Version[edit]

Well, I'm level 31 and the statistic shows the damage being 21 but it shows 13 in my game, charges are 4160 which is correct, but the damage isn't? 75.108.133.63 01:01, 6 October 2008 (EDT)gold

That's the base damage. It will be different depending upon your Blade skill. Alternatively, it doesn't level up with you so if you received it at an earlier level you'll keep that version forever. –RpehTCE 01:09, 6 October 2008 (EDT)

waiting...[edit]

Out of curiosity, if I complete the quest earlier but wait and level up significantly before I go to get my blade, will it still level up until I get it?— Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) at 21:10 on 17 September 2009

Yes, if you complete the quest early but don't collect your reward you are able to get a different version. So, if you kill you the goblins when you are level three, but collect your reward at level 26, you'll receive the 25+ version. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 06:20, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Im level 15 currently and i saved before accepting it, then went on a chorrol murder spree that went all the way to the countesses chambers. This sword is awesome, Im going to hate to have to wait to get it. So im going to ask for some advice. This is on my second, less serious character where im not even playing the main quest line. I use this one to pretty much do the stuff i didnt do or dont want to do on my main one. Also with the Holiday releases coming up ill probably be playing oblivion less. In short, is it worth waiting or shall i get the sword now and enjoy it? Quick answer would be apreciated SneakyPenguin77 (also my Gamertag) 04:24, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
That totally depends on yourself. If you want the strongest version I suggest you wait. If you on the other hand want the sword now because you like it, do the quest now. It's hard to answer those questions since they are entirely subjective. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 11:25, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Might I suggest a balance of sorts? The Level 20-24 version is obviously better than the one you'll receive at level 15, and it shouldn't take you that long to raise five levels. This gets you a more powerful, effective sword while not costing as much time. Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 15:11, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
I already took it, like I said this is more of a goof off character, im not actively leveling up, I just do so whenever it comes around. Thank you for the input, though, because if i ever decide to do a 3rd character ill follow some of it. SneakyPenguin77 (also my Gamertag) 20:50, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

What's better?[edit]

Chillrend or Longsword of Winter?

I rather use Longsword of Winter, but Chillrend have Weakness to Frost 35% for 20sec, and 21 damage, but Longsword of Winter have 24... What is better option? — Unsigned comment by ‎Sexydjole (talkcontribs) at 23:10 on 28 December 2011

Well based on that I would go with Chillrend, but remember that the weakness to frost will only come into effect on the second strike so if you are going to be killing enemies with one attck then the Longsword will have more uses due to lower charge. On the other hand, chillrend looks unique.RIM 23:13, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Odd Charge amount[edit]

I received Chillrend as lv 5. The info on this site shows that you get 80 uses on every version. However, When my full 1280 charge value is present, it shows that I get 13 uses total.

Is this some odd skill-related thing or perhaps a bug? I'm using UOP and OOO with the appropriate official version # for them.
