EASY FIX FOR NO RING IN BOX!!!!![edit]

Ok i was stuck on this for ages, then finally found my way around it and its too easy. basically if the ring isn't in the box then its because the count is in alessia's side of the bed, basically whoever gets to bed first gets that side of the bed .... i tried going out and waiting then trying again multiple times but the box was always empty.

much faster and easier way around this is to simply go to the dining hall between 11pm and midnight and you will see everyone leaving for bed, simply obstruct the count as much as possible to let alessia get ahead of him and you will find her in the right side of the bed and ahdarji's ring will be in the box!!

countess still on her way to chorrol[edit]

The marker points me a ways away from the city on the road. The ring isn't there and she's not in the castle and when I wait she still isn't back. i'm thinking of killing her and taking the blood price. Can anyone relate?

Moved From Main Page[edit]

I moved this: WARNING: DIFFICULT TO GET PASTCOUNTESS'S BODY GUARD. off the main page since the person seems to mean well and it is somewhat useful although it needs a rewrite. I would do this myself but I'm currently trying to help sort out a pretty major problem on the Morrowind_talk:Spells page. Any thoughts on either this or the bug are appreciated.--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 16:57, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I don't think it needs special mention. The page already says "Beware, the guard is still patrolling" and I think that's clear enough. rpeh •TCE 12:10, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Easier way to get the ring, maybe a glitch?[edit]

Just tried this quest. instead of waiting for her to be asleep then sneaking in, I decided to attempt to somehow hide in her room while everyone was at dinner (about 10pm i think she leaves) then take the ring while she was sleeping. Once I arrived in the room with no hassle at all, I unlocked the jewelry box to take a look inside to find Ahdarji's Ring. Easy done and straight back out without seeing anyone. Im thinking this is a glitch, but it did save me some time! — Unsigned comment by 188.220.81.198 (talk) at 18:21 on 25 July 2010

Long list of problems, easy solutuion[edit]

Well, I activated the quest, (without getting any specifics, the quest was just added. I was told to talk to skriiva for my next job) then, I killed Mathias draconis and had to pay the blood price but was unable to 'pay fines and bounty' when talking to both doyen, halting the theives guild questline. A simple way to remedy this is to just bypass the quest and steal the ring. Make sure to have enough money to pay the blood price when you inform skriiva ( just in case) you'll then be able to pay the blood price and continue the questline.

2 BIG Problems[edit]

(moved from archive 1) firstly i was doing this quest and i dont normally read the conversations and didnt know it was a ring i needed to take. so i went in, when the countess wasnt asleep and took all the 3 things, the elder scrolls thing, the amulet and lesser soul gem, i got arrested after, thee stuff got taken away from me, and so i had tried again and again and again and the countess never puts the ring in the box i spoke to ahdarji again and i got my reward doubled but that was it... i also killed hlidara mothril and got the blood price quest started but skriiva never says anything about it. so i have no ring, a dead hlidara mothril and a blood price to pay. what can i do?? im so stuck and i really want to finish the thieves guild quest line.

Kill the countess maybe? If that won't work load an earlier save game.--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 17:42, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Hlidara is gone... O_o[edit]

When the count talked to me about Hlidara, the red map marker showed she was on the road between Bravil and the Imperial City. So after waiting 24 hours, seeing that the map marker was in the exact same place, I fast traveled to the Inn of Ill Omen, which was more or less close to her location. When i got there all I found was a riderless horse on the road, and a green map marker pointing to just before the horse. However Hlidara isn't there. My best guess would be the infamous "NPC fell through the ground the first second you started the game" glitch. Help...? O_O

i had this same bug. the green marker said i have to go right outside an ayleid ruin near bravil and neither her body nor the actual person is there. and she is nowhere to be found in the castle. luckily you don't need here though i just used the fix above where you hold the count and let the countess get on the right side of the bed. it works Klouderoth 00:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

INSOMNIA......[edit]

The countess wont go to sleep! Can someone help? (btw. Xbox version)

Oh wait. She will go to sleep. She won't put the ring in though

Blood price[edit]

Should it also be mentioned that killing the counts bodyguard will cause the blood price to be active Secret Chief 16:09, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Moved notes[edit]

  • The count and countess' bookshelf contains the book Warrior, a Block skill book.
  • The countess really doesn't like Argonians: if you ask to visit a prisoner after this quest is complete, the jailor will tell you "Since we don't have any Argonians, I can allow it. The countess won't allow visitors to Argonian prisoners."

I'm a bit iffy about the relevance of the second one and I won't protest if it is re-added,, but I see no relevance to this quest for the first one. --AKB Talk 04:10, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

I Can Not Find The Countess[edit]

Can the countess die? She is never in the church or at her evening meal at 8 and is not in her room at night. I have done the quest for Sanguine to crash a dinner party first if that has any impact on the quest. please help me. where would her body be if she is dead. She has completly dissapeared.

Good and easy fix[edit]

If you've run in to the glitch which causes Count Alessia Caro to be "stuck" in the dinner hall or if she sleeps in the wrong side of the bed, here is how I fixed it:

1. At around 10-11pm, enter the dining hall. (Count alessia and marius caro must both be in there)
2. Simply attack Count Alessia Caro and pay the fine.
3. Go back to the dinner hall and wait until both count marius caro and alessia caro start to leave.
4. If Marius Caro is ahead, obstruct his path. You can also attack Marius Caro with 100% chameleon on, which will cause him to flee. DO NOT attack him WITHOUT 100% chameleon.
5. Now Alessia Caro should arrive at her side of the bed first, and thus put the ring in the chest.
Yep, this works - thanks! Yoblivio 17:59, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Lockpick necessary?[edit]

I unlocked Amusei's cell before speaking with him, and he never asked for a lockpick before telling me about the countess having the ring. I have the unofficial patch supplement installed, so perhaps that makes him forgo asking for a pick when he can just walk out? MuddlingThrough 23:18, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

I STRONGLY suggest that you reload an earlier save and avoid letting Amusei out of his cell. It will cause the bug where he spends the rest of the game hiding behind the prison door and will give you a lot of trouble when it is his turn to hand out quests later on. Check out this section (the bug starting with serious for more information. --Krusty 23:37, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
It looks like the patch supplement took care of that. Or I was just lucky. Either way, I didn't have any problem with later thieves guild quests. Thanks for the tip, though - that sort of thing is why I compulsively save all the time.MuddlingThrough 19:16, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

got ring, but not like the quest said to, now quest wont finish[edit]

got ring, but not like the quest said to, now quest wont finish! I didnt go though the basement, i went straight to the room and got it. then i went thought the basement to the room, i still have the ring, but no update to finish ??!!?? — Unsigned comment by Schulerofp (talkcontribs) at 22:29 on 16 December 2011

How you got there makes no difference, as long as you got the ring. So first off, are you sure you got the right ring? Second, have you tried just going back to Ahdarji? Maybe you just missed the quest update. Finally, if that doesn't work, there's the old standby: reload from an older save and try again. Robin Hoodtalk 02:13, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Arrested, But Retained Ring[edit]

As the header says, I just got arrested trying to sneak out of the bedroom, but a guard caught me for tresspassing. Paid the 5gp fine and lost all other stolen items (of course) in my inventory, but the ring remained and the quest completed properly. Is this normal?24.138.8.13 15:27, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

The ring is a Quest Item and therefore has 0 weight and will never leave your inventory until you complete the quest. JackTurbo95 15:29, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Quest Gets Stuck at Stage 45[edit]

This has happened to me in two consecutive playthroughs. After speaking with Ahdarji, I talked to one of the beggars and found out that Amusei is in prison. Rather than bribing the guard, I snuck past him, picked the lock to the jail, and then picked open Amusei's cell. The conversation with Amusei went normally, after which he started to sneak out, and I exited the prison. At this point, talking to the beggars reveals nothing new, so I spoke to Ahdarji again and got the journal entry, "Apparently Ahdarji can use the ring to read missives and other castle documents written by the Count. She sells the information to other Counts of Cyrodiil. Now that the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, she has upped the reward to 200 gold coins." At this point, the quest gets stuck. The quest markers still point to the beggars, but no new dialogue options come up, so I can't find out about Hlidara Mothril. At this point, the only way to advance the quest is to steal the ring using knowledge from previous games. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm using the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, which is supposed to fix all the bugs with this quest, but for some reason, the beggars won't offer any new dialogue options. Has this happened to anyone else? FrozenWolf150 (talk) 04:40, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

This just happened to me too, with UOP installed -- I accidentally unlocked+opened his cell before talking to him, and he sneaked behind the prison door and planted himself there indefinitely. I even tried moving him via console commands, but he just sneaked back there. He did not ask for a lockpick and did not offer any useful dialog options. Ultimately I just found the ring on my own and completed the quest, and when I went to check on him he was gone. --HunterZ (talk) 20:03, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Caranya Blood Price[edit]

I got a problem with the blood price in this quest (PC - no mods)... With this quest active, I went to Fort Ontos for the Necromancer's Amulet quest, and got a blood price for... CARANYA??? Can anyone verify if it was just a one time glitch or if it is a error on the quest? — Unsigned comment by 188.251.61.39 (talk) at 02:16 on 19 February 2016 (GMT)

A small missing information[edit]

I noticed that in every Thieves guild before this there is at the start of the page the write "Difficulty:Low" or something similar... But there isn't written here... is this the correct section where i have to talk about that? 93.50.74.182 12:50, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
