The Reward items should be added to the Item page, as to let people know what the reward actually is.

Looking sharp guy's, Nice new map :) I took out the onerus map number colom and replaced the Hermaeus More entry that got bumped

Edit for searching[edit]

I'm not a wiki wizz - can someone adjust this article so that searching for "Daedric Shrine" will have this pop up as a link? I was unable to find this page with several searches and instead had to surf to it. -- Krep 14:17, 27 October 2006 (EDT)

Krep -- this page does pop up when you search on Daedric Shrine, it just shows up way down the list after all the Morrowind pages....if you're searching for something that is common across all the games in the ES series (like Daedric shrines), try including the game name in your search....if you search for Oblivion Daedric Shrine, you don't get all the Morrowind pages. --Hoggwild5 14:52, 27 October 2006 (EDT)
Thanks! Krep 10:55, 30 October 2006 (EST)

How do Daedric Shrines fit in storyline?[edit]

So I'm confused - how does a Daedric shrine fit in with the story line? I thought Daedra were evil demons that try to cross over from Oblivion. Isn't praying at their shrine and helping them in quests contrary to your goal of stopping them and closing the Oblivion gates? Are they technically evil? Is helping them, technically, evil? Are there any negative game consequences that should be added to this page for performing the Daedric Shrine quests? Krep 11:30, 30 October 2006 (EST)

The daedric princes are not all inherently evil, nor are they in league with each other against the inhabitants of Tamriel (see Lore:Daedric Princes for example). The only daedric prince involved in the oblivion crisis is Mehrunes Dagon; he does not have an associated daedric shrine quest. Some of the daedric princes, such as Azura, are generally considered to be "good". Although worshipping at daedric shrines may be contrary to the the state-sanctioned religion of the nine divines, there are no negative consequences in the game caused solely by doing the daedric quests. On the other hand, some of the daedric quests ask you to undertake immoral or illegal actions, for which there are the usual range of consequences. But I don't see that any general warning is needed on the page... there doesn't seem to be anything special about the daedric quests in this regard. --Nephele 16:16, 31 October 2006 (EST)

I have been struggling with the same question: I'm role-playing a "goody two-shoes" character and was very concerned about the immoral/illegal actions I was asked to perform during some of the Daedric Shrine quests. I've only completed six or seven of them, but so far Azura's quest seems like the only one that can be considered morally "good". That said, I found elsewhere on the site that each Daedric Quest completed adds to your fame, rather than infamy points. This is true even when the quests involve senseless murder. In short, I agree with the poster above that the issue shoud be addressed/clarified somehow. — Unsigned comment by Dawncroft (talkcontribs)

Seems like essential information for an _article_ (as opposed to a table/category) about 'Daedric Quests'; added Nephele's info to the page. - Laisren 05:33, 15 March 2008 (EDT)

Where do I get or buy Cyrodillic Brandy?[edit]

I'm just wondering because none of the shops that sells it.--ShakenMike 18:50, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Cyrodilic Brandy can be stolen from many nobles' houses, It can also be bought at the Main Ingredient or the Gilded Carafe in the Imperial City. Finally Bogrum Gro-Galash at the lonely suitor lodge has a chance of selling it. Again I must ask please do not delete this reply. Jadrax 21:19, 24 February 2007 (EST)
It should be noted that for some reason Cyrodillic Brandy looks like a pink potion bottle and not a dark beer or wine bottle. Finding it in homes is actually kind of hard, so buying it is your best bet. Also, thanks for the tip, Jadrax. --Mebestien 06:06, 26 October 2008 (EDT)

Map.[edit]

Shouldn't a map link be added to every Daedric Shrine in the "location" section. I can do that if it's necessary. --Mankar Camoran 09:40, 23 September 2007 (EDT)

Yes, adding map links to the table would be useful. While you're at it, I'd say you could also dramatically simplify the location column if you want. IMO, detailed instructions on how to find each shrine don't belong in this table. The table is supposed to just quickly provide the key information in an easy-to-scan format. For details, readers should be looking at the individual shrine pages. So my vote would be for nothing more than, for example, "north of Cheydinhal" as far as location information on this page. But if you're interested in working on the table, feel free to use your best judgment ;) --NepheleTalk 13:55, 23 September 2007 (EDT)

People who tell you where the shrines are[edit]

In addition to the (relatively) new preface about people telling you where the various shrines are, perhaps we should add a column to the table to indicate who tells you? I know in the past (cuz I did it! :Þ), it was added into location, which admittedly isn't a great place for it, but I find it much more convenient to go have someone mark the shrine on my map than to try to find it by "looking above the 'P' in Panther on my map" or what-have-you...especially since there are various map replacements out there which may not always be compatible with the directions given.

Any thoughts? --Robin Hood 15:21, 13 February 2008 (EST)

As far as I know, the information is still available on each individual Daedric quest page. One problem with trying to include it in the main table is that the information is somewhat "messy". For some shrines, nobody tells you about the location. In other cases, there may be two or three people or even a book. And in each case, you need to specify which of the two topics is relevant. But if you can find a good way to summarize the information within the table, go for it!
Also, just to nitpick ... the preface is not "(relatively) new", unless you consider text added in July 2006 new ;) --NepheleTalk 02:18, 15 February 2008 (EST)
I was thinking of something like the table below (if I can manage it...we'll see), where you'd simply add the name(s) of the person or book or whatever. Presumably you'd add it as a link. This would be particularly beneficial for people like me who print the page so they can refer to it while playing. Oblivion IS a little irritating when it comes to swapping out after all. Oh and yes, you're right about the preface not being new; I thought it had been added in light of the people being removed from the Location column, but I see now that it was there long before that. Anyway, here's what I was thinking of for the table:
Shrine Quest Reward Level Req Offering or other requirement Who/what marks it on your map Location
Azura Azura's Star 2 Glow Dust Trayvond the Redguard
Ulene Hlervu
Modern Heretics
Almost Due North (NNW) of Cheydinhal Castle, past Lake Arrius. (map)
Or maybe a bit more verbose?
Shrine Quest Reward Level Req Offering or other requirement Who/what marks it on your map Location
Azura Azura's Star 2 Glow Dust Trayvond the Redguard (Cheydinhal Mages’ Guild)
Ulene Hlervu (Castle Cheydinhal)
Modern Heretics (Cloud Ruler Temple, Arcane University, et al)
Almost Due North (NNW) of Cheydinhal Castle, past Lake Arrius. (map)
PS: I fought with these freakin' tables for about 10 minutes before getting it right...so if you think I'm onto something, please PLEASE add the column to the original page so that I only have to add content. If nobody but me sees the need, though, that works for me too...less work! ;) --Robin Hood 13:21, 15 February 2008 (EST)
I'd vote for the less verbose option. And while you're at it (wink, wink) it would probably also be good to check that the NPC/book pages all provide full details on the Daedric Shrines (e.g., what topic you need to ask about, whether or not you need to have read the book first for the topic to appear, etc.) And as you've probably noticed by now on the wiki... if you want to get something done, the fastest way is to do it yourself ;) So I don't know if I'd hold my breath waiting for someone else to add the column to the table... --NepheleTalk 14:51, 17 February 2008 (EST)
I was afraid you were gonna say something like that. Just don't blame me if I screw something up. :Þ I wouldn't leave any visible problems, of course, but as I discovered yesterday while editing the tables, some problems aren't visible until you start to make other changes. --Robin Hood 15:46, 17 February 2008 (EST)
See, was that so hard? ;) It's looking good! --NepheleTalk 02:47, 18 February 2008 (EST)
Actually, just adding a column turned out to be easy enough. The hard part yesterday was figuring out what I had to copy to insert only part of the table, and how to terminate the table. UGH! :)
Oh and as for the NPC pages, I'll go through the CS first and enter whatever I find on this page, then once I'm sure I've understood it all and have it all correct, I'll go back check the NPC pages and the like. And if some zealous newb editor gets there before me because they want the edit count to bump up their ranking in the Top 50, I certainly won't complain. :)
Off-topic, how would I link to the Top 500 instead of Top 50, above? Do I have to do it as an external link? I tried adding "&limit=500" to the internal link and it didn't like me. --Robin Hood 12:47, 18 February 2008 (EST)
Yes it'll need to be an external link - unless there's some clever parameter I don't know about. –RpehTCE 13:34, 18 February 2008 (EST)
Okay, all done. I made sure that all the NPC pages had the map marker info in their notes, and all the Shrine pages had the info somewhere near the top (and to be consistent, I also noted if there was nobody who would tell you for all of shrines that that applied to). The various Shrine pages could use some serious harmonizing in terms of section titles/content/formatting, but I'm not up to doing that any time soon. Might be something to add to that list I've come across somewhere, the "things someone with editing skills and time on their hands can do to help out" list. If I knew where that was, I'd add it myself. :) --Robin Hood 17:57, 18 February 2008 (EST)
Okay, I'm done...again. I've changed all the topic headings so the second word (shrine/cult) is entirely lower-case, to match the CS (and therefore, I assume, the game). I also added the topic headings required in all cases. If I missed anything, I'm sure someone will point it out. :) --Robin Hood 15:01, 19 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks, Robin Hood :) --NepheleTalk 17:26, 19 February 2008 (EST)

Link to Quest[edit]

I'm not very good at wiki editing, but can someone make a link in the table to the quest itself, just so you don't have to click the reward and then the quest to get it. — Unsigned comment by Jim 909 (talkcontribs)

The first column already has a link to the quest in it. –RpehTCE 11:43, 21 February 2008 (EST)

Footnotes Question[edit]

I changed my recent additions to now use the <ref> notes instead of manually inserted ones. In looking up how to do it, however, I found that there are actually multiple ways, including <ref>, <cite>, {{ref}}/{{note}} (which don't seem to work here), and a few others I never got to. Is there a preferred way for doing footnotes on UESP? --Robin Hood 18:05, 23 February 2008 (EST)

The ref notes were a good idea :) Based on some discussion we chose to add the cite extension for doing references. Somewhat confusingly, the cite extension only adds the <ref> tags. Presumably there's some other wikimedia extension that adds tags such as <cite>... and if the tags don't work on UESP it means that we don't have the extension ;) Similarly, {{ref}}/{{note}} won't work here because we haven't created those templates. So in other words, yes, ref tags are our preferred way of doing footnotes, and therefore the only way that we've installed on UESP. --NepheleTalk 22:35, 23 February 2008 (EST)
Thanks, Nephele. Next question: should I have left the <refernces /> tag in there to keep the references at the bottom of the table, or should I have taken it out, in which case I gather they'll somehow get magically inserted at the bottom of the page (which is currently the same place anyway)? --Robin Hood 22:41, 23 February 2008 (EST)
As far as I know, you have to manually add the <references /> tag. Without it, the references get left out; they are not automatically inserted. --NepheleTalk 23:02, 23 February 2008 (EST)
Yup, looks like you're right. The Wikipedia info was a bit confusing, but I think maybe I understand now what they were saying about putting a <references /> tag in temporarily. They basically didn't want you to leave it in and have two of them, I think. :) --Robin Hood 23:45, 23 February 2008 (EST)

Bug?[edit]

An above user (forgot his name) said that all the shrine quests except Namira's add fame (hers gives nothing), and he is right. A question: Is this a bug, misunderstanding between a user and game or...Drake3555 22:08, 3 June 2008 (EDT)

Is what a bug? The fame increase is clearly stated on both this page and the fame page. --Gaebrial 04:08, 4 June 2008 (EDT)

Molag Bal[edit]

Alberic Litte will direct people to this shirne if they need a master trainer of conjuration. However a waypoint is used, not the shirne map marker. Why both aren't activated is beyond me. I leave it to UESPWiki to decide. 68.204.225.147 15:46, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

This is covered on the quest page, which seems more appropriate than trying to squeeze into the Daedric Quests overview, since it is not technically a marker for the shrine itself. --NepheleTalk 21:09, 23 August 2008 (EDT)

Hermaeus Mora[edit]

It is possible to fail a daedric quest and still be able to perform his quest. I killed Countess Alessia Caro before accepting the quest for Sanguine which meant I failed his quest but I was still able to do the quest for Mora after finishing the other daedric quests. I was also able to keep the Stark Reality spell which would normally leave the spell inventory after the quest is successfully completed so I can now disarm enemies if I'm far enough away and move in for the kill afterwards. I did this on the xbox 360 so I do not know if this works for the PC version as well. — Unsigned comment by 24.32.97.203 (talk) on 18 June 2009

Question :D[edit]

Aren't there Daedric Princesses? Please confirm and edit. Some of the text in the article says Daedric Princes. --Brickcrafter 20:40, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Alright, solved ty Alpha :D (They are genderless)--Brickcrafter 20:40, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Though to be fair they are occasionally called princesses. They are almost only ever called princes though. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:46, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Numbers?[edit]

Multiple times the loading screen that appears after entering Oblivion states "There are thirteen Daedric Princes, each with his own plane of Oblivion" But there are Fifteen Daedric Quests. Even more, we know Mehrunes Dagon is one but he has no Shrine quest. That is three Quests too many. So that means either the loading screen is wrong, or some Daedric quests are not from Princes. I know it is not Princes Vs Princesses Because i Can think of more than three princesses. Oblivionite 22:04, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

This is what the screen actually says (Taken from this article):
"There are sixteen daedra princes, each with his own plane of Oblivion."
Technically this is wrong, as there are actually seventeen princes counting Jyggalag, but than again no one cares about him, also he was technically Sheogorath so the number was mostly right. Please check your facts before asking questions. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:21, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Harmonizing the Section Titles[edit]

I've been working on this section for awhile, but before I went any further, I thought I would ask if everyone was okay for these headings in the detailed walkthrough. These would replace every heading for every daedric quest:

  • Locate the Shrine
  • An Offering to the Gods
  • The Task at Hand
  • Return to the Shrine

For examples see The Boethia or Azura Quest pages--Grim765 23:00, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Some variation would be nice so that every page isn't the same, so I would prefer for the rest of the pages to be left alone. Vely►t►e 01:02, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorting levels[edit]

Would it be possible to set up the sort for Levels in the table to sort numerically instead of almost, but not quite alphabetically? It would make it much easier to see which quests can be done at a particular level that way. 199.195.165.117 14:06, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
