question - race[edit]

Is there any pattern to the race/gender/etc. of the Priests of Order? So far all of my Priests have been elves of one kind or another, but I haven't encountered that many. --Anoma lee 06:25, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

Looking at the CS, unlike the knights, there appears to be no pattern that determines the race of the priests, although there seems to be a slight majority of Imperials. Priests can be men or mer, but not beast folk. There are also only 2 varieties of female priests, one for Mania, and one for Dementia. Both female priests are Imperials. --Saruuk 01:34, 12 May 2008 (EDT)

Similarity[edit]

Has anyone else noticed that the Crystal Staves looks somewhat similar to Wabbajack? -Random Dude — Unsigned comment by 96.234.51.5 (talk) at 15:12 on 22 March 2009

Yes, I noticed that too. This may be because the Greymarch happens every 1000 years and the Wabbajack was a relic left over from one of those periods. Although it looks less refined than the Crystal staves, it certainly is a more useful weapon (as Crystal Staves are generally weaker/have less charges than staves of the same ability). --Hissanrach 23:13, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Black Soul Gems[edit]

Maybe it should be noted that this is a good way to fill Black Soul Gems with NPC Souls, since you do not get Murder penalty and Knights of the Order respawn and the Priest gets revives over and over. 24.139.103.22 23:32, 29 May 2009 (EDT)

Feel free to add a properly worded note to the article. --GuildKnightTalk2me 23:51, 29 May 2009 (EDT)
Thanks! You gave me something to do! Lirum 20:11, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Ebony Daggers[edit]

Am I crazy, or do these priests have the ability to summon a bound ebony dagger? Just like the regular Bound Dagger Spell, but with ebony daggers.--Arch-Mage Matt 00:52, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, the article says they carry generic daggers, so that could be what you are looking for. –Elliot talk 11:27, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I think I remember seeing Priests summoning Ebony Daggers as well. I'll have to see for myself, being that I installed a mod where all Priests carry crystal staves so the daggers are removed. Even if they can summon Ebony daggers they will not if they have a staff out. --Hissanrach 05:50, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
No, actually I know, in the font of madness underground place I saw a preist with an ebony dagger at level 3, so I killed him and the dagger vanished in a yellow light, just like a bound daedric dagger. Also, the priest in the picture on the page has an ebony dagger--Arch-Mage Matt 21:05, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
There is an "NPC-only" spell (accessible through the "psb" console command) named: "Bound Dagger" (Just like the normal "Bound Dagger" spell) Priests of Order summon ebony daggers this way. Why is that? Why make a different spell? It is simply beyond me. On the other hand this is the realm of madness is it not? — Unsigned comment by 87.202.72.66 (talk) at 01:17 on 25 November 2009
You don't need to use psb - try player.addspell 9400f. It adds a spell called "Bound Dagger", but not the usual one. The effect it raises is called "Bound Priest Dagger". –rpehTCE 05:34, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Priests of Order: After Main Quest?[edit]

After the main quest is completed and Order has left the Isles, can Priests of Order still be found inside Brellach or Pinnicle Rock? --Hissanrach 05:51, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

yes they can, but no knights are anywhere as far as i know. — Unsigned comment by 74.136.82.104 (talk) on 25 November 2009

Priest of Order Blind Monks!?[edit]

Upon approaching an obelisk i killed the priest and shut it down then i took his robes cuase they looked pretty cool. After i took them i noticed a strip of cloth over his eyes! Just like the blind moth priests! If anyone else has seen this please confirm it... — Unsigned comment by Khajitmarksman56 (talkcontribs) at 18:48 on 12 December 2009

thats just their eye style. their hoods dont have eyeholes, so they must be blind, right? right.--Arch-Mage Matt 19:21, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Are you sure the priest didn't have a headband on, like this? --VergilSparda 17:02, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Nope they have blindfolds — Unsigned comment by 70.218.224.65 (talk) at 00:24 on 27 May 2010
It was an older Imperial right? Maybe Nord. I have seen this every time for the first Priest of order you run into. MikeTalk 16:19, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
As far as I can tell thats the only one though. MikeTalk 02:06, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
I have experienced this too, but have no idea why it is. My only thought is that it may just be a generic Imperial NPC face, as seen when creating an NPC in the CS, the default face is blindfolded Corvus 23:43, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

That explains it, mine was just a guess anyway lol Corvus 10:54, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Unaffected[edit]

Priest of Order Robes (bottom piece i mean) aren't affected by telekinesis. I edited the page to show that bug. MikeTalk 16:20, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

also, when trying to hold them (L2 or LB depending on system) its off, can someone else confirm it for me? It might just be my game MikeTalk 02:07, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Reanimation Bug (Moved)[edit]

Yes, the reanimate effect is buggy sometimes, but this should be verified and described better before going back on the page.

Using the Staff of worms on a Priest of Order while he/she is "unconscious" causes him/her to zombify. When the reanimation effect wears off they glitch violently then spawn with the name "(character name)'s priest of order". They will be non-responsive and will actually defend you against knights of order and other enemies. This may need verification. --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 00:39, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

I tried this again it works and is useful in shutting down obelisks as the priest will attack the knights as they spawn. reanimate them to help. overload the thing then kill the now passive priest without any trouble at all reword this however you like and put it back up already!
Thanks for putting it up with better wording, should it be mentioned that the priest will still reactivate the obelisk? — Unsigned comment by 207.216.130.182 (talk) at 20:13 on 7 December 2010

Joining their ranks[edit]

Is it true that taking their robes and hood will confuse them into thinking you are one of them? 68.231.197.3 17:47, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

No, only Heretic and Zealot robes fool members of their faction into believing you're one if them. Dlarsh(T,C) 19:02, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

The article says they always have a leveled weapon[edit]

I just found a priest that didn't. It didn't say "always" but I think it was implied. Am I missing the weapon or do they sometimes just not have a weapon? dtm 03:12, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Loot[edit]

I don't know if its a glitch, but it seems like a lot... I am currently playing Oblivion and I killed one of the priests at the obelisk a little north and east of Dunroot Burrow, and he had 48 hearts of order on him. I haven't played in a while, so I don't remember a lot about this... but that seems like a lot to me. This happen to anyone else? SKADOOSHHH 00:41, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

The very first priest I killed, when on the way back to Sheogorath from that torture chamber (Xedilian?), had 36 on him, which rather shocked me. I haven't played much Oblivion for a couple of years, and I don't remember the priests being that generous either -- indeed, I remember having to scrabble for the extra hearts needed to unlock Chests of Order. 174.6.51.17 21:34, 9 July 2013 (GMT)

Leveling health and magicka[edit]

Would someone be so kind to perhaps add the health and magicka in the leveling lists?--C0rTeZ48 (talk) 12:09, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
