Good work! You should add it to his page as part of the Oblivion NPC Redesign Project. Check a page like Dion for inspiration on how to write inventories.Krusty 19:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Bittneld and Emfrid[edit]

There are quite some dialogue lines in the CS, but the bugs say that practically everything is left out of the game, but is fixed by the Unofficial Patch. Should the dialogue be added with a note that you need the Unofficial Patch? I was wondering, because I assume only vanilla information should be added, but should we make this an exception? ~ Dwarfmp 12:10, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I was reading through that bug as well and took a look at all his respnses - and looked through Emfrid's dialogee for good measure. While I'm unsure how this whole back-and-forth conversation works with the UOP installed (it simply says: Fixed the dialog conditions in the Chorrol matchmaker mini-quest (does not appear in journal) between Bittneld the Curse-Bringer (guard captain) and Emfrid (Gray Mare publican) so that it works properly; most of the dialog was being skipped so that Emfrid would thank the player for telling Bittneld about her when this hadn't happened, and fixed Bittneld's daily visits to Emfrid after he says he will see her as they weren't working), the missing dialogue is definitely worth adding. Not in the main text, of course, but in the bugs section, on Bittneld or Emfrid's pages - the one with the majority of missing dialogue should be the one with the complete bug description, I think. An additional bug on Bittneld's page about his supposed Gray Mare visits should be added as well, including the fixed-vy-UOP-tag. --Krusty 12:22, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Yes, add it. There are many NPC pages that we include info that can be found only in the CS. Here you can see an example. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 12:25, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
The UOP creates a variable that controls the responses that appear. When you greet Bittneld ("I'm Bittneld the Curse-Bringer, captain of the Chorrol Guard. What can I do for you?") "BittneldTopic" gets added. At this point, talking to Bittneld about Chorrol gets you "There are a lot of fine-looking women in Chorrol. But they're all... kind of snooty. And not very nice.", and a variable called EmfridBittneld is set to 1.
When you talk to Emfrid about Bittneld ("Bittneld -- captain of the castle guard? -- he seems like such a nice fellow. Too bad I don't see him in here very much.") that variable gets set to 2.
Now when you talk to Bittneld about Chorrol he says "Oh, there are a lot of fine-looking women in Chorrol. But they're all... kind of snooty. And not very nice." and you are offered two replies: "What about Emfrid?" and "Is that so?". If you choose the first one, his disposition towards you goes up 20 and Emfrid's goes up 30, and the variable gets set to 3. Bittneld has an AI package that runs for 4 hours at 6pm if the variable = 3 where he goes to visit Emfrid in the Gray Mare, and the same variable changes Emfrid's Bittneld dialogue to "Did you say something to Bittneld? That was very sweet of you. Now he stops by here every day."
It's a sweet little mini-quest. Arguably, we could even create a quest page for it - there's more for the player to do than in Illegal Cargo. rpeh •TCE 13:27, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good to me; obviously, I can't be of much help since this is PC only, but we might as well get serious with those "unfinished quests". --Krusty 13:33, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Done :) rpeh •TCE 14:14, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Nice work - and sweet! No more odd questions about the weird dialogue. Only question is; Should Casta Scribonia be mentioned somehow? With the lines "Who is the fairest of them all? Other than myself? The proprietor of the Grey Mare is lovely. She and the guard captain would be a nice couple...." and "I hear that Emfrid and Captain Bittneld are spending a lot of time together. You wouldn't have anything to do with that, would you?", it appears she was intended to be the original matchmaker. Just a thought, though. --Krusty 14:32, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
That's a good idea. I'll leave you to add those if you like. The latter line appears when that variable is set to 3, incidentally. rpeh •TCE 14:39, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Gotcha. My guess is that she was intended to be the "quest-giver", probably along with Bittneld, so I'll change that as well. If anything in the CS or UOP says differently, just let me know. --Krusty 14:47, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

() All done! I'm not sure if the Quest-giver section is correct, but otherwise it's a pretty romantic page! :) --Krusty 15:24, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
