"Transitus Shrines are the fastest way to travel among our castles and gates, unless the links between them are broken."

How can the links be broken?

"A castle's transitus link is broken if all of its resources—farm, mine, and lumbermill—are owned by the enemy, or if the castle is under attack and a section of wall or gate is heavily damaged."
