A Childhood in Flames[edit]

He can initially be found at Daini's shelter.

Sormund: "I can't wait much longer, Safik. If Daini doesn't come back soon ...."
Galeneth: "Ugh. Don't get your beard in a twist, Sormund."
Safik: "She will be back any minute! Trust Safik! Here, have some soup while you wait. You love soup! Right? Everyone loves soup."

Speaking with him before Safik:

"Orkey's marbles, these cats are driving me mad. You here to help? Well, get to it! I've got schedules to keep, you know?"

Daini will arrive at the shelter after you have spoken with Safik.

Daini: "Safik? Galeneth? Ah, there you are. And Sormund remains? Good."
Sormund: "Not for much longer, Daini. I leave with the tide, with or without you."

Speaking with him before Daini:

"Go on and speak with her. But mark me, if she doesn't bring me something soon, I'm off on the next tide."

He sighs after you're done speaking to Daini.

Sormund: "What are you up to now, Daini?"
Daini: "What you asked, Sormund! Don't worry. You'll have your goods soon enough."

Speaking with him:

"So, it's a warehouse raid now, is it? Shor's bones …. Well, you'd best get to it. Don't do anything stupid, eh? I mean, this whole raid is stupid, but you know what I mean."

When you return from the warehouse raid with Daini, you'll find that Sormund has been kidnapped by Turo's goons. He can be found in a house along the coast.

Sormund: "Think you can beat old Sormund, eh? Do your worst, you flea-bitten bastards!"

Speak with him there.

"Well, tan Kyne's backside, am I glad to see you. Didn't get you or Daini did they?"
Not yet. Can you walk?
"Hrmph! It'll take a lot more than this to knock the wind out of Sormund's sails! I'll be all right. That cub, though … Safik. He's not suited for this kind of treatment. I'm … I'm worried about him. The others as well.
Bah! There! I said it."
Where are the others? Did you see where your abductors took them?
"No, but I can guess.
Turo may act the part, but he's not a romantic. He's an opportunist. He won't kill those scallywags if he thinks he can profit off them. Check the caves near the Dream-Drowner—his slave ship. Any luck, you'll find them there."
All right, I'll look for the others in the caves near the slaving vessel.

Speaking with him after freeing him:

"Off with you, now! You cleared the way. I'll make it out of here just fine."
I thought your relationship with Daini was just professional. Why the change of heart?
"Oh, don't think old Sormund's gone soft! I'm in this for the gold—pure and simple. 'Course, these cats clearly need help. If I can do good while doing well, so much the better.
Now listen, you'd better not say anything to my crew about this!"

He leaves.

Sormund: "I'll get the boat ready to leave. Meet me there when you find them."

Speaking with him before ending the quest with Daini:

"Thanks for the help back there, friend. Not that I couldn't have gotten out of that pickle myself, mind you.
Glad you found the cubs, too. I was worried that, you know … I wouldn't get paid and such."

After the quest:

"We're all done here, right? I'm anxious to put South Guard far behind me. Scenery's great, but the locals stink! Present company excluded, of course."
Sormund in Senchal

The Pride of Elsweyr[edit]

If you completed his quest in Southern Elsweyr before finishing the zone story's epilogue, he appears at the ceremony in Senchal Palace with Daini and Safik.

"Southern Elsweyr certainly isn't my home, but moments like these ….
Maybe it's not so bad to visit for a while longer."
So you're not going to return to Skyrim?
"Well, I didn't say that. But I'm glad Daini and Safik talked me into staying long enough to see this grand ceremony.
We'll all be setting sail for Skyrim soon enough, winds willing."
