Summitmist Manor Improvements[edit]

I used to teach computer science (AP and IB) to high school students. Their final project proposals were sometimes things like "Write a chess playing program." OK.... It's nice to be ambitious but you only have three months, lets try to narrow down to something that requires less than 10 man years of labor. And we would have a conversation. My gut feeling is that many of the "rewrite" activities on this wiki are of a similar ilk. However in comparing Summitmist Manor with Rosethorn Hall I was struck by the difference between them. So ignoring by own advice and waiting until after I had done the pertinent quest (big mistake) here is my proposal for the first zone where <IVC> stands for insert visible content:

Summitmist Manor[edit]

The main entrance of Summitmist Manor is architecturally complex. Facing north are two open 12-step stair cases leading east and west up to overlook-balconies which are linked by a second story dining area. Immediately to the left and right are wide 5 step stairs leading down to sunken living areas. Turning to the west (your left) and descending is the library. On its south wall there is a desk and chair with a chest to its right. <IVC> In the southwest corner is a small round table and a triple wooden bench seat. <IVC> On the west wall is a three part book case with each part having four shelves. <IVC> Each part is capped by an arched opening. The center part holds two burning candles on its second shelf. In the northwest corner there is a single wooden chair. In the northeast corner is the door to the Summitmist Basement.

Moving west back up the 5 steps, across the entry way level and descending again into a sunken living area there is a fireplace on the north wall faced by another triple wooden bench seat. The east wall has an identical three part book case mirroring the library area, but it lacks the candles. <IVC> On the south wall is a round table with two chairs.

Leaving the lower floor of Summermist Manor by way of the western stair case, the overlook landing has a burning fireplace on its north wall. To the right of the fireplace is another triple wooden bench seat, a small round side table and a single chair. To the left is a small round side table and single chair. The west wall has a set of drawers and to the south is the balustrade for the overlook. Turning east we see the dining area with a large round table and six chairs. <IVC> The southern wall of the dining area has windows flanked by four-shelf display cabinets and to the left of the windows, a single cupboard. The eastern overlook landing has a cupboard in the southeast corner against the balustrade. On the east wall there is a chair and a set of drawers topped by a four-shelf book case. The north wall is bare but to the west is the stair case up to Summitmist Living Quarters.

So now the question - should something with <IVC> gaps be put up on the site awaiting ruthless editing for an essentially out of date game, or should the proposer place it in the discussion page awaiting some angel to fix it? Kalevala (talk) 07:15, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Hey, my first piece of advice is always "be bold and edit". If you're improving on nothing with something, basically everyone will be hard pressed to disagree with your content having a place there. However, if you're interested in the specifics to edit this to the highest standard we have, I would read the guidelines on Oblivion Houses Redesign Project. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:43, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
