Can't Attack Lich[edit]

im lvl 23 and cannot attack the lich i lvld in the caverns tho so could that be a problem? — Unsigned comment by 90.193.205.5 (talk) at 13:33 on 21 March 2008‎

if you came to the cavern before level 23 then the lich will be permanantly marked as a ghost and cannot be interracted with in any way, on the pc you can use the console to fix this, see the main article page for details. Volanaro 09:50, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

Incorrect chronology?[edit]

The article states that the order of the notes is that the pages in the side-passages come before Vangaril killed the Lich. However, if you read the notes, it suggests that he first slew Erandur, and botched the spell to banish his soul, and instead took it into his body (Folded Page 000624D3). Then comes the note about him trying to find his way out, while he slowly loses his mind due to Erandur's influence (crumpled piece of paper 000624D2). The next note is written by Erandur in Vangaril's own hand, chiding him, telling him that the fact his flesh is rotting around him is his own fault, and trying to order him to quit resisting his will (Crumpled Piece of Paper 000624D1). Next comes the letters written to the Mages Guild by Vangaril, as the last of his sanity and control over his own body crumbles (Letter(s) to the Guild of Mages 000624D4 000624DB 000624DC). The main reasons I think they are meant to chronologically occur in this order is details of the notes. The Folded Page states that he just killed Erandur, and is going to explore the cavern more, and thus most likely comes before crumpled piece of paper, as that states he is trying to find his way out, which he likely wouldn't do unless he's already slain Erandur. In addition, the Crumpled Piece of Paper doesn't make much sense unless Erandur wrote it while controling Vangaril, and was trying to break his will with it. The letters have to come last, though, as they indicate Vangaril has worked out exactly what's happening, and is writing to the Mage's Guild about his woe, and in the end indicate his full loss of control to Erandur.144.132.165.178 01:15, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Did Erandur even exist[edit]

I realize it's only an interpretation, but the second and third notes makes Vangaril sound insane, and the third specifically, which sounds like a ritual to finish making the transformation to a lich, is in his own name (at the end). Everything that is written about the mages guild not caring makes perfect sense if Erandur was a figment of Vangaril's imagination/psychosis. It also explains why they would kick him out for the necromancy "Erandur" did. Other random evidence: he's compelled to look at dark things to 'aid in fighting necromancers,' which sounds more like an excuse to study necromancy which he supposedly is against; Erandur 'infests his mind;' and he did not have the training to banish the lich despite, even though nothing special is needed in any way in-game to do such a thing. 135.19.190.12 17:43, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

This is speculation we can't make, unfortunately. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:05, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Unofficial Patch coverage?![edit]

There should be a comment on this page regarding the status of the bug in regards to UOP coverage or not. It's not fair to the reader to tell them they can ruin a quest and then not mention the elephant bug/patch compilation.
