Template[edit]

This is a rough version, but it shows what I want to accomplish. I would like to create a template for NPCs that ends up looking somewhat like this. If anyone could give me a few pointers on how to accomplish this, it would be greatly appreciated. --GuildKnight 23:55, 6 March 2007 (EST)

I decided to try a different take on it, and put my version in one of my sandboxes. I think trying to put the information into a box at the right side of the page is more consistent in layout with what's been done on most other pages. Feel free to modify my sandbox if you'd like to experiment with the concept. I'd be happy to put whatever layout you'd like to use into a template, and help modify it as needed (because I'm guessing that you'll run into various permutations once you start trying to implement it widely). --Nephele 00:45, 7 March 2007 (EST)
Also, for the sake of completeness I thought I'd point out some other random related thoughts:
Although I think trying to think everything through ahead of time on the NPC pages is likely to just be paralyzing... it's probably best to start with a basic idea, start implementing, and then adapt as needed down the road. --Nephele 00:57, 7 March 2007 (EST)
Hello. I really don't like this lay-out, I'm sorry. Especially not the space between te lines in 'general information' (home city, race, gender etc.). Maybe it looks better if that specific info gets it's own 'box' or something. Anyway, the way it is right now just doesn't look nice in my eyes. Saskia 07:52, 7 March 2007 (EST)
Nephele: I love the layout in the sandbox. I didn't know how to create that box on the side. Do we need a consensus to start using a template on the NPC pages? It will be much easier to change things that we determine need to be changed when it's all in a uniform template.
Saskia: Yeah, I didn't like the layout of it either, I was simply trying to include all information so that I could try to create a template. --GuildKnight 09:42, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I've fiddled a bit more with my sandbox, and then in my usual obsessive way (and in complete disregard to my own advice earlier in this discussion), thought of a handful of other statistics that might be of interest. So I started a more general discussion at Oblivion Talk:People#NPC Pages. While I don't think a consensus is truly necessary to start implementing a new template, I think it is worth spending an extra day or so making sure that we're not overlooking some information that should be included in the template. But in any case, I'll probably start playing with converting my sandbox layout into a template this evening... I'm sure it's going to take more than a couple tries to get it right ;) --Nephele 17:56, 7 March 2007 (EST)
This template looks pretty cool: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/User:TheRealLurlock/Sandbox_III and I can't think of any information that should be added. Well, maybe if the NPC carries something of value you could pickpocket, but otherwise not. Saskia 18:30, 7 March 2007 (EST)
