Pickpocketing Scales[edit]

I've noticed if you pickpocket Aelwin, and steal the slaughter fish scales, (the ones you gave him to complete the fishing quest). You can't drop them again or sell them to any alchemist. You are just stuck with the stolen scales. They are a quest item so you can't drop them. So in other words it's probably a bad idea to take them.

Yup. They remain quest items even after the quest is complete. Already noted here. –RpehTCE 16:54, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

Chest in Aelwin's House[edit]

It's locked, and I was wondering if there was a key anywhere that would unlock it. I've not been able to find one in the house or around it, and there wasn't one on the body of Aelwin. If anyone knows the answer, it'd be greatly appreciated. Darkle 02:49, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

He holds the key himself. More details are on the Go Fish page. –RpehTCE 03:58, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
Ah, I see.. I suppose I should've talked to him again first. Thanks. Darkle 14:04, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
I wonder, does the retirement chest respawn? Because if not, killing Aelwin is not only a perfect Dark Brotherhood introduction, but would also give you a nice house for free... GenocideHeart 15:14, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Retirement Money[edit]

When I pickpocketed the key from Aelwin, I also noticed 802 gold. When I checked inside the chest, there was 21 gold. Does Aelwin keep his Retirement Money with him or was this just a misunderstanding? --Matthewest TCE 08:06, 18 April 2009 (EDT)

I just think the amount of gold in the ches is always very low. I was a level 20 something and got 14 gold and he also had more money on his body.--Corevette789 03:42, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

House ownership[edit]

Not sure if it's significant enough to mention, but I found it interesting that Aelwin's house, door and bedroll are owned by the Chestnut Handy faction, of which he isn't a member. I'm wondering if it's part of another uncompleted package or something, or just an oversight...? There aren't any clues in CS as far as I can tell, however. --Vometia 03:07, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

If you look around in the CS, you'll see it happens fairly often, likely caused by a copy-paste on a cell where not everything was changed over to the new intended purpose. --GKtalk2me 00:06, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

aelwin keys[edit]

if youve done the rumare quest and aelwin trusts you enough he'll tell you where his key is and every time you ask him and he tells you he'll have another key so if you keep stealing the key youll be duplicating keys! — Unsigned comment by 82.4.157.141 (talk) on 25 October 2010

Good spot. I've added that bug to the quest page. rpeh •TCE 13:56, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Dissappeared?[edit]

I pickpocketed the his key to the savings chest, then I waited 12 hours so he would wander around Weye. He's not there anymore, if you steal his key from him, does he disappear from the game, or is this just an odd glitch? — Unsigned comment by 69.166.166.13 (talk) at 05:49 on 16 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure he's still around, just look around, because taking his key will not make him leave the game ~ Dwarfmp 04:38, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
