I haven't seen Honditar in ages. :( Where does he go when he's out of Chorrol, other than his shack? I never found his body, so I assume some wilderness creature got 'em, but I'm just curious where he wanders when he's out of the city. xoxo User:Coryl

Apart from Chorrol and his shack he will hang out in Fire and Steel if it's raining, but it sounds like he might be dead if you've not seen him in a long time. –RpehTCE 01:58, 3 March 2008 (EST)

Bad Shot[edit]

Is it worth noting that Honditar is a horrible shot with a bow? He goes out back of the fighters guild every morning to practice, but he never hits the target. I have watched him countless times and I have never seen him hit the target he is aiming at,... the arrow always flies high and over the target.

I suppose given that he goes around with a bow it might be worth a mention. The Construction Set reveals the reason - his Marksman skill is only 6! –RpehTCE 01:44, 4 March 2008 (EST)
He hunts in the morning. It took me three days to find that out. He leaves his cabin a little after 6 every morning, so if you're not up and out by his house early you can easily miss him. IWon'tFightUndead 21:05, 26 April 2008 (EDT)
More precisely, he practices between 6 and 10am each morning IF it's not raining. If the weather is inclement, he hangs around Fire and Steel instead. –RpehTCE 17:02, 27 April 2008 (EDT)
I notice that this target missing behaviour is something that has been fixed in another situation by the UOP (Forester missing the target left at the Inn of Ill Omen); is there maybe a case for a fix to be suggested for the next UOP version? Does the UOP have a suggestion box? :-P piphil 15:49, 17 December 2008 (EST)
Kivan is the principal author these days. I usually leave a note on his talk page if there's something that I've spotted. I think he's trying to wind down though. –RpehTCE 16:36, 17 December 2008 (EST)
To be fair, it's easy for me to say "how about you do this..." when I'm personally completely oblivious to how much work even a seemingly simple tweak might require. I'm guessing a "final" UOP may be in order at some point in the near future - I'm guessing people involved in the UOP are now working on fixes for Fallout 3... piphil 16:39, 17 December 2008 (EST)
Does marksman skill even determine accuracy for NPCs? — Unsigned comment by 76.179.191.245 (talk) on 17 December 2008
First, I'm not sure what Kivan had to do to fix the other problem but it's always worth pointing out a bug. If he doesn't want to fix it, he doesn't have to, after all. Second, I've marked the follow up question as a GQ. I'm going to do some testing on this unless somebody comes back with a quick answer. I think it's worth knowing - and noting on the Marksmanship page. –RpehTCE 17:11, 17 December 2008 (EST)
Ok, I've added an entry on Kivan's talk page re: the bug/exploit. The above question is a good one; I would personally imagine the answer is no, as for the player character the only effects of higher marksman skill appear to be range and damage done, along with the level perks. I'd guess in this case that the problem is caused by Honditar's aim being somewhat off in the code! piphil 08:32, 18 December 2008 (EST)
I upped Honditar's Marksman to 100 and he still shot over the target. Changing his agility to 100 didn't help either. This doesn't prove the point, however, although I suspect it's true. It might be that Marksman only affects accuracy during combat, for instance. –RpehTCE 08:57, 22 December 2008 (EST)
A really late reply here but the reason for this isn't necessarily obvious. The practice package sends him to an XMarkerHeading in Chorrol. The AI pack is set correctly. What was missing is the target data on the marker object. Without that, anyone using that marker as a target shoots blind. It has nothing to do with the marksmanship skill at all. Moved note[edit]

when doing the above glitch, make sure you have room to carry the amount. if you shoot even one of the arrows, the duplicated arrows will now weigh the usual amount. also, if you try and drop the full stack, another stack will appear. do not drop this new stack, or it will cause the game to crash (confirmed only on Xbox 360)

This needs verification from a second party. –Elliot talk 04:53, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Quest Link[edit]

Honditar has a link to A Shadow Over Hackdirt on his page, but he is not involved in the quest at all as far as I can see. He gives the player information regarding the Legion action, but that is not even put into the Journal. He is not mentioned anywhere on the Quest Page. Unless there are objections, I think it should be unlinked from here. --DKong27 Talk Cont 22:18, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
