Dumb question time! If you can't find the ring, will attacking either or both of these two be a problem? Somercy 12:25, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Probably not. Alphax 07:17, 18 March 2007 (EDT)

Bugged?[edit]

For some reason the trigger to end this quest never comes up, and it remains on my quest screen (I'm playing a new save, and this seems to happen to matter what I do). All I've got are all the official expansions, plus better heads/bodies. I recall this quest worked correctly for me on the Xbox... --Edwin Herdman 18:25, 18 March 2007 (EDT)

I'm on Xbox, and can't find the darned ring. Next time I'm in that neighborhood, I'm going to slaughter them both with impunity. Save the trouble, eh? Unless not finishing the quest affects anything? Somercy 12:38, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
Same Here! I played The XBOX version and the ring is not there. I got Fustrated and killed them both. When I check her corps she had Cruel Viperbolt Ring on her. Is this the ring? --Drift2Cyber 2:09, 10 June 2007 (EST)

Um i play XBOX an i found the ring b4 lookin at this page and i am gettn the bug mentioned at the top too(Sdharly 22:19, 27 October 2009 (UTC))

Yah I'm playing the X-box version you have to look for a really long time it took me like 5 minutes I'd just kill them. — Unsigned comment by 174.124.148.35 (talk) on 28 december 2010

Also on the xbox, and i figured out the bug. if you kill Synette before she gets an hit on you, you won't get the update.--The Hlaalu (talk) 20:30, 7 January 2014 (GMT)

I found the ring, killed the lady (one NPC), then escaped in panic. Later I killed the 2nd NPC but quest is still marked as incomplete (Windows, GOTY, no mods). --62.69.211.27 03:07, 5 February 2015 (GMT)

The One Ring[edit]

I'm looking for the ring but I have no idea where in the pool it is. So, after eading some of the comments here, I thinking about just nailing her and Tarvyn. But the problem is, if he's invisible, how do I hit him?? Any suggestions would be nice. I'd rather not use console cheats.

You can still see him he's not completely invisible you have to fight him in the end anyway so just kill them. It's a lot easier. — Unsigned comment by 174.124.148.35 (talk) on 28 december 2010

Where is the Ring[edit]

This ring can be found under the grass in the pool. The easiest way to find it is: Stand at the "entrance" of the pool. Go to the left-forward to the rock. You'll be near the third plant. Turn around and look to the water - you should see the ring or find it very quickly.

Also, Tarvyn is still visible, nearly 20% opaque. 22 June 2007

Azura?[edit]

When both attackers have been defeated, I hear the voice of probably azura, warning me that I should be careful of bad people or something (can't remember the exact lines)... Is this normal, because I can't find anything about this anywhere?

"No good deed goes unpunished" I think is the statement made - but I thought it usually happened when you found the ring, just before they attack, not after you kill them. I always thought it was one of the two women attacking you, not Azura or any other divine entity. (Though it's entirely possible they used the same voice-actress...) --TheRealLurlock Talk 00:53, 5 January 2008 (EST)

It is azura, im sure of it. because the ppl there dont have that voice cuz one is a dark elf and the other, i believe, is an imperial. even if she isn't, i herd her greeting as you walk up and that's not her. besides, who else talks like that but azura anyway(Sdharly 22:24, 27 October 2009 (UTC))

[Necro Edit] It isn't AZURA. Synette is a Breton Female probably originally intended to be Imperial, which is why her scripted voice message is voiced by Shari Elliker who also voiced Azura and all other Imperial Females. --RememberHlaalu 12:37, 15 November 2019 (GMT)

Amulet of shadows at lvl 1.[edit]

The amulet can be gotten without even starting the quest. It is a very useful amulet, you wont even need to sneak to stay unnoticed with its effects active.

The Ald'ruhn mages guild hall is a good place to get some powerful offensive scrolls at lvl 1. Purchase some and head to Gnisis. Travel north to the lake Synette is at. Dont talk to Synette. Her accomplice, Tavynu, stands on a hill a little to the east of Synette with the chameleon effect on her. This effect does not seem to wear off, but shes still visible. (You can talk to Tavynu, but she will just tell you to go away.) Find Tavynu and quickly fire three or four scrolls at her, she will die. Loot her corpse and teleport out before Synette even joins the fight. (scrolls of intervention can be gotten for free from one of the mages guild chests if youre a member.)

This does not break the quest. You can come back later, when youre more powerful, and talk to Synette, who will ask you to find her ring. The quest will play out as normal from then on, only her accomplice wont be helping her:)

For those that are having trouble with this quest[edit]

This works for both Xbox and PC. Once you have retrieved the ring, make sure you let Synette hit you with her initial spell/first attack. Once she does the quest will be marked as complete. The water have a tendancy to absorb whatever it is she throws at you so make sure you are above water level before that. This bug should be adressed at the main quest page.--The Lost Hlaalu Heir (talk) 21:03, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
