Check for him in the basement. --Robert Smith 10:46, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

No services at all without Fighters Stronghold?[edit]

I just went ahead and tested the provided service times for Magra, and fact is, he does NOT offer any services between 8pm and 10pm in vanilla (GotY) OB. I did what the bug note said, I tried a few variations, but no services whatsoever. Since this has been addressed by the UOP, I'm worried that I'm doing something wrong - but how exactly do you get him to offer services? I would be grateful if someone else could pop in the vanilla version of the game and approach him between 8pm and 10pm, just to double-check if an additional bug was added in the GotY. Oh, and remember to turn off Fighters Stronghold, as it seems to be the one causing him to offer services at 8pm. --Krusty 10:25, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Just checked this with vanilla Oblivion. Nothing. I went in the store at 8:29 and walked around for a while and he didnt appear, unlocked the basement door and he came onto the shop floor with no service options. So im thinking that, like you, that his key is bugged and he wont come up without you unlocking the door. - Emoboy64 02:05, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Looking around in the day time (9am) with the basement door unlocked on my game atleast, he was going to the top of the first flight of stairs then walking to his bed in the basement repeatedly but if i stopped following he would not emerge from the basement untill i went in at which time he would leave to the shop floor and again only going back to the basement if i was upstairs. He had no services at all in the day for the whole 24h cycle. I think that his page should be updated to reflect what was discovered. - Emoboy64 02:15, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the testing, Emoboy!
For the record, I looked for both him and Borba on the UOP fix list and found out that Borba's key apparently doesn't work on the basement door, which basically means that Magra's key will be bugged as well. As for the missing services, it is an oddity as it appears that the entire page was written by someone with the Figthers Stronghold plug-in installed (even the UOP!), so before we chop the page to pieces, we better investigate this a bit more.
What I think should be thoroughly tested is his service times (I'm pretty sure he is another Hauls-Ropes-Faster), whether his key works or not without any mods, add-ons, plug-in's and what have we, and finally what triggers the weird "paranoid" behavior Emoboy64 experienced. I'll try and summon RobinHood70 and will add this one to the Problematic NPCs-page right now. --Krusty 07:19, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
He only offers services if Fighters Stronghold is installed. The note was added by some idiotic n00b who was probably testing with the plugin installed. It alters the aaaEat20x2 package, which Magra uses. rpeh •TCE 20:44, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Dammit, I should have checked the history - and noticed what you wrote on the tag. This basically means that he IS another Hauls-Ropes-Faster and that service times should be changed to "never". It also means the entire bugs section, including the UOPS tag, should be deleted as the UOPS basically changes his eating times for no reason at all, unless you have installed the plug-in. Gotcha. We can consider re-adding it when we get the Fighters Stronghold info up and running, but right now the page is painfully wrong. --Krusty 22:17, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Then again; we better add a bug description for his lack of services - otherwise, it is a bit awkward to include a full merchant list without further explanation. I'll leave it for now. --Krusty 22:24, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
From the UOMP Changelog: Undid change (offering services was enabled) to default AI packages aaaDefaultExploreEditorLoc768, aaaEat12x2, aaaEat20x2, aaaEat8x2 and aaaSleep0x6 used by many other NPC's and possibly in mods; created new AI packages with services enabled and replaced the modified defaults in Battlehorn NPC's that use them

That was corrected back in 2007 by the first UOMP file that dealt with Battlehorn. The changes to those AI packs was not intentional and only made Magra a functional merchant because he was erroneously set up as one in the vanilla game. The UOPS does not provide him with an offer services package, it only changed his eat package based on the bug report. Since the bug report is technically invalid, the UOPS change note would be too, but the change in the UOPS is harmless so it won't be taken out. Arthmoor 10:47, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. I've tweaked the page and removed any mention of the UOPS from the bug description, provided I read your answer correctly; the UOPS simply changes his eating time, but not the service time, meaning that installing the UOPS will simply make him eat at a different time? --Krusty 11:14, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Not sure if this is any help or not, but if Borba is killed Magra seems to come out of the basement and offer his services. I'd never been in the basement (didn't even know there was a basement) so he definitely got out on his own. 216.110.246.59 01:36, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
In theory, it should be the key that is unable to unlock the door to the basement, at least according to the UOP. Nevertheless, we don't have a mention on it anywhere, so it might qualify for further testing. Him getting out of the basement just might be one of the "things that happen" when the cell loads and resets; however, it would be nice to get to the bottom of this. --Krusty 12:09, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
