Duplicate entries[edit]

Two ingredients, Human Heart and Vampire Dust, seemed to be duplicated each time they appeared. Now, I know that there are two varieties of Vampire Dust which can be combined with eachother to make potions, (not sure if the same is true of Human Heart), but that doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be duplicated in the lists, right? Plus, Bonemeal also has two varieties, but it's not listed twice. Anyhow, I removed the dupes, and also cleaned up the alphabetization a bit. Maybe some indicator should be added to the items that have 2 types, just an asterisk like on the main Ingredients page. -- TheRealLurlock 11:01, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

This comment was added to the main page by Tenaciousd tribute:
"I looked through and saw only bonemeal, vampire dust, and human heart marked with a *."
I can't tell what the intent of this comment is, so I've moved it here. Yes, those are the only ingredients with multiple varieties, why does that fact need to be repeated? --Nephele 16:08, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Good Grief, What Happened?![edit]

Not anything I changed in my edits, or any other recent edits as far as I can tell, but all of a sudden all the formatting is screwed up. Did somebody mess with a template or something? In case I'm the only one seeing this, all of the skill-requirements have somehow been seperated into Code-boxes. Can somebody fix? -- TheRealLurlock 22:28, 30 May 2006 (EDT)

Well, I finally figured out what it was and fixed it. Not sure why it had to be quite that convoluted a fix. (It's a good thing I came up with the technique of copying everything into Notepad in order to use global search/replace and then copy it back instead of editting right on the wiki, that would've been a pain to do by hand...) But it works, and looks good again. -- TheRealLurlock 00:03, 8 June 2006 (EDT)

Color scheme[edit]

I just noticed the changes on this page, and I'm wondering about the use of the colors. I know the bottles are pink for good potions and green for poisons, but generally, at least in most of the western world, we generally associate green with "good" and red with "bad", (e.g. traffic lights, light sabers, national terror threat level, etc.) so it seems like it's backwards to me. Anybody have any better ideas for this? --TheRealLurlock 14:38, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

Yep, I started by doing green=good, red(pink)=bad, then realized that it the game it is potion=pink=good, poison=green=bad. I'd be open to any suggestions, I just wanted to make the good vs bad info available somewhere (especially with that pesky dispel effect).--Nephele 14:54, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

Hearts of Order?[edit]

Someone listed the SI Hearts as having Fortify Health and Fortify Strength effects. I thought they only had "Jyggalag's Favor". Can someone confirm? --66.23.133.52 14:28, 30 May 2007 (EDT)

Confirmed.--72.64.49.133 05:46, 6 July 2007 (EDT)

Poison of Dispell?[edit]

No.--Webdemon00 23:46, 21 September 2008 (EDT)

Max Durations for Paralyze and Silence[edit]

At Alchemy level 100 with all Master equipment, my max durations (on the non-GOTY PS3 edition) for Paralyze and Silence seem to be 3s and 26s, respectively, instead of 4s and 33s. Is this a case of my version being different from other versions? --Fritzdis 21:57, 30 July 2008 (EDT)

Are you really a master of alchemy, with base (unfortified) Alchemy=100? Or are you using a Fortify Alchemy effect to boost your alchemy to 100? Because Fortify Alchemy effects are actually meaningless and do nothing to improve the quality of the potions you create (see Skill Benefits). You will only get the maximum values for potions once you are a master of alchemy. --NepheleTalk 23:50, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
Yep, definitely a master with base Alchemy=100 (the 100 is not green on the Skill page, there's no Fortify Alchemy listed on the Active Effects page). The magnitudes and durations of other effect match the listed max (Light 133 ft for 431 secs, Invisibility for 50s, etc.). Paralyze and Silence are the only ones I've seen that don't match (not that I've checked every one). --Fritzdis 01:44, 31 July 2008 (EDT)
OK, it looks like you're right; there's something strange going on with duration-only negative effects. The alchemy calculator values for Paralyze and Silence are off when I check it against the database of potion strengths that I used to develop all of the alchemy equations (the alchemy calculator being relevant, since all of the maximum values on this page come from the calculator). It probably means that I made a mistake when implementing one of the equations in the alchemy calculator. I don't have the time right now to do the necessary debugging, but I'll try to get to it in the next few days. Thanks for pointing that out. --NepheleTalk 20:56, 31 July 2008 (EDT)
Done, at last. --NepheleTalk 16:16, 11 August 2008 (EDT)

Monetary values of custom potions[edit]

I understand that there are way too many custom potion effects to list the gold values of every possible outcome, but I was wondering if there are any custom potions that are worth a considerable amount to sell. It seems to me that selling custom potions is kind of a ripoff. For example a built in cure disease is worth over double what a near identical custom potion is worth. Are there any custom potions that are worth say 150+ gold? and is their a formula as to how gold values of custom potions are determined?70.78.164.126 03:51, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Without testing every possible combination, I'm going to say "No". When I've finished a character I typically carry around a powerful Restore potion and an even more powerful Poison. Both sell for 56 gold. You say it's a ripoff, but I disagree. All the ingredients are free and you don't even have to pay for a bottle or enhancers as you do in, say, Dragon Age. rpeh •TCE 15:54, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I am currently trying to make a better chart on my sandbox[edit]

you are welcome to help if you have something Useful to contribute.

User:Candc4FTW/Sandbox this is what I got so far

Can you please stop this? We already have this sort of chart on Oblivion:Ingredients, we don't need to duplicate that chart here. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:53, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Edit:I honestly don't mean to seem to be so harsh here, its just that I'd hate you to see your efforts wasted. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:58, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
This one is in my opinion is more convenient then the other one, so why do i leave this here for a while and see which one the people, beside this one is more for people who just want to see what the ingredient does--Candc4 17:04, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
There is no reason too alter this one to match the other one, this one is for sorting the effects, not the ingredients. Either way this will end up creating unwanted redundancy, and is therefore unwanted. As I already said Oblivion:Alchemy Effects has a table that is virtually identical too this one, you are serving no purpose by arguing this point or working on this. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:10, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
I was discussing with you how this table might better suit alchemists, but your point, is valid as well, Perhaps this page Here could use a table--Candc4 17:14, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
