Artifact[edit]

Last night before the game crashed, I was in Chorral and was approached by a man who gave me a note.
It was because I sold some artifact. in the process of the conversation he mentions The Grey Fox and gives me the conversation prompt. -Synapse001 11:52, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

I'm guessing since you mention an artifact that the man was Jollring, who was giving you the note that starts The Collector. I don't remember the Gray Fox coming up in that conversation, though... can anyone confirm? --Nephele 12:50, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

Wanted Poster[edit]

According to the notes, you should just be able to read the Wanted Poster or hear about the Gray Fox, and then you can walk right up and join the Thieves' Guild. That didn't do it for me, so I'm guessing this may be personality-dependent or something. I had to talk to a beggar before Armand would speak to me about the Thieves' Guild.--Robin Hood 22:35, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

You can join the thieves guild right away by talking to Armand Christophe if his disposition towards you is high enough. If you talk to him in the garden of Dareloth (at midnight) with both Methredel and Amusei present, he will immediately offer you the opportunity to join. User:Dio 225

  • I just happened to be hopping along and saw 3 NPCs standing around, so went to investigate. The thieves guild options appear as a subject, and your are instantly invited to join.

Mysterious Note - new question[edit]

I've just noticed the Mysterious Note on the notes page. I can't find any reference to it on the site, but it looks like another way of starting this quest. Has anybody found this note or is it just another item left around in the construction set? (PS - this isn't the same as the Invitation from Umbacano mentioned above.) --RpehTalk 08:32, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

Isn't that just the note from The Budding Thief option of the quest? Although that section probably does need some expanding, for example providing a link to that note and giving the name of the representative. --NepheleTalk 10:01, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

Infamy[edit]

Just played that quest and I did not receive an infamy point. In fact, it wasn't until I finished the following quest that I gained my first infamy point. --Gez 17:29, 6 January 2008 (EST)

I think you're right. At least, when I last joined the Thieves' Guild, my character had only 1 infamy after completing the 'may the best thief win' quest, and it would make more sense for that one to give you an infamy point (for actually joining the guild), rather than you getting infamy simply for finding them. I'll request verification, for somebody more knowledgeable to respond. --Gaebrial 03:47, 11 January 2008 (EST)
I can't see infamy in any of the quest stages, so it looks like the article is wrong. My guess is that it got added here in the first place based upon the general note at Infamy stating that you receive one point for each Thieves Guild quest. In any case, I've now removed it. --NepheleTalk 04:40, 18 January 2008 (EST)

Quest does not show up in "Completed Quests" page in Journal[edit]

I am level "Shadowfoot" in the Thieves Guild and my friend is the "Gray Fox." We both play on Xbox 360, GOTY edition. We both double checked our journals: the quest does not show up in "Current Quests" nor in "Completed Quests." It's not a big deal, but I wanted to verify that this was normal. Also, are there any other Quests that disappear from your journal when finished? --Amsuko 00:44, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
