How low is too low?[edit]

Currently, the article states that enemies grant experience if they "are not too far below the player's level". This could stand to be a bit more specific. I've found that a 9 level difference between the player and enemies stop granting experience, but I'm not sure if this happens earlier. Schiffy(Talk) 20:16, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Well, I know enemies in Coldharbour (level 47, I think) are still granting experience to my VR6 character. Is that an 8 level or 9 level difference? I'll check again at VR7, I suppose. —likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 20:51, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Since you immediately become VR1 at level 50, I would call that an 8 level difference. For my example, I was level 23 and the enemies were level 14 Red Rooks. Schiffy(Talk) 21:13, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
For Veteran ranks, I think there's has to be a difference of 5 VRs or less in order to get maximum XP. However, I didn't know there was a point at which low-level mobs actually stop granting XP entirely. —Legoless (talk) 21:26, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Enemies grant experience if they are not more that 5 levels below player level (this is stated in the first paragraph, but verification is still technically needed). I'm not sure why the later paragraph says something else. Every Veteran Ranked character is Level 50, whether they are VR1 or VR16, so you'll always get some experience from anything Level 45 or above. There is a different scaling based on VR difference (eg VR1 to VR6), and they keep changing it, so I'm not sure what that is at the moment. --Enodoc (talk) 07:52, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

XP vs VP?[edit]

So on alot of quest pages, I've noticed that the rewards for quests past level 50 are noted in VP (Veteran Points, I assume). However, I can find no in-game mention of this. If at any time on a Veteran Rank 1+ character, you hover over your XP bar, everything is still measured in XP, both for progress towards the next rank and progress towards the next Champion Point. Is VP a term from an older update, or was it coined here? Schiffy(Talk) 18:18, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

VP was the old system of increasing Veteran Level. It was removed ages ago, but we ought to write a page or section detailing it somewhere. —Legoless (talk) 19:02, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
I've added a note to the bottom of Online:Veteran detailing the old system. Mentions of VP should be disappearing from quest pages anyway, as the XP reward details are being verified and converted to using {{ESO XP}}. --Enodoc (talk) 22:29, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Quest's internal difficulty setting[edit]

Assuming that this information still pertains to the current One Tamriel release, "each quest grants a certain amount of experience depending on your level, which is then passed through a multiplier based on the quest's length and difficulty, which is defined internally per quest," it would be nice to know which quests are set to Very Hard internally. Does such a list exist? — Unsigned comment by 12.222.251.3 (talk) at 16:33 on 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Quest difficulty is no longer a factor. It was based on the difference between the quest level and your character level, e.g. low level quests offered only a fraction of the XP if you did them late. —Legoless (talk) 19:26, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
Quest internal difficulty does still exist, it's quest relative difficulty (which affected relative XP) that no longer exists after One Tamriel. Quest XP is now based on character level and internal difficulty, instead of quest level and internal difficulty. --Enodoc (talk) 20:43, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
Would that not be the "length" factor mentioned by anon? —Legoless (talk) 21:44, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
Hmm, I guess. The "length and difficulty" factor was always a single entity to me, which we labelled as "internal difficulty" since ZOS defined it based on difficulty (Easy/Standard/Hard) rather than length (Short/Moderate/Long). Since the XP from quests is still passed through a multiplier defined internally, the factor still exists, and since it's only a label for our benefit, it probably doesn't matter if we continue to call it "internal difficulty". It continues to indicate the general difficulty of the quest, and now that the quests can be done at any level, it's probably a more valuable factor than it used to be. --Enodoc (talk) 13:06, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

1,95[edit]

There are several quests in Vvardenfell that grant an amount of XP roughly corresponding to 1,95 x base value. I don't know whether I've missed something in the current table, but just putting it here in case :p Tib (talk) 21:37, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

What level are you? Could it be the 10% cutoff preventing you from getting all the way to 2.25x ? --Enodoc (talk) 22:45, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

XP for kills[edit]

Would it be helpful to include here a chart of base XP for killing mobs and bosses as well?

Currently even though all NPCs are CP 160, the XP earned varies according to the player character level. IcyDeadPeople (talk) 18:28, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

10% of level xp gain cap[edit]

This cap no longer exists, players now can gain several levels instantly. — Unsigned comment by 81.200.82.154 (talk) at 10:04 on 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing this out mate... I'm inclined to agree although it's been a while I played my low-leveled alts, but this does definitely sound like outdated info. Will try to check this in game when I have time. Tib (talk) 22:09, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

In the text, it says 48,080 Xp to Level 31, but the table says 66,890 XP. Which (if either) is correct? 86.190.108.77 11:15, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

10% Group buff does not apply to quests, only kills[edit]

During one of the double XP bonus events the past year, I grouped with a friend and tested master writ turn-ins in terms of their XP.

There was no difference in XP awarded when in group vs. out of group, except the expected 10% when we threw in the Ring of Mara (which requires grouping).

The training trait on equipment has a note that it only affects kills. The group buff probably should too. Virtus753 (talk) 18:54, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

I've updated the page. —Legoless (talk) 09:25, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
