Dialogue[edit]

Proving the Deed[edit]

Countess Hakruba can be found with the rest of the Fighters Guild council, waiting for evidence linking to Jofnir's killer.

"Peace be upon you, comrade. Good to see you at my little meeting."
Your meeting?
"Yes, comrade. My meeting. I am the Countess Hakruba, daughter of Tigonus, flower of the sands, and Province General of High Rock.
This meeting was called at my request, as I have the honor of leading the council."
The Guildmaster doesn't lead the council?
"The Guildmaster sets the goals of the guild as a whole. The council interprets her wishes at the province level.
As head of the council I resolve disputes, and ensure we are working hand-in-gauntlet with the Guildmaster."

While you're investigating Jofnir's Quarters, she will either say:

"Good luck with your search."
"Find the killer and we'll bring them to justice."
"The Fighters Guild will make an example of whoever it was that did this."
"From what Merric tells us, Aelif will guide you true."

After returning from Ragnthar with evidence implicating Sees-All-Colors as Jofnir's murderer:

"The Divines be praised for your safe return."

Once Merric has been told the news:

"This is not good news."

Will of the Council[edit]

After the final battle in Coldharbour, and the destruction of the Mortuum Vivicus, you are brought back to the Earth Forge to report to Hakruba.

"Comrade! It is good to speak with you again."
And you, countess.
"Bera told us of Aelif's plans to hunt Sees-All-Colors. I see that Merric and the spirit of Jofnir Iceblade accompany you. Tell us, for all and the eight to hear. What happened?"
If Sees-All-Colors was spared:
If Sees-All-Colors was executed:
Merric, Aelif and I traveled to Oblivion tracking Sees-All-Colors.
"Carrying out our sentence, punishment for her foul deed. And yet I notice that she still stands, hale and whole. Why is this?"
She confessed to the crime, but she convinced me her cause was just.
"Truly? Just? The murder of a brave and fair-handed leader was just? What words did she weave to convince you of this?"
She is a priestess of Meridia. She sought only the destruction of the Mortuum Vivicus.
"I see. I know Meridia as an enemy of death across Tamriel. A light in the darkness. But still ….
Very well, we will deal with her in a moment. Where is the Khajiit, Aelif?"
She tried to kill us. She was a follower of Molag Bal. I slew her and destroyed the Vivicus.
"Yet more betrayal! I've known for years that her tongue was forked. But the Lord of Lies!
You have cleansed an evil corruption from the guild, comrade. We owe you a debt of gratitude."
What about Merric? He was innocent in all this.
"You do not need to worry about Merric. We have already reached our decision about him. However, Sees-All-Colors …. Comrade, normally we would never allow a Daedric worshiper to remain close to the guild leadership. But these are desperate times."
[Sees-All-Colors Stays] She did what she felt she had to. Let her serve the Guild.
"It brings me some unease to admit, but I think you're right. And I believe I know just what service she can offer. If you will, comrade, attend me at my side. We have some matters to discuss."
[Sees-All-Colors Leaves] You're right, we can't allow a Daedric worshiper so close to the council.
"You're right, comrade. She murdered an innocent man. For that, she should be punished. If you will, comrade, attend me at my side. We have some matters to discuss."
As you say, Countess.
Merric, Aelif and I traveled to Oblivion tracking Sees-All-Colors.
"Carrying out our sentence, punishment for her foul deed. She is not here … her sentence was carried out, then?"
Yes. We killed her, as the council ordered.
"Indeed. Where is the Khajiit, Aelif?"
She tried to kill us. She was a follower of Molag Baal.
We have already reached our decision about guild member at-Aswala."
As you say, Countess.

After speaking with Countess, you can witness the council's judgement. If Sees-All-Colors survived they will deal with her first, your opinion will decide her fate:

If you decided that Sees-All-Colors should stay with the guild
Countess Hakruba: "Sees-All-Colors. Present yourself to the council."
Countess Hakruba: "The council has decided we will honor the contract to fight the Daedra. Meridia continues to provide coin through her worldly servants. But we cannot allow a murderer to remain Guildmaster."
Sees-All-Colors: "I understand."
Countess Hakruba: "We have decided to award you a new title. The Light of the Guild. You will advise the new Guildmaster in all matters relating to the Daedra for the rest of your days. Penance for the blood on your hands."
Sees-All-Colors: "Thank you, Countess. I will not let you down."
Countess Hakruba: "You are dismissed. Merric, present yourself to the council."
<Merric steps forward>
If you decided that Sees-All-Colors should be expelled from the guild
Countess Hakruba: "Sees-All-Colors. Present yourself to the council."
Countess Hakruba: "The council has decided we will honor the contract to fight the Daedra. Meridia continues to provide coin through her worldly servants. But we cannot allow a murderer to remain Guildmaster."
Sees-All-Colors: "I understand."
Countess Hakruba: "Furthermore, the coucil has decided to expel you from the Fighters Guild. We will report you to the proper authorities for the murder of Jofnir Iceblade. You are dismissed."
Sees-All-Colors: "Yes, countess. I understand."
Countess Hakruba: "You are dismissed. Merric, present yourself to the council."
<Merric steps forward>

The council will then announce the new guildmaster:

Countess Hakruba: "Merric at-Aswala. In light of your service to the guild. In light of your sound judgement and brave heart, we cannot think of anyone more appropriate than you. You, Merric, are to be the new Guildmaster of the Fighters Guild."
General Flaminius Auctor: "It will be your responsibility to oversee completion of the contract established by Sees-All-Colors."
Svalkmar the Crude: "Remain vigilant against the forces of Molag Bal."
Ra'zaym Iron-Ear: "The Guild is a shield, a bastion for the people of Tamriel. Wear it well."
Borogilmith: "You've been quiet, Merric. What do you have to say about all this?"
Merric at-Aswala: "I … Thank you, council members. I accept this position with honor and grace. I swear to my ancestors, I will not let you down."
Countess Hakruba: "Now, Guildmaster, please see our friend out. We have much to discuss, and little time in which to plan. Comrade! We wish you well in your travels, and look forward to our next encounter."
Merric at-Aswala: "Come, comrade. You can't do much good hiding in this forge. Let's get you back into the fight!"

Messages Across Tamriel[edit]

She appears in the guild hall with Vanus after you convince the last Alliance leader. If you speak to her, she says:

"They're waiting on you. Good luck. You're going to need it."

The Weight of Three Crowns[edit]

Before heading to Stirk, Countess Hakruba can be found beside Vanus Galerion. If you speak to her before addressing Vanus, she will say:

"Well met. The Fighters Guild will handle security for the summit on Stirk. As a neutral party, we were the logical choice."

After speaking to Vanus, Countess Hakruba will address Vanus:

Countess Hakruba: "The word has been given."
Vanus Galerion: "A moment, please."
<Vanus opens the portal and speaks to you as he enters.>
Vanus Galerion: "I'll wait for you on the other side."
<The Countess does likewise.>
Countess Hakruba: "Our representative, Captain Alphaury, is in charge of security on Stirk. He assures us that all is well there, but keep your wits about you. Good luck."

Once on Stirk, she will be waiting on the dock and will direct you to Vanus first.

"I'm just here as security. You should talk to the great mage, Vanus Galerion."

Once you have spoken with Vanus, he and the Hakruba will become your followers as you walk past the guild camps to the meeting place. If she is spoken with she will say:

"The summit is just ahead. The leaders should be arriving any moment."

When you reach the Fighters Guild Camp and the man in charge of security, Captain Alphaury, Countess Hakruba will ask for a status report.

Vanus Galerion: "The captain is in charge of security, Alphaury, is over there."
Countess Hakruba: "Captain Alphaury. Has the island been secured?"
Captain Alphaury: "Aye. All ships have been diverted away from the island, and the wards are in place."
Countess Hakruba: "And the alliance leaders?"
Captain Alphaury: "They'll be here any moment. You three should get over there as soon as you can."
Countess Hakruba: "We're on our way. Thank you, Captain."
<Countess Hakruba walks away.>
Countess Hakruba: "We must make haste."

If you speak to her during the summit, she says:

"These three will never reach an agreement. I swear, the head that wears the crown always seems to swell like an overripe melon."

After the start and rapid breakdown of talks between the leaders, Countess Hakruba will be angered by their behavior and chains that currently constrain the Guild from invading Coldharbour.

"Intractable fools. Their pride will see us all dead."
Is the Fighters Guild any different?
"We've served as the first line of defense against Molag Bal's invaders, destroying his Dark Anchors all across Tamriel. They've succeeded in reducing their ranks and leveling half of Cyrodiil. What do you think?"
Would the Fighters Guild be willing to invade Coldharbour?
"Willing and able. But, like the Mages Guild, we are constrained by a non-interference pact.
The alliances will only tolerate our presence in their realms if we remain neutral. Unless all three alliance leaders consent to it, our hands are bound."

Once you have discussed your idea to allow the Guilds to fight in the stead of the Alliances with Vanus, she will demand you make them understand what is at stake:

"Speak to them. Make them see reason!"'

After you have spoken with the leaders, she will want to know if you succeeded:

"So? Did you convince them? Oh, don't tell me! Talk to Vanus!"

An Unwelcome Guest[edit]

When you have finished speaking with Vanus, the situation will take a turn for the worse.

Caldien: "He … he has arrived! I can't …"
<Caldien crouches down in pain and Vanus runs up to them.>
Vanus Galerion: "Caldien! What's happening?"
Caldien: "Go! Get away from me! Run!"
"—Who said the Guilds can't work together?"

Caldien's body begins to hovers off the ground, restrained by magic. And then a flash of light blinds you temporarily. As your vision clears, a familiar voice will begin to speak.

Molag Bal: "These are the great leaders of Tamriel? Pathetic. But how convenient to have them gathered together in one place, so I can crush them like insects."
<Countess Hakruba rushes at the projection of the Daedric Prince.>
Countess Hakruba: "Molag Bal!"
Vanus Galerion: "Stay back, Countess!"
Molag Bal: "The insects fight back! How amusing, and yet so very sad"
<The projection of Molag Bal dissipates as he summons three powerful Daedric minions to assassinate the alliance leaders.>
Molag Bal: "All of Nirn shall be mine!"
Vanus Galerion: "Caldien!"

Molag Bal's projection disappears and Caldien falls to the ground dead. The Countess and Archmage quickly rally.

Countess Hakruba: "Protect the leaders! Defeat Molag Bal's minions and close the unstable rifts!"
Vanus Galerion: "I'll do what I can to keep any more rifts from opening, defend me!"
Countess Hakruba: "My pleasure, Vanus. Who said the Guilds can't work together?"

If you try to speak to her before closing the rifts, she'll only say:

"We'll hold them off! Close the rifts! Go!"

Once the leaders have been defended and the Daedric rifts destroyed you can return to Countess Hakruba and Vanus Galerion. If spoken to, she will remark that the attack caught them off guard.

"We were so worried about the alliance leaders fighting among themselves, we never saw this coming."

Convincing the Leaders[edit]

After speaking Vanus, he and Countess Hakruba will press the leaders to give their Guilds permission to fight.

Vanus Galerion: "Honored leaders! You have seen the face of our enemy!"
Vanus Galerion: "Molag Bal threatens every living being in Tamriel! The Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild have agreed to join forces to launch an assault on Coldharbour!"
Countess Hakruba: "Trust in us! Sanction our actions! Give us your blessings! We will not let you down!"
High King Emeric: "Vanus is right. The Guilds are our best and only choice. Send them to Coldharbour!"
Jorunn the Skald-King: "I hate to admit it, but I agree with Emeric."

Despite the leaders' agreement, the Countess will not let them blame the war solely on Daedric manipulations.

Queen Ayrenn: "As do I. It appears that much of the distrust between out alliances was sown and nurtured by the God of Schemes."
Countess Hakruba: "Molag Bal thrives on deception and chaos, but if you'll forgive me, this Alliance War is of your own making."
Vanus Galerion: "Countess Hakruba. Gather the surviving members of both Guilds in the Stirk Interior. The champion and I will go there new to open the portal."
Countess Hakruba: "We'll be right behind you, Vanus."
<Vanus and Hakruba begins to head towards the valley.>
Vanus Galerion: "The time has come, Champion."
Countess Hakruba: "Let's go!"

Within the Portal Valley, she will be waiting beside the structure where the portal to Coldharbour will be created. If you speak with her before entering, she will be amazed that you managed to get this outcome:

"I don't know how you managed to pull this off, but the guilds are with you!"
