Quest-Related Events[edit]

Daneem is first mentioned by the people you ask about the harpy situation in Kozanset, you first encounter her in person when you go to speak with Magistrate Andrin at-Lehiel at the town hall. You will overhear the tail-end of their conversation before she leaves.

Daneem: "The harpies are much bolder. We need more coin, for supplies and the like."
Magistrate Andrin at-Lehiel: "I've heard disturbing rumors about your methods …."
Daneem: "Have you heard about the traveler stirring up trouble in town … and look who's here."
<She will then turn and leave, but not before a parting shot directed at you.>
Daneem: "Keep your opinions about our work to yourself."

After collecting the harpy eggs which were hidden by the mercenaries in the town and bringing them to Leja at-Lehiel in the town square, Daneem will interrupt your talk with her by coming by to give Leja a warning.

Daneem: "Go back to selling trinkets, Leja. You do your job, and we'll do ours."
Leja at-Lehiel: "You hid those eggs on purpose, didn't you?"
Daneem: "Say no more, child. We haven't time for troublemakers."
<Daneem then leaves.>
Leja at-Lehiel: "They're up to something. They must be."

Talking with Leja afterwards she suggests you go to the nearby warehouse and listen in the Gold Coast Mercenaries' meetings. Sure enough, you end up eavesdropping on Daneem and her shakedown of Foreman Malumah and the Baandari Udamaji.

<The trio walk into the building once you have hidden.>
Foreman Malumah: "This is getting tiresome. I almost preferred the harpies."
Daneem: "Harpies are the least of your problems if you don't pay up."
Foreman Malumah: "We've got your gold. No need to make threats."
<Daneem walks over to Udamaji.>
Daneem: "Let's see it then. Better not've shorted me."
Udamaji: "It's all there. We don't want to end up like the others."
Daneem: "Good. I'll be back next week. Prices might be going up."
<Daneem then walks out of the warehouse. Udamaji and Foreman Malumah soon leave afterwards.>
Foreman Malumah: "Come on, Udamaji. Merciful Ruptga, how long must we put up with these thieves!"

When you return to Leja to tell her what you learnt, you instead find her father who blames you for her being abducted by "harpies" along with other citizens. Once you find Leja, you find that it was mercenaries who took them and left them for dead on Daneem's orders. Once you return to Kozanset to report this to Magistrate Andrin at-Lehiel, Daneem will be standing near him. If you talk to her she will just be snide at you.

"I don't like your face outsider."

After you report to the Magistrate, Daneem will immediately try a refute the claims only for Leja to arrive on the stairs and confront her.

Daneem: "What nerve, running your mouth right in front of me!"
<Leka appears on the steps above.>
Leja at-Lehiel: "You've disgraced our town long enough!"
<Leja then throws a rotten harpy egg at Daneem.>
Daneem: "Ugh! A rotten egg? Don't think this is over, child!"
<Daneem leaves for the guardhouse.>
Leja at-Lehiel: "Gather everyone who will stand with us to drive these bad eggs out of town!"
<Leja then turns to her father.>
Leja at-Lehiel: "Father. The dead can't offer their forgiveness, but I can. Stand with us."

Once you rally the villagers and speak with Leja, a group of angry Kozenset citzens will drag Daneem out of the guardhouse and throw her before Leja.

Daneem: "Take your hands off me!"
Daneem: "Your pitiful town won't survive without our protection."
Leja at-Lehiel: "We can do without you. Go, and never return."
Villager: "And we'll run out anyone else who tries to bully us too!"
Daneem: "May the sands take your accursed town!"
<Daneem leaves, a villager yells a parting shot.>
Villager: "If we see you again, we'll throw you to the harpies!"
