Training[edit]

From looking at the construction set, it seems that Malintus basically never offers any training except while the Arrow of Extrication quest is active. Can anyone confirm this? It seems odd that nobody has complained about him being unavailable for training if his schedule really is so limited. --Nephele 02:36, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Not that odd if you consider that the other three pre-master trainers of Security are all easier to find, or that Malintus is only a basic trainer, so people are more likely to either raise this skill by practice or find somebody else to train it. (Or just get the Skeleton Key, which makes training in this skill mostly unnecessary.) --TheRealLurlock Talk 09:21, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
I am not good with CS, but in my game, after I finished that quest, he has continued to offer training. --Mankar CamoranTCE 08:48, 20 November 2007 (EST)
OK, it looks like the condition is (stage>=10 and stage<20) or (stage>=39). So the stage>=39 condition obviously remains true even after the quest has been finished. Thanks for pointing that out! --NepheleTalk 01:34, 23 November 2007 (EST)
Due to the AI conditions/order, he not only offered training only during/after Arrow of Extrication, but would also stand in the same spot outside his house for the rest of the game. The UOP fixed this from June 2008 onwards. I'll edit the page appropriately. Kivan 15:03, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Just took a good, long look at this bug, and it is not phrased correctly as of now. In fact, we are way off. The article currently claims that he WILL offer training during the quest (when the Fox waits for you at stage 10) but truth is, he will exit conversation right away – even if you can see the training icon. Also, as soon as you talk to the Fox the first time, Malintus will return to his usual routine – but here it gets really complicated; as far as I can tell, he will actually offer training AFTER the quest if the right conditions are met, although his his schedule will still break. Tested this by talking to the Gray Fox (stage 40) with Malintus in the house with the Fox (meaning, it depends on your arrival time in Chorrol and/or if Malintus is outside). If you arrive in Chorrol at night, Malintus will be inside – after talking to the Fox, Malintus’ sleep package will break, but he WILL offer training from outside his house. This means, that if you manage to keep Malintus inside his house when you talk to the Fox. you’ll have a trainer on your hands for the rest of the game. This makes the new edit partly untrue (and, as a slightly related note, the 6th bug here a nonsensical mess since the Independent Thievery quest will update regardless of what you do), but to test this further I need some CS help. Firstly, can someone write a quick, unbugged schedule? Second, I need to know the exact times he was supposed to offer training. Please help – this needs to be fixed. Thanks. --Krusty 19:01, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
