Encumbrance[edit]

Going through NPC birthsigns I noticed Harrow's "Super Carry Ability". Which immediately made me wonder what would happen if you forced Harrow to carry so much equipment that he became frozen in place? It's obviously not something that would happen during normal gameplay, but if you used a bunch of feather/fortify strength spells/potions and loaded up on heavy equipment before showing up at Lake Arrius, you could dump more than 1600 pounds of stuff on Harrow. He should then be permanently stuck in the shrine antechamber. Would that then break the quest? Or just make it play out somewhat bizarrely? Any chance anybody has ever experimented with this? --NepheleTalk 01:25, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

I just tried using the console to give myself 100 rings of burden and 100 full suits of daedric armor, putting my encumbrance above 30,000. After Harrow took my stuff, he walked along like he was carrying nothing. I used getav encumbrance to check him, he capped out at 1,287 regardless of what I put on myself, even if I used player.removeallitems and just had the rings of burden.
Interestingly, when I killed and looted him, ALL of my items I had more than one of were each split into two stacks: one with one item, one with the rest. If it was a piece of armor/clothing, the single item had the female icon and the rest used the male icon (I was playing a female character). This could be some internal mechanism for preventing overencumbrance. If so, you might be able to bypass it and encumber him if you had enough different items to reach 1300+ weight, but I don't think it likely considering he was at exactly his limit regardless of what I was carrying when he took everything.
Hmmm... first a user sandbox, now spending your time investigating obscure game details... I think you have officially become wiki-addicted :) Welcome to the club! And thanks for satisfying my curiosity! --NepheleTalk 02:21, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

pack mule[edit]

Just a thought but can i kill harrow, revive him using the staff of worms, and use him as a pack mule to carry all my stuff(he must be able to leave the cave and still have the harrow birthsign). --Umbacano 01:01 , 6 March 2008 (EST)

Why not use someone like Glarthir instead? Harrow's body disappears (I think) and reanimated corpses don't have an emcumberance limit, so his birthsign would be no bonus. Legoless 14:59, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Harrow's body is a permanent one, but it doesn't really matter whose body you are trying to revive with the reason you provided, since they don't have an encumbrance limit. I'm not sure if the person who asked this question will ever read it, since the topic is over a year old. Wolok gro-Barok 15:38, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Harrow never takes my quest items that can't be dropped after doing said quest[edit]

Namely the Ring of the Vipereye. I'd do anything to permanently get rid of that thing, but I have the PS3 version and can't. Does Harrow only take quest items before you complete the quest you use them on?

As stated on the quest page, "Harrow will not take any quest items that you may have in your inventory." --NepheleTalk 19:52, 28 April 2008 (EDT)

Uber Harrow?[edit]

Wouldn't Harrow's permanent Fortify Strength make him nearly impossible to defeat? Or does he not ever use melee attacks? Or does the effect get taken away? — Unsigned comment by 207.200.116.201 (talk) on 25 January 2009

Nope. Strength over 100 doesn't affect damage so whilst he's powerful, he's not impossible. –RpehTCE 03:31, 25 January 2009 (EST)
Ah, sill me. I forgot.
