Night Eye vs. Nighteye

Just so you know, I changed these back because the items in the game use "Nighteye" as one word, with the exception of "Helmet of Night Eye", which is not hyphenated. --TheRealLurlock 22:04, 26 July 2006 (EDT)

I think it's okay to always refer to the spell effect as two words, since that's how it appears. But keep the item names as they appear in-game as well, just for accuracy's sake. (Even if it's misspelled, as several items I've found are.) --TheRealLurlock 22:12, 26 July 2006 (EDT)

Shorter page?

Could the page be split into smaller ones? Fortify skills apparel could be on another page I think. What about two categories: spell effects and fortify attribute effects. So Detect Life and Frost Shield would be one page and fortify Athletics and fortify Health on another. -Supergoober 20:02, 30 September 2006 (EDT)

I dont think this page should necessarily be split up. The way it is now you can search he page using control/F to find all the wearable items that give certain effects (at least the random ones). Rhapsody Moon 10:31, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Stacking Magic Rings

"You can wear a Grand Ring of Steelskin (15% Resist Normal Weapons) and a Quartz Cuirass (also 15% Resist Normal Weapons) at the same time , to get a 30% effect."

The cuirass is not a ring, but the point is that you can wear two different items with the exact same enchantment, and both enchantments will take effect. It's meant to be an example of what is possible, and there is nothing incorrect in the statement, so I don't see a need to delete it. Loot levels

If you have exceptionally high luck, you may rarely find items at slightly lower levels.

I'm not sure what exactly is the basis of this statement. The accompanying edit summary said that "Found glass gauntlets in Greenmead Cave at lvl 20. +100 luck spell active." But unenchanted glass gauntlets are always available at level 20, see Oblivion:Armor#Leveled List Info. So from the provided facts there doesn't seem to be anything at all unusual going on here. If on the other hand these were enchanted glass gauntlets (contrary to the provided information), having the details of which glass gauntlets they were would be pretty important to figure out exactly what leveled list uses those gauntlets. In other words, I think it would be worth having somewhat more complete info on what exactly happened here before making a generalization that all equipment is available at lower levels with high luck (especially since a huge number of controlled tests have not found this result). --NepheleTalk 00:38, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

Ring of Vitality

I have used the Ring of Vitality consistently since acquiring it and I have noticed it does not grant immunity to poison, disease and/or paralysis as the enchantments on it imply; while wearing the ring:

I have been paralyzed (crumpling to the ground) during a fight while my fatigue was not fully depleted.
I have contracted Tunnel Cough while working my way through the Sundercliff underground.
I have become silenced by a goblin warlord's poisoned weapon.

Is it possible that there is some underlying cause for the ring not protecting my character or is it simply that the scripting on the ring is not functioning correctly? AncientNecro 16:48, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

See Resistances and Weaknesses for general information about how resistances work. The key point is that 100% resistance does not automatically mean immunity. If you have any active weaknesses (including weaknesses caused by enemy spells or poisons), they will counteract the resistance. --NepheleTalk 18:51, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
Right, so if I cleanse myself at an altar, acquire 100% Resist Magic, and then equip the Ring of Vitality, would there anything that could bypass any of the resistances at that point? AncientNecro 20:40, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
Not that I am aware of. A combination of 100% magic resistance and 100% poison resistance basically renders you immune to all methods of giving you a weakness to x effect. --Gaebrial 04:00, 19 May 2008 (EDT)

Gauntlet of the gladiator

Dungeons with greater amounts of random loot?

I know the loot is random, but are there certain dungeons which have a higher set amount of random loot available? Also, when is the loot randomized, upon entering the dungeon itself, or upon opening the chest? I only ask because normally I would get around 2-3 pieces per dungeon, maybe less; however during the 'Information Gathering' mission at Glendemist Cave I received 16(!) pieces of enchanted armour/clothing. My luck is 97, but it has been for some time now, and I must have covered maybe 40 or so dungeons previously, producing a standard amount of loot gavin19 18:25, 11 June 2008 (EDT)

Your luck doesn't appear to have any effect on the quality or quantity of loot you find. However, it is true that certain dungeons provide better loot than others. There are different types of 'loot chests', some of which are better than others; although you are unlikely to find more than one 'boss' chest (chests with the best loot - these are listed on the individual dungeon pages) per dungeon. The random nature of the contents of loot chests will sometimes lead to you finding better loot in some places than others - although you may go back to these places in a subsequent game and find the situation reversed. Oh, and the contents of a loot chest is determined when you first enter that 'zone', and will remain constant until that zone respawns. --Gaebrial 03:18, 12 June 2008 (EDT)


I'd like to propose adding semi-protection to this page. First, the edit history shows a regular stream of anonymous edits which have almost all been undone. The edits aren't vandalism, but the basically static, tabular nature of this page means that uninformed edits are almost always mistakes rather than fixes. Second, and more importantly, this page is large and awkward to edit. It generally take a couple of minutes for the server to process any edit to this page. Then, after the page has been updated, some hundred cached pages need to be replaced on the squid server -- as far as I can tell, the squid server has a separate cached page for each page that redirects here (Acrobat's Amulet, Amulet of Axes, etc., etc.), each of which becomes invalid when this page gets edited. So superfluous edits to this page are pretty costly. Any concerns or disagreements? --NepheleTalk 16:11, 16 July 2008 (EDT)

My concern is that we start to do this regularly and turn it from a wiki into a set of static pages. That said, I think you're right in this case. There's nothing that needs changing on this page and if the edits really are hurting the rest of the site, then it makes sense to protect it. Items that do not appear ingame

Wouldn't it just be easier to custom enchant the base item and name it accordingly if you can't find the item anywhere ingame? DaedryonTCE 04:13, 24 August 2008 (EDT)

Hypothetically, yes, but seeing as custom enchantments can only have 1 enchantment and can't have nearly as much power as a pre-made one, no, it wouldn't be easier. --MrSensiBob 17:54, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Armour Glitch

The Cuirass of Battle and the Mage Fighter's Greaves share this con. When dropped or "grabbed" out of the inventory, they become like they aren't there, but they are. When the crosshair is moved over them, no information appears about them. It's not really that major, but it could be. Like in Skingrad Recommendation, if you had those items and you dropped them in the well so you could take the Ring of Burden, you would lose them. I don't know if this applies to any other armours. It is a known bug. A wrong model for that version is selected, and that causes it to behave so oddly. The Mage Fighter's Greaves already had a note next to it, but the Cuirass of Battle not yet. Mankar Camoran's Robe Omission?

I stumbled here on a quest to determine the maximum amount of reflect damage that can be dealt by enchanted items. (The answer seems to be 40% using 2 rings, a robe and a shield.)

You can get Mankar's robe by looting his body before his paradise collapses. The robe is enchanted with 7% Reflect Damage and 10% Spell Absorption at a low level. I would edit the page but ignorance warrants caution.

1. I don't know the underlying item type's magic hexadecimal equivalent.

2. Editing seems to cause linkage problems elsewhere.

3. The possibility that the robe may not be considered "generic", in that there is no other possible instance of it.

Mankar Camoran's Robe is not generic magic apparel. As explained at the top of the article, the contents of this article are:
All of the randomly generated enchanted armor, clothing, and jewelry in the game
An item that is worn by a single person is not randomly generated and is not generic. In addition, Mankar's robe is a leveled item, whose statistics depend upon the level at which you find it. Therefore, it has its own dedicated article just to document all of the possible versions.
At this point, you should probably assume that every item in the game has been documented somewhere on the site. If you're having a hard time finding a specific item, try the suggestions at finding items, such as searching for the item using the wiki's search function. Or looking at nearly any related article (e.g., Mankar Camoran, Paradise) would have provided you with a link to the robe's article. --NepheleTalk 11:16, 21 November 2008 (EST)

Greaves of the Warmonger

I'm playing as a female Nord on the Xbox 360, and when I found the said greaves, although they had the icon and statistics of orcish greaves, they appeared on my character as chainmail. Has anyone else seen this happen? Draenoch 22:53, 13 January 2009 (EST)

Good point. It's a glitch specific to the female version of the greaves; on male characters, they will correctly appear as orcish greaves. All of the enchanted orcish greaves share this glitch. --NepheleTalk 00:59, 17 January 2009 (EST)

Waterbreathing notes

Mountaineer's Shield

I came here to see if there were any notes regarding a bug with this shield. Do Argonian and Khajiit characters lose their tails when they equip this? A quick look into the CS indicates that the shield takes up the tail slot as well as the shield slot, causing display anomalies and, in my case, the un-equipping of a tail-slot item. Base Ring of Aegis

The main article states that this ring is only available at level 1 as a reward from the quest More Unfinished Business (by way of inclusion in the note about Aegis rings.) The Base Ring is referenced in the same list (LL2LootJewelryMagic25) that allows all the other "Level 4" rings to be found at level 1 in monster-dungeon boss chests. Small matter, but it technically can be found randomly at level 1 (as I just did, to my surprise ^^). 05:03, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

That isn't what the note meant, but it was very unclear. I've tweaked the note to show that the lower levels only applied to the reward of that quest, but removed the implication that the ring can't be acquired through random loot (which it can). --Timenn-<talk> 13:00, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Where can i find a ring of night eye?

I am trying to have the strenght speed and powers of a werewolf. I made that my class. I can't find any of the rings. Can someone help me?

You could also easily enchant a ring at an enchanting altar. I believe it costs 2,000 gold? You could just use a petty soul gem. AepawovE 15:06, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Mundane Ring & Permanent enchant glitch

Hey all, I don't know if this has been noted by anyone, but it would seem that some items cannot be used in the permanent enchant glitch. I have made extensive use of this glitch with many items, bought found and created, but it just *will not* work with the Mundane Ring. :/— Unsigned comment by (talk) at 05:28 on 16 December 2009

Just a heads up if you guys didn't know, and if you did: are there other apparel this applies to?

I have no idea if there is more apparel to be found which share the same trait, but we generally don't document anomalies with glitches, so it's unlikely anyone will do any thorough research. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 19:37, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Waterbreathing Necklaces.

The article says that the Three Necklaces of the Sea are the same. they are of different value and weight, so there may be three so people who are roleplaying can wear a necklace suitable for there class. A lowerclass traveler wouldnt have a silver necklace, but would have a copper one. Likewise a nobleman would have the Jeweled necklace.

This is just a thought tho, it might be a mistake on the developers part. --Toungennose 05:01, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
