Add Spoiler Disclaimer?[edit]

Does anyone else think "Both Marz and Ohtesse are always killed during the Knights of the Nine quest line" is too much of a spoiler to appear without a disclaimer prominently and closely preceding it? — Unsigned comment by Brian Sexton (talkcontribs)

The standard to response to this sort of question has always been "But the whole site's a spoiler!" We haven't put warnings on much bigger spoilers (the A Stranger page has one of the biggest) so personally I wouldn't put one here. --RpehTalk 04:39, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
But should the whole site be thus? Players are urged to use the console only minimally—for bug-fixes and such—to preserve the fun of the game, so it seems reasonable to tag significant spoilers in that same spirit of preservation of fun (e.g., not withholding basic details about a character from a character page, but certainly that a character is killed when a particular part of the game's story unfolds). Perhaps this would be a good ongoing project; we could start by considering everything potential spoilers then work through articles moving spoilers to alternate pages. Please see the Ultronomicon at http://uqm.stack.nl/wiki/ for a good example of how another game wiki handles spoilers. Brian Sexton 05:34, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
You're better off starting debates like this on the Community Portal. There has already been some discussion (that's now archived and should not be edited) here and here, and the general consensus has been to post whatever is needed. --RpehTCE 11:55, 25 October 2007 (EDT)

Reviving Marz[edit]

Moved here from main article:

If you have already completed The Sword of the Crusader quest, uninstalling Knights of the Nine, redownloading it, and restarting the questline will revive Marz, allowing you to get the reference needed for master training. — Unsigned comment by 71.140.117.72 (talk)

I don't see how uninstalling the mod will cause Marz to be revived. If your save file says that he is dead, for whatever reason, then he's dead. Because he exists in the vanilla version of the game, removing a mod that merely runs some scripts on his character is not going to alter his character; the scripts don't get "undone" just because the mod is no longer there. Can anyone confirm that this really works and, if so, whether it works reliably (i.e., no matter what Marz' fate was, whether he was killed or disabled or whatever)? --NepheleTalk 03:36, 10 November 2007 (EST)

Bug?[edit]

There is a small bug, however. Before you enter the castle, she may appear and help you fight the imps. — Unsigned comment by 217.43.135.179 (talk)

I've never seen this happen, which implies that it's not something that automatically occurs and therefore I think a more detailed explanation of what causes it is necessary before it's added to the article. Furthermore, there are never any imps inside Kvatch, so the note also needs to be revised to either explain more clearly where this behaviour occurs or to properly identify the enemies. --NepheleTalk 13:34, 13 February 2008 (EST)

I think scamps are meant instead of imps. But I've got the PS3 version and Oleta has appeared twice (out of the three times I've played the quest) with Matius and the other gaurds right after I open the gate to the castle. She never appeared not once in the 100+ times I played the quest with my Xbox 360 version. — Unsigned comment by 208.100.228.143 (talk)

I play the 360 version, and she's appeared there quite a few times, but just walks back to camp when they are all dead. Though sometimes i saw her inside the castle.

i play on ps3 game of the year and she appears every time i do this quest

This just happened to me on the Xbox 360 version. I do not believe anything "triggers" this, but it is randomly placed.

The battle for castle Kvatch is also a requirement[edit]

I believe she wants both Breaking the Siege of Kvatch and the Battle for Castle Kvatch done before she teaches you. — Unsigned comment by 200.121.172.252 (talk)

Thanks. In fact I just checked and it's the only requirement. I'll update the article. –RpehTCE 01:48, 27 June 2008 (EDT)

No training offered[edit]

moved from main article --GuildKnightTalk2me 23:11, 16 November 2008 (EST)

I've completed the quest and gone to talk to her in the Kavatch camp south of the city, and she does not offer training — Unsigned comment by 75.70.30.212 (talk) on 16 November 2008

Probably because you have not been given the necessary master training reference. See the overview of master training. --NepheleTalk 21:53, 21 November 2008 (EST)

Following Tierra bug[edit]

When I save the refugees in the chapel and they follow Tierra back to the camp, I've encountered a glitch that causes Oleta to keep following Tierra into the battle outside of the Kvatch castle. After this, however, she returns to the camp. Should this be added to the bugs section? Because I've seen it 4 times. Thanks!--Arch-Mage Matt 23:07, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

I've not been able to reproduce, but anyone seeing this bug could verify it easily. If they see Oleta following Tierra back from the camp, use the console and type: getstagedone 95 This should come back as a 1, if not, then something isn't allowing Tierra's package to complete properly and in theory other NPCs should also be following her back. Arthmoor 08:56, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Looking at the scripting, I can maybe see this happening if Savlian Matius is unconscious, for example, though it doesn't really seem like it should. But what confuses me about this is that the other followers all use the same AI package, so if one follows Tierra, theoretically, they all should.
AMM: Do you have a saved game where this occurs that you can send me? Or are you on a gaming console? Robin Hoodtalk 18:22, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Then I only had it for XBox, but I can see if it would happen again on the PC (Or try again on the XBox). It really is strange because I checked the CS myself, and nothing I saw seems out of place. But all I know is I have seen Oleta appear near the outside of the castle, but she nevers goes inside. --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 18:31, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
It would be really useful if you could reproduce it on the PC with a save just before they reach the camp (I'll try as well), but even if you can only reproduce it on the XBox, that might give some insight. In particular, if you can document exactly what you do and what Tierra, Oleta, and the other followers do from just before they start back to Kvatch to the point where Oleta enters combat, that would go a long way to figuring out what causes it. It may be that you're doing something perfectly reasonable that most other people just don't do for whatever reason (e.g., following them closely vs. fast travelling, talking to someone at the wrong time, etc.) or some silly thing, like if Oleta doesn't get close enough to Tierra until they enter combat or something like that. Robin Hoodtalk 18:48, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
I wasn't able to reproduce the exact behaviour described, but I can at least confirm that it's likely. There seems to be some kind low-level engine bug, probably caused by either the "Must Reach Location" or "Must Complete" flags (what else is new?), where when everybody returns to camp, Tierra gets stuck in a strange half-complete state in her Escort package and when she turns to look at Oleta, she starts rapid-cycling with the specific action she's going to take. Oleta, in turn, starts rapid-cycling between a Wander and Follow package. Based on the AI, this should be utterly impossible (Stage 95 is done, so that should take priority), but it's happening nevertheless.
It wasn't clear to me exactly when the change occurred, but at some point when I was distant enough from them, they "settled" on what they were going to do, and Oleta sometimes randomly ended up in a Follow package. Given how low-level the issue obviously is, it would be entirely possible for this to manifest only on one version and not on another. Nevertheless, it might also affect all of them, so I'd be curious to know if anybody can reproduce the bug on a PC. I haven't tried, but I suspect not following Tierra back to the camp might cause a difference in behaviour as well. Robin Hoodtalk 20:09, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

I have completed both the quests but I can't train with her. All she says is greetings traveler even though I finished the quests... Anyone else know about this?
