Filbert Cienne is a Breton worshipper of Peryite found in Shimmerene during the quest The Dreaming Cave. He is looking for people to recruit into his Peryite cult.

He can be encountered again in front of the abandoned city of Orcrest, where he asks you to look for his missing friend and fellow cultist, Marthine.

The Dreaming Cave[edit]

When you find where the skeever graffiti leads to, you'll find Filbert speaking to Razum-dar.

Razum-dar: "Raz doesn't care who you worship! He just wants to know if your cult was attacked recently."
Filbert Cienne: "Peryite would welcome you! Our Prince accepts all kinds. And you'd be our first Khajiit!"
Marthine: "You'd be our first anything, actually."

Speak with him.

"Look Marthine! The sacred scribbles of Peryite have brought another aspirant to our holy fire!
Would you like to hear about Peryite? He may be the Prince of plague and pestilence, but let me explain how that's a lot better than it sounds."
You scribbled those skeevers on the walls to recruit worshipers for a Daedric Prince?
"What better way to find true believers? Since Daedric worship is against the law, only the truly faithful would know that a skeever is one of Peryite's sacred symbols!
Well, that and the dragon, but I've never seen one of those."
Aren't you worried about the Divine Prosecution?
"Those gloried constables? Why would I be worried about them? I don't think any of them care about the wonders of Peryite or the mysteries of the divine skeever.
Unless ... perhaps a judiciously placed pamphlet or two is in order!"
Are you familiar with the Court of Bedlam?
"The Court of what now? Is that a High Elf thing? They really are fond of their rules and regulations. And their courts. Lots of courts.
That's the great thing about Peryite—there aren't any rules! Well, at least none that anybody cares about."
How do I join your Peryite cult?
"You want to join? Well, this is embarrassing. We didn't expect anyone to accept the word of Peryite, at least not this quickly. We haven't figured out the specifics yet. Dues, uniforms, rituals. Things like that.
Could you come back later? Thanks!"

Unhealthy Preoccupation[edit]

He can met on the platform outside the gates of Orcrest. As you approach him you can overhear him mumbling.

""Trust me," he said. "Believe in our Lord of Infection and Pestilence," he said."

If this is the first time you have met, he will say:

"O, great Lord of Abundant Pus and Bountiful Vomit, why have you forsaken me?"

If you've met Filbert in Summerset, he'll greet you with:

"Wait! Didn't we meet once in Summerset?
I can't believe I prayed to Peryite for help and he blessed me with your familiar face! He usually only blesses me with abundant pus."
What's wrong? Also, did you just say abundant pus?
"Everything is wrong! My friend Marthine entered this flu-ridden city to recruit followers for Peryite, but he hasn't returned. I fear the diseased beasts inside have devoured him like a massive scab.
Please tell me you can help."
How can I find Marthine?
"Look for his belongings. He's always dropping things because of his numbing hand fungus. I would do it myself if it weren't for my responsibilities. If he's dead, someone has to carry on our sacred duties.
What do you say? Will you rescue Marthine?"
I'll enter Orcrest and save your friend.
"You will? Bless you, brave hero! May Peryite rot your teeth and cover your face in scabies!"
What's your sacred mission?
"To show the people the sickening power of Peryite and bring more followers into the fold.
Marthine and I want to find a way to prove that Peryite is responsible for the flu outbreak in Orcrest. The abject terror will really help with word of mouth."
What's wrong with you?
"Everything! My scalp is itchy, my bowels are irritable, my feet are caked in creamy fungus ….
Peryite has blessed me in so many ways. I want everyone to experience his sickening glory."

If you've met in Summerset, you'll also be able to ask:

What have you been doing since we met in Summerset?
"Wandering Tamriel to spread the good word of Peryite, along with various ailments.
When we heard about the flu in Orcrest, we ran here as fast as our mucus-filled lungs would allow. A proper pandemic is just what we needed to prove Peryite's power."

Once you've helped Marthine out of the city, he'll tell you:

"Thank you for saving Marthine. May Peryite bless you with a parcel of plague-soaked pillows."

Speaking with him after the quest:

"Without you, I would have lost my best friend. Actually, my only friend. Honestly, we don't even get along very well."
"You've done a great service for Peryite. If Tamriel ever falls to a deadly disease, it will all be thanks to you."

Houseguest Dialogue[edit]

"We are the Order of the Sacred Skeever! We wander from town to town, spreading the good word of Peryite and as many maladies as we can!"
"Have you seen the sacred scribbles? Ingenious, really. Only true believers know that the skeever is an honored creature, raised up by Peryite as a carrier of disease. If you see such a drawing, know that the Order of the Sacred Skeever is near."
"One of the tenets of the Order of the Sacred Skeever is to pay homage to our patron animal. I spent the last few nights in a skeever den, letting them nip at my fingers and toes. Don't I smell horrendous? Peryite is certain to reward my devotion!"
"Have you seen my partner, Marthine? He was supposed to meet me here to review the newest Order of the Sacred Skeever pamphlets. No? He probably ate something that didn't agree with him. He's got a sensitive tummy. I'm sure he'll be along eventually."
"I have interests other than my work as a founding member of the Order of the Sacred Skeever, you know. I enjoy cooking with moldy meats and vegetables. And I'm quite proficient with the lute. The strings make my blisters and sores bleed, though."
"Skeevers. Fascinating creatures. And beloved of Peryite, don't you know? \n\nWell, yes, he also loves Dragons, but those humongous monsters scare the dung out of me, so I'd rather you didn't mention them again!"
"That Orc food vendor, what an outrage! Serving skeever-on-a-stick like it was common chicken or horker! Skeevers should be cherished, adored! Eating one is … is … blasphemous!\n\nAnd I hear they can be quite stringy."
"Feel my head. Do I feel warm to you? I've been trying to develop a raging fever all week, but Peryite has yet to bless me with one. I wonder what I did to anger the Father of Skeevers this time."
"I study the many mysteries of the divine skeever. And you can, too! Well, as soon as we figure out all the specifics. Dues, uniforms, rituals … who knew there was so much involved in setting up a Daedric sect?"
"I remember you. Look, if you're still interested in joining the Order of the Sacred Skeever, we're almost ready to start processing memberships. \n\nAlmost."
"Some say the Daedric Princes are evil. That's a rather narrow view, don't you think? Is Peryite evil for cleansing the world with blights and plagues? And how could anyone so favored by adorable skeevers be bad? Not possible, I say."
"We really try not to use the word cult. We're the Order of the Sacred Skeever!\n\nWell, I am. And my friend Marthine. And a couple of nice people who took a pamphlet. Well, they looked at it. And put it back. But we'll be a proper society in no time!"
"I need a word for a group of skeevers. A scurry? A loathe? Maybe a skitter or a craven?\n\nSo many possibilities to choose from! Writing is hard, my friend. Hard and complicated."
"Someday Peryite will end all suffering with a plague that sweeps across Nirn. Only the most faithful followers of the Prince of Pestilence will survive. If continuing to live interests you, let me tell you about the Order of the Sacred Skeever …."
"Those Peryite's Chosen think they're so marvelous. Always looking down on others of the faithful. They say especially mean things about my Order of the Sacred Skeever. I prayed to the Lord of Pestilence to give them a pox. And not a good one!"
