Two Gogans![edit]

As with a couple of other NPCs in the game, there are actually two Gogans in the Construction Set. We should probably include both sets of IDs in the article, but I'm not actually sure where to find all of that information. Could someone look into it? Thanks! –Eshetalk 12:59, 11 June 2009 (EDT)

Yep, the two versions are easily distinguishable by one parameter: the first version wears clothing, the second wears guard armor. The second version is the one enabled during the last part of the Siren's Deception and the one that stays inside the farm forever. We would include the change of equipment in the inventory section, without specifically referring to the version change (that can be put as a note). To find the BaseID of an NPC, simply enlarge the section between 'EditorID' and 'Count'. For the RefID you have to find a cell where they can be found, enlarge the section between 'EditorID' and 'Type', and you're good to go! --SerCenKing Talk 14:10, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Nice work, Serc! :D Anyway, here's, for inspiration, an example on anothert NPC, where the info is added as a note. Krusty 14:15, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Aha! I knew how to do that at some point, but I couldn't find his RefID for the life of me. The change in inventory has already been noted in the article but I thought the other data should be included in the table (like on Lucien Lachance's page). Thanks guys! –Eshetalk 14:21, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
No concerns there, go ahead! --SerCenKing Talk 15:03, 11 June 2009 (EDT)

Incorrect description[edit]

the arcticle says that he lost his family heirloom, which is incorrect. the "wedding ring" he lost is really a fake, as dropped by one of the female gang members when she mentions how when she tried to sell the ring it turned out to be worthless. I think the description needs to be changed. — Unsigned comment by 99.141.207.62 (talk) at 23:58 on 16 July 2009

This is acually true, the whole thing about Gogan getting seduced was to lure someone to help him. — Unsigned comment by 74.5.177.164 (talk) at 00:04 on 17 July 2009‎
Since I wrote the article (twice), let me point a few things out. I'm aware that the wedding ring is a fake - and I'll agree that it should be included on the page. As to what actually happened, I'm not so sure. If the whole thing about Gogan getting seduced is a lie to lure the player into helping them, then Gogan did quite an interesting undercover-job losing the fake ring in the first place. First, he met them at the bar. Then, still undercover, he showed up at the cabin and took off his clothing, got ripped off and had to walk half-naked back to town. Quite an effort in order to unveil the truth about the sirens. And after you have completed the quest, his goodbye greeting (only spoken) is: "Do me a favor. Don’t say anything to the other guards that I fell for it, okay? Thanks." That's what led me (and a few others) to believe that his undercover job had failed, and that he actually ended up falling for the scam. So; I'll agree about the wedding ring - but other than that, I feel the page is as close to the truth as we can get. Krusty 13:38, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Gogan and Maelona actually married?[edit]

It says on Gogan and Maelona's page that they are married, though I was under the impression that they were living as a married couple as part of the undercover operation. Obviously there's no way of finding out if they're actually married or not other than interpreting the dialogue but I wanted to know what you guys thought about it. HWx 16:23, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Off-hand, it looks like you're right. I don't see anything in their dialogue that would suggest that they're actually married beyond using it as a cover. Actually, the quest update states that it was only a cover: "It turns out that they have been undercover as a married couple for some time trying to put a stop to the gang." Robin Hoodtalk 19:19, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Ah OK. Do you think this should be changed in the article, as it says "Together with his wife, Gogan was working undercover", or is it really not that relevant? HWx 16:22, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
It's probably worth changing in some fashion, but I can't quite figure out a good way to word it. If you've got any inspired ideas, go nuts! Robin Hoodtalk 18:21, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
The whole introductory text of the article should probably be changed at some point; mostly because I'm not too sure if it is a correct description of what happened before the quest (see the "Incorrect Description" thread above this one), of Gogan and Maelona's plan or relationship, the plot of the quest - or anything else for that matter. If anybody have any theories, feel free to give it a shot, but read the above thread first. --Krusty 19:17, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Hey. I've had a go at rewording the introduction to Gogan's page but wanted to post it here first in case it needed to be reverted. This is pure text at the moment so none of the links are present:
Gogan is a Redguard Warrior living in the western corner of Anvil with Maelona. The pair are members of the Anvil City Watch posing as husband and wife as part of an undercover operation to catch the beautiful Faustina Cartia and the other sirens, who lure married men up to Gweden Farm and rob them blind. However, during the operation at The Flowing Bowl, Gogan was seduced for real and lured to the farm where he was robbed of his clothing and his wife's family heirloom (later revealed by the sirens to be a worthless ring). During the related quest you are asked to retrieve the heirloom to save Gogan's reputation and marriage.
I was also thinking that the bottom segment about Maelona not being too impressed with her "husband" could also be removed and would perhaps be more relevant on Maelona's page as it's said during the quest and regards her role of playing wife to Gogan rather than Gogan himself (unless we try and reword it). Regarding theories about the quest, I think that they were obviously posing as a married couple to attract the siren's attention (based on their MO, namely a married guy) and perhaps the worthless ring was to make him more attractive to them. I think he intended to go to The Flowing Bowl and get propositioned by them but obviously he didn't intend to actually get seduced and robbed. Then I think it falls on the player's hands a) in an second attempt to catch the sirens, and b) to save Gogan's shame of admitting all to the Anvil Watch (despite the fact that everyone else seems to know about it anyway). () That is a pretty good introduction, HWx, and it sounds like you have the same theory as me, at least when it comes to "Gogan being seduced despite being on a mission"-part. As for the husband and wife-thing, it is an odd one - why do they keep living together, even after the quest is completed? My personal theory is that they are, in fact, husband and wife - and both members of the Watch. Still, that is my theory and other may have a different take on it. Of course, Maelona's final statements on the page will have to be reworded, but I still think they belong on Gogan's page - as quest-specific rumors. But if no one objects, the intro is definitely good to go. --Krusty 20:03, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

That's interesting, I didn't consider they may have been married for real. I did wonder that because the Gogan that appears in Gweden farmhouse is actually a different version, whether perhaps he was supposed to be removed after the quest (hence indicating they were no longer living together, but that would have to mean that there would be a second Maelona, which to my knowledge (I play on the console) there isn't. Based on that, I'd agree that they are married, as I always wondered why they continued living together.
Thanks for the go ahead with the article, I'll sort that out now. :) HWx 20:13, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Different Facial Features[edit]

I Just Finished a experiment between the two Gogan NPC's, Using the console I put them both in Anvil, and Encumberd them to keep them in one place.

Gogan Civilian Has The Cropped Hair Style Gogan Guard Has the Small Afro Hair Style

Civilian Gogan Has the Average Redguard Skintone Gogan Guard has a Paler Skintone

Gongan Guard has a more Squard Jaw and Smaller Eyes, as well as paler lips

And Lastly Guard Gogan has a dark gray Hair Color where Civilian Gogan's is Black.

I hope this is Useful. Dunehelm (talk) 17:49, 19 August 2014 (EDT)
