I've noticed when this enchantment is placed on bows, you have to be close to gain the benifit. Is there a range assosiated with this enchantment?

I read on Useful Spells that it is a touch only spell, though I can't confirm it(comp too slow to play). varka

On touch only?[edit]

What the hell? This was my favorite on Target spell in Morrowind! And why is there still an area slider? I don't get it. How can an On-Touch spell be an area spell? How can you touch an area? lol WRFan 17:50, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Easy enough. Every enemy that's in the area's radius loses health and you receive it. The larger the area, the more enemies that will likely be in the radius. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 11:20, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Reflect[edit]

How does Reflect Spell effect absorb? If you cast Absorb Health 10 points on an NPC with reflect spell 100%;

  • The enemy gets 10 HP and you lose 10 HP
  • The enemy gets 10 HP and you lose none
  • The enemy gets no HP and you lose 10 HP
  • Nothing happens as though it was resisted

Weakness to magic[edit]

Does weakness to magic amplify absorb health in any way?(magnitude or duration) I would like to enchant a sword with both(Example:Absorb Health 10pts for 2 seconds + Weakness to Magic 100% for 10 seconds) — Unsigned comment by 70.162.95.64 (talk) at 04:41 on 6 September 2010

Yes, that will work. It will both deal more damage and heal you more. The duration will be the same.--Wizy 04:58, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Need help formatting[edit]

The 4th note is messed up by the box on the right, can anyone fix that? I tried, but failed...--Catmaniac66 19:25, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm not seeing anything messed up anywhere on the page... --DKong27 Talk Cont 19:30, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Looks fine in IE9 and Chrome, even at narrow widths; I don't have anything else installed currently. What browser are you using, Catmaniac66? Robin Hoodtalk 19:49, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
I suppose that I should say that my Fx 3.6.13 and Safari 5.0.32 seem fine. --DKong27 Talk Cont 19:54, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Good point, it's important to know what it does work on too. :) Robin Hoodtalk 20:02, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Just for the full set, it works fine in Opera 11.00 (1156) too. rpeh •TCE 10:45, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Enemy Health Refreshed On Weapon Strike[edit]

I've noticed that if you use a weapon with an absorb health effect over a length of time and strike before the effect has ended that the enemy's health will be reset to whatever value it was at before the effect was applied. I made a weapon with the CS that does 0 damage but absorbs 25 health for 5 seconds. On the first strike the effect would play out as normal, draining the enemy's health over the duration of the 5 seconds. If, however, I was to strike again before the five-second period had been completed, the enemy's health would be set back at the original value, after which the effect would go on as normal. If I were to wait for the entirety of the five seconds, strike again, and then strike before the five seconds were up, the health would be reset to the value it was at after I had already damaged it. My health appeared to never be affected in this way, only the enemy's.

Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just a singular case? Peterpeterohsofeeter 21:31, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Duration[edit]

First off, can Absorb Health even have a duration? The description only mentions magnitude. Secondly, if it can have a duration, do you have to stay in touch range or can you run back and still keep absorbing? Warrior916 (talk) 14:40, 20 January 2014 (GMT)

Yes. The description on this page clearly states that the effect lasts for d seconds. And yes, you do have to stay within range, just like with the other absorb effects. This range is larger than touch range, though. It's roughly the same size as a power attack, IIRC.174.24.72.237 16:22, 13 May 2014 (GMT)

Difficulty[edit]

As I understand and from my testings, you are healed by the same amount, by which your opponent is damaged. This means playing on high difficulty will reduce both, the damage and the healing part. This implies that on high difficulties absorb health is much less effective than a combined equal-cost damage healt + restore health. Vice-versa for low difficulties. This might be worth a note in the article.
