Dialogue[edit]

I know he really hates Kajiit, and makes jokes about them, so what does he say if you are a kajiit?--Arch-Mage Matt 20:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Create a Khajiit character, visit him, and check for yourself? --Timenn-<talk> 08:52, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't make a difference. A bold fellow, that Dar Jee. If you're into roleplaying, it's kinda hilarious to imagine the faces your Khajiit character might make while he does that, though. 71.74.71.250 06:42, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Somebody test and explain this "Glitch"[edit]

moved from the article, where it appeared as a "note"

  • There is a glitch on the console version. If you have the old version then you may not be able to barter with Dar Jee at random times. Either walk away and wait for an hour, walk into a building and back out, or follow him until he enters the Five Claws Lodge again.

That note is poorly written (sorry to the contributor) and needs to be explained much, much better. I moved it here until somebody can verify and rephrase it. For the record, I have never experienced this "glitch" on my GotY version and I suspect it is caused by him not being able to barter while shifting locations (like all the other TG fences). --Krusty 07:48, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I checked him in several stages and couldn't find anything wrong with his bartering services. He only shows typical fence behavior, so I added a bit of info to the page. Hopefully, that covers the problem. --Krusty 15:49, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
I encountered the same problem. He wouldn't barter with me in the street during the night. When he started walking and I aproached him again, he did offer his services. Maybe this is due to fences trying to stay discreet by not bartering while traveling from one place to another. I'm not exactly sure how the AI packages are set up, but it is a fact that no Fences will ever barter with you while "moving" from one place to the other. When he denied you services, it was probably because his packages just changed and he was on his way somewhere. --Krusty 23:03, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
I came across this glitch and tested it thoroughly. For me there has been no specific time or place where he will or won't barter with you. It seems to be randomized. I followed him for a day and checked with him every few steps. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. -- 17:05, 23 February, 2011 — Unsigned comment by 142.162.67.137 (talk) at 20:35 on 23 February 2011
Hmm, that is odd. Fact is, each and every time he moves to a new place (look at the schedule for specific times), he shouldn't offer bartering services; however, once he arrives at the destination (say, Five Claws Lodge) he will barter with you again. Sometimes he simply moves from one spot (a so-called radius) in downtown Leyawiin to another and will not offer services while moving. I have checked this countless times, but something could be wrong - if you could be a bit more specific (where in the TG quest line are you?), it would be very helpful. --Krusty 11:55, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
First found this "glitch" with Dar Jee, the Bandit Fence, in my GOTY (PC) version, It was Morndas, 4:29 pm Oblivion time. I had just finished the "Adharji's Heirloom" quest and was visiting Dar Jee with some stolen property to sell in order to qualify for my next assignment. He was standing knee-high in the North East, corner pond in Leyawiin when I approached him. He asked me if I needed a 'Fence' but offered no Buy/Sell option no matter how many times I spoke to him. I even bribed him up to a 60pt disposition toward me, without success. I didn't realize then that this is an odd occurance with Oblivion. I did manage a fix for my situation though, and it's something anyone can try to fix the problem. I simply went into a store sold some items (to access 'Auto Save' function), exited the game to the Main Menu, and reloaded the Auto Save. I found Dar Jee a little more cooperative this time, with full, barter features.
EDIT: The problem is that my suggested 'fix' doesn't always work. I tried an experiment with a previous save and proceeded to Leyawiin to see Dar Jee as before. When I found him, as before he didn't have any barter options available. And so I proceeded with my suggested fix, by selling something in store, exiting the game, and reloading the auto-save. This time however, it did not fix the problem, supporting a previous post that this bug is intermittant/random.
The Elder Scrolls Wiki (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Dar_Jee), reports no such bug with Dar Jee, it says this about him, and I quote: "He will offer his illegal bartering services at all times, provided you have fenced enough stolen goods and have the rank of Bandit." It is reasonable to assume from this, that not everyone has experienced this problem. The Wiki also adds that Dar Jee will not offer his barter services while between destinations (also Krusty - here).
Further, to my experiment... after failing to fix the problem, I decided to wait an hour and try again. I waited until around 5pm but failed to sell items. I waited again until around 6 pm before Dar Jee left for the Five Claws Lodge, but failed again. And again, I waited until after 7 pm where I found him in the FCL and this time he was ready to buy from me. I did no further testing from this point, but will probably keep the save for future reference if it proves worthy of further investigation.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything further to this problem that I could find. The "glitch" seems to be more annoying than game breaking. It's my conclusion, that in time, Dar Jee will eventually be available for bartering, the player just has to be patient and wait, while testing repeatedly, much as I did. Dar Jee's actual schedule can be found on the link provided above, and I actually found him by using the "Current Quests" page, selecting "Independent Thievery" (or similar), then looking for the green arrow, on the detailed map - for those having trouble finding their Fences.

() Okay, get this. Dar Jee has a package at the very top of the list named DarJeeMWFSwim. This is set to happen on Morndas, Middas and Fredas at 2pm and last for four hours. Obviously, Dar Jee will never find his way into the water, let alone swim (I’ll run some tests tomorrow), so during that time, it is quite possible that he will be “on his way” to a location (the pond) and will therefore never offer services at these times. More to come, as this is probably the explanation for this entire thread – and sorry for the late response! --Krusty 01:02, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Can't buy back corn[edit]

Came across a peculiar glitch. Playing on xbox with goty, silver-tongued Imperial thief. Can sell my stolen loot fine, then i go to buy some of the items back (got the credit for fencing but still want the item, without the stolen flag). Buying back Corn locks up the game! Must shut off console and restart whole thing. Sure am glad this game has autosave! Still, why should only one item cause this? Maybe it can't find the sound effect? And it is only for Dar Jee. No problem with Ongar. — Unsigned comment by SamiteAlchemist (talkcontribs) at 15:10 on August 26, 2011

I can't find Dar Jee![edit]

I've followed all the notes, but I can't seem to find him anywhere! I have the xbox version... Is there anything you would suggest?? EDIT I found him wandering around in front of his house at 10 PM, on morndas. Did I read the page wrongly or is there an error? --70.94.117.178 17:45, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

You read the page wrongly. He wanders around town from 8pm to 6am, so finding him in the vicinity of his house at 10pm sounds reasonable. --Gaebrial 13:57, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
