Arkved in Bruma[edit]

I just found this website recently and I thought I'd mention something odd I found in the PS3 version of the game. Sometime after completing the Vaermina shrine quest I happened to be entering the Bruma castle and Arkved was standing outside. When I tried to engage him in conversation it said he was unconscious. Later on I decided to see if anyone would care if I killed him. So with a guard standing right if front of me I did. There was no bounty at all. Anyway, I don't think this happened on the 360 version of the game. — Unsigned comment by 67.187.105.166 (talk)

I've had a similar thing happen with the guard captain who is trapped in a tower in the Kvatch oblivion gate. Long after closing the gate, I saw him in the same 'scared' position outside the Imperial City Prison, on the long bridge. He said the same things he does in the oblivion gate. I'm using the 360. That is covered on the page about Arkved. His faction is Bandit. No guards will react if you kill him.G-Raffe 08:33, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Vampire Feeding[edit]

Even though you get the icon, you cannot feed on Arkved. Any time you try to activate the option to feed it just says that he is unconscious. When I got to him it had been days since I had slept or waited, and so I decided to take the opportunity to feed on him. I waited a couple times to let the vampire level ups catch up, but then I couldn't feed on him, and my autosave was useless since I had waited multiple times. Just a warning to anyone else thinking about reseting their vampire level on him. --Shalley303 15:36, 29 March 2008 (EDT)

Deleted Notes[edit]

Spooked by the amount of unhelpful information, I decided to move this entire Notes section here for now. The only one worth keeping, in my opinion, is that killing him will not net you the attention from the Dark Brotherhood - and that is not really interesting either.

  • For fun, you can cast a paralyze spell on him. When it expires, he will stand up as if he's ready to fight back but then go right back to sleep... standing up!
  • If you cast a command humanoid spell on him, it will appear to do nothing. When you return, however, he is asleep standing up. Now when you cast it on him again then leave before it wears off, the next time you get arrested he will be standing next to you. Scarily enough, he actually follows you through nearby doors.
  • Arkved can be used to help leveling, since he never wakes up. He can be attacked and healed repeatedly, though care must be taken not to kill him. He is also a way to level your sneak as he never wakes up.
  • Killing him does not get the attention of the Dark Brotherhood.
  • It is impossible to feed on him as a vampire, because he is set as unconscious.

Opinions? --Krusty 14:08, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, no real information there. I think that's a pretty good edit.G-Raffe 08:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
I think the notes on the dark brotherhood and vampire feeding are quite relevant. Arkved is a unique npc and the articles on feeding and joining the dark brotherhood don't really cover his condition at all (or at least not anywhere a quick search can find). Including those two notes would fill in the gaps. RaidensTechSupp 09:31, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Agreed on all but the last 2 notes, I believe those 2 should be included, they are actually useful bits of info.--Catmaniac66 13:04, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
I've re-added the last two notes. --Legoless 01:54, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
The notes have been removed again. I think the last two, being directly related to the NPC, belong on the article. --Legoless 11:49, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Oops, didn't even remember this conversation - which must mean that I still hate the notes. I find them incredibly annoying (who cares about the Dark Brotherhood when you are doing a Daedric quest? We have an entire page filled with tips on how to join the DB anyway) - same with the Vampire-thing. Has nothing to do with the NPC whatsoever and belongs on other pages, if it even belongs. Should we also mention if killing Arkved will capture his soul for the last Daedric quest? We have over 1000 NPCs in the game, so people should be able to find someone else to feed on/kill for the DB. One of the main purposes of the OBNPCRP is to clean up pages for needless info - and this definitely qualifies as needless. I say, let people figure it out themselves. That being said, feel more than free to re-add them, just to prevent others that may find it relevant -- --Krusty 12:09, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps it would be better to say that killing him doesn't count as murder, as opposed to mentioning the Dark Brotherhood. The vampire feeding thing, in my opinion, is an oddity which is worth at least mentioning. --Legoless 12:51, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Maybe that's more relevant, at least for the NPC page. The other option is almost too DB-related, and we have removed such tips from NPC pages all over the site. If we start to mention the feeding thing, we should probably include it on pages like Roderick and maybe even Rona Hassildor for consistency. Is that a path we're willing to take? A more interesting bug directly related to Arkved is him standing up in bed after completing the Vaermina quest - that is worth mentioning, if not for anything else, maybe because its the most spooky thing in the entire game. ;) --Krusty 13:17, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

() Hmm, maybe the feeding thing isn't all that important - although Rona is a vampire herself, so that's understandable. I've added a note explaining why killing him isn't murder. If the "standing up in bed" bug can be pinned down, I agree that it should be included as well. --Legoless 18:30, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

The "standing up in bed" bug sounds like the same thing that affects the unconscious prisoner in Deepscorn Hollow. The bug note there states "If you cast a Paralyze spell on the cattle in the cell, paralyze him with the master Marksman ability, or achieve a knockdown with either Blade or Marksman, he will stand up but will not lay back down again. It is impossible to feed on him while he is standing up, and you still cannot talk to him." Just thought the info might help with confirming the bug on Arkved as well. Note about using Arkved for leveling..[edit]

I have been using him to level my Blade and Hand to Hand skills, my blades broke (and for some reason I can't dupe them pre-break and post-break, silly me...I forgot repair hammers) and I leveled my 35 skill to 50 using Arkved with Hand to Hand. The problem is...I went up from 6 assaults to 2543. Apparently even though he's considered killable, you can still obtain assaults for each hit...._. oh that looks lovely..."2543 assaults...0 murders, 0 largest bounty" hah hah, just noting it. TVthePunisher 04:51, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Odd. He's in the Bandit faction so I wouldn't have expected that to happen. rpeh •TCE 10:52, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I am not sure, but I believe in my experiences, I have gained gain assaults and murders for attacking/killing anyone who has not yet become hostile to me, or a hostile opponent who has not detected me and is not in combat. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 16:19, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
