and can only get the one point in-game. Best guess is that this was patched at some point. If a user with an unpatched game could check what they get, that would be great. –RpehTCE 15:06, 11 July 2008 (EDT)
Thanks, Benould and Rpeh. I would have sorted it out myself, but am not that skilled in using TESCS nor have I done the quest yet. --Dux2222TalkEmail 09:22, 12 July 2008 (EDT)

Nothing for Fighter's Guild?[edit]

Can someone confirm, there are actually 0 reputation points available from the entire Fighter's Guild line? 71.231.42.97 17:53, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

I did about 90% of the fighters guild quests, including becoming the head of the fighters guild, and still had 0 reputation. I dont know if any of the Sadrith Mora fighters guild quests give any. Halfstache 05:12, 6 July 2011 (UTC)halfstache

Max Reputation[edit]

Due to the three houses being mutually exclusive, you cannot get all 173 points. Also, some of these quests must be done in a certain order to obtain the maximum. I was able to get 148 points but it requires going telvanni and completing telvanni before main quest and juggling thieves and fighters. Several of the Redoran and Hlaalu quests can be done even if you're not in those houses. Maybe these conflicts as well as the theoretical maximum should be discussed on this page?--69.249.124.89 05:33, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

I believe the "Grand Total" serves as indication for the total amount of reputation points that can be given at a certain point in the game (to give a measure of value of a single Reputation point). I don't feel it promises you that you can acquire them all. --Timenn-<talk> 11:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Expansions?[edit]

Was reading this artical and wondered about reputation in the major expansions (Tribunal & Bloodmoon) does anyone know if there are any reputation points available through these? and if so I think it would be a good addition to this page. 124.254.80.71 11:23, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

All i can say is that you do not get anything from Bloodmoon if u work for the warehouse there (eben if you are the manager later on and have your house in Raven Rock ...) --189.97.58.27 19:20, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

reputation and disposition[edit]

Reputation has no direct influence on disposition. Anyone can easily test that by raising reputation via console (player->modreputation xxx), or alternatively just play without ever raising personality. Tollheit 15:12, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Please admin change this nonsense[edit]

Its not possible to edit the first sentences, but this years old nonsense should be changed. Reputation does NOTHING for contact with others, nothing for better prices, the ordinators still call you scum, even with 140 reputation. The ONLY thing which changes all this is PERSONALITY. — Unsigned comment by 87.168.191.27 (talk) at 20:57 on 28 August 2013

I'm not sure why you think it's not possible to edit the first sentence, you should be able to click the "edit" tab at the top of the page and make the edit you wish to make. The tab is right next to the "discussion" tab. — ABCface 21:13, 28 August 2013 (GMT)
Thanks ABCface, i was looking only on the right side for the edit bottom. At last a years old wrong info changed. — Unsigned comment by 87.168.130.245 (talk) at 22:59 on 20 September 2013
This is a pretty old discussion, but since there's clearly a lot of confusion about this it's worth mentioning that while Reputation does not directly increase your disposition with NPCs, it most definitely does help with all forms of persuasion except bribes and therefore can have a major impact on "contact with others." Specifically, each point of Reputation is exactly as significant as a point of Speechcraft, and as such your effective Speechcraft skill is the sum of your Speechcraft and Reputation (with other lesser bonuses from Personality, Luck, and of course Fatigue). You can test this with console commands quite easily: just make a character with low Speechcraft, set your Reputation very high, and try persuading someone and compare the results to when you have 0 Reputation. Just note that NPCs with exactly 0 or 100 disposition will always have the minimum 5% chance of success for all forms of persuasion (except bribes which still improve based on amount) and completely ignore your stats, skills, and Reputation so make sure you're talking to an NPC that doesn't already hate or love you if you want to test properly. The reverse-engineered code for the persuasion system detailing all of this can be found at http://wiki.openmw.org/index.php?title=Research:Disposition_and_Persuasion#Persuasion
I've added a short line mentioning this fact to the intro. 74.103.255.140 12:13, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Morag Tong Reputation[edit]

I think you get 13 points in total, 8 for the Advancements. You can become Grandmaster from rank 7 "Master" or you can get a promotion from Master to rank 8 "Exalted Master" and become Grandmaster after that. Please edit the Page!

Faction reputation requirements?[edit]

Is the required faction reputation for advancement in each faction documented anywhere? Would be a good addition to the page. --Agiletek (talk) 07:28, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
