What Race do You Think Nerastarel is?[edit]

Does anybody know? It sounds like an Altmer or Bosmer to me. The reason I want to know is becasue I want to create him.Bambobo 04:55, 26 January 2008 (EST)

I would personally think he would be Altmer. - Anonymous — Unsigned comment by 98.214.41.209 (talk) at 16:07 on 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't know, you don't think he could be Bosmer? — Unsigned comment by 24.110.239.150 (talk) at 18:12 on 4 July 2008 (GMT)

Image[edit]

A picture of the inside of this house would be nice. — Unsigned comment by 152.23.196.129 (talk) at 02:49 on 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Hidden Jewelery Box[edit]

The only point of note is a hidden jewelery box located on the top floor. It is located above the doorway, hidden in much the same manner as the note in Rosethorn Hall. It is protected by a leveled lock and contains random jewelry and a random piece of magical loot.

I have been to this house on several different games on the 360, and not once have I gotten any magical loot. It's always just a plain piece of jewelery and that's all gavin19 15:15, 9 June 2008 (EDT)

Okay I've clarified the list of contents. Since there is only a 10% chance of getting a piece of magical loot, I'm not surprised you haven't seen one. –RpehTCE 15:36, 9 June 2008 (EDT)
I don't think the jewlery in the box is leveled, I was level 34 and all I found was a brass ring. — Unsigned comment by Razbo (talkcontribs) on 31 August 2008
Many leveled lists (including this one) don't guarantee the best item for a given level. In other words, although you can't get an Ebony Diamond Ring until level 20 (or whatever), you can get a brass ring at any level. You just got unlikely. –RpehTCE 01:51, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

Notice![edit]

Due to my ever growing interest in this, I've decided to make a mod. Nerastarel will be a Altmer Necromancer, and he'll be dead - it will be very minor, but I feel it needs closure of some sort. -yours Truly, k3nn3h. — Unsigned comment by 74.170.119.153 (talk) at 17:40 on 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Nerastarel[edit]

Nerastarel sounds more like a Dunmer Ashlander name.

Doesn't it? In Morrowind, the Dunmer names are very alike. — Unsigned comment by 85.139.13.251 (talk) at 22:51 on 12 November 2008 (UTC)

I have seen Nerastarel[edit]

Believe or not, but I have seen Nerastarel. He was either altmer or bosmer, I dont remember witch one. It's trange, I have seen him only once, I was walking in Skingrad when I noticed guards running over town with their weapons drawed. I followed them, and I saw them attacking elf in blue outfit behind Nerastarel's house. Once he died I went there looking him and that guy's name WAS Nerastarel. — Unsigned comment by 85.23.216.101 (talk) on 20 January 2009

If you saw anybody called Nerastarel he or she came from a mod; there's certainly no NPC with that name in the standard game. –RpehTCE 14:31, 20 January 2009 (EST)
I tought so first too, but any of those mods that i had when i saw him, DON'T add nerastarel. I checked from construction set and there still wasn't npc called nerastarel. — Unsigned comment by 85.23.233.121 (talk) on 21 January 2009
I'll say it again: there is nobody in the unmodded game called Nerestarel. It must have come from a mod. –RpehTCE 12:02, 21 January 2009 (EST)
I have seen the guy too. In fact, He has a quest chain. He approached me and started talking to me about selling his house. When you agree you get the house and he seems in a hurry to go away. When you find the house populated by monsters you can speak to some people at the castle asking where nerastarel went. You will find him again in Imperial city, Where he finally agrees to come with you to the house. You can meet him again in Skingrad after doing this, And you both enter the house. In the Cellar you will be able to find something (Cant remember what exactly anymore) however you need nerastarel for his blood so he has to be there too. When he does his thing there after you have guided him there alive the house will cleanse itself. The monsters are gone and you have a brand new house. — Unsigned comment by 83.128.34.55 (talk) at 07:18 on 16 July 2009 (UTC)
You're getting confused with Velwyn Benirus, Benirus Manor in Anvil, and the Where Spirits Have Lease quest. If you did see Nerastarel, he or she must have been added by a mod. –rpehTCE 07:24, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

() Either that, or you may have renamed an NPC to call him "Nerastarel" and just forgot. 24.233.128.66 13:51, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Morrowind Reference[edit]

This house seems to poke fun at the home in Ald-Ruhn in Morrowind filled with undead corprus victims. Worth mentioning perhaps? 74.5.177.164 01:34, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

No, it is a vague similarity at best. –Elliot(T-C) 01:44, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
That's a haunted house! 213.107.186.105 16:15, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Nerastarel is an alchemist/mage.[edit]

This subject also got me kinda of interested and i searched through his house and found some quite intersting things. If you look throughout he has quite a few alchemy ingreidents and a couple of alchemy tools as well such as Retorts, Mortar and pestle, A Clainator, and an Alembic. Also he has a book of Alchemy. Also i found a book of spell craft which adds on to him maybe being a necromancer. — Unsigned comment by 69.179.245.191 (talk) at 03:11 on 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Male?[edit]

Is it really safe to assume Nerastarel is a Male? It seems more likely to be a female name rather than a male name to me. 74.5.177.164 04:53, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if the gender is mentioned in the game, and if it is, then there is no debate. However, if it isn't mentioned, then the masculine form is used because of the English rule for no specific genders. --Elliot(T-C) 05:44, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

New occupants[edit]

Do the undead in this house respawn, or do they permanently die once you've killed them? Just asking only because it might mean a good source of things like bonemeal, mort flesh etc, but also if they don't respawn it might make a good house, so long as you ignore the music on the ground floor. 81.104.163.95 16:13, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, they all respawn given time. rpeh •TCE 17:38, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Random arrow floating in the air on the top floor[edit]

Did anyone else notice this? There is a floating arrow on the top floor of Nerasterel's house. It cannot be picked up and cannot be taken down by spells or weapons. It eventually disappears after an amount of time. Anyone else see this? Yoblivio 17:03, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

That sounds like a problem specific to your game. There are no arrows in that house (checked in CS). rpeh •TCE 13:34, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
I've seen it as well, i thing it was a steel arrow, or maybe iron. Mods used: Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplemental. --Anonymous — Unsigned comment by 79.212.113.106 (talk) at 18:23 on 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Asking the Podcast[edit]

I asked about Nerastarel's House on the Bethesda Podcast thread on the Bethesda forums. Maybe you should all ask too. If enough people ask, perhaps Todd'll fill us in. It could give way to semi-canonical mod productions and a lot more information to put in this entry. Hopefully this discussion page is sort of active. -capitalsown — Unsigned comment by 71.191.84.33 (talk) at 17:47 on 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Ownership[edit]

How does ownership work? Is it easy to check it out in the CS? I ask because I am wondering who owns all the stuff in the house. Touching or taking anything is considered stealing and it is trespassing to be in the house and you can't sleep in the bed. So who is listed as owning the place and the objects inside? Cas (talk) 02:25, 23 October 2012 (GMT)

According to the CS, the house is owned by the Generic Owner faction (0x000534f2) who's only members are test NPCs named Bruce. Or, at least that's what I can make of it.--Skyrimplayer (talk) 02:28, 23 October 2012 (GMT)

Girl Dunmer?[edit]

well I used to own the ps3 version of oblivion and while doing the thieves guild mission in skingrad I see a female dunmer standing in the backyard and when I talk to her she asks me an awkward question about the punishments for necrophilia in cyradil and I'm curious whether the house belongs to her or not (you know zombies in the house) unfortunately I sold the game a couple years ago and cant confirm it so if someone can figure it out that would be great thx. — Unsigned comment by 173.30.187.38 (talk) at 11:56 on 23 November 2012‎

That's Falanu Hlaalu. Nerastarel does not appear in game (or anywhere else for that matter!). Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 19:01, 23 November 2012 (GMT)
