Kleppr

Kleppr is a Nord who manages the Silver-Blood Inn in Markarth. He is married to Frabbi and they have two children: Hroki, and Hreinn.

Kleppr wears a set of barkeep clothes and shoes, and carries an iron dagger, some common items and gold, and the key to Margret's room.

If Kleppr dies, Frabbi will take over all innkeeper services at the Silver-Blood Inn, including renting out beds, selling food and drinks, and giving rumors.

Dialogue[edit]

His greetings:

"Come on in. The Silver-Blood Inn has plenty of strong drink and clean rooms."
"If I can't get you something, I'm sure my wife will bellow at me until I can."
"Things are so much quieter with my darling Frabbi dead."
"This is the Silver-Blood Inn. I'll let you figure out who owns it by yourself."
"

Speaking to him:

Where can I learn more about magic?
"Any aspiring mage would do well to look for the College in Winterhold. Head there, and you'll get what you're after. Although our Jarl's humble wizard might be willing to help you too."

When asked for rumors:

"Did you hear? The Hall of the Dead is closed. Brother Verulus isn't the most popular man in town right now."
"Got a witchhunter in town, from the Priesthood of Stendarr. Keeps asking questions about that old abandoned house."
"Degaine the beggar got himself kicked out the Temple of Dibella. Caused quite the ruckus."

His goodbyes:

"Remember. Ale is cheaper than blood in Markarth."
"Guards are free to search your room. Uh, just keep that in mind."

Conversations[edit]

Kleppr and Frabbi have some scripted conversations which can be triggered at some specific points:

  • Get close to Frabbi

Frabbi: "Unlike my husband Kleppr, I watch after our guests."
Kleppr: "What was that you said, venomous wife of mine?"
Frabbi: "Nothing, you pig-headed oaf!"

  • Sit on a chair in the inn

Kleppr: "Frabbi, a customer needs a drink!"
Frabbi: "Too lazy to give him [sic] a drink yourself? Oaf."
Frabbi: "You want a drink?"
What's on the menu?
Frabbi: "Depends. Are you thirsty, hungry, both?"
Open general merchant's interface

Frabbi: "All the wood furniture in this inn is rotting to the core. Do you know why that is, Kleppr?"
Kleppr: "I don't know, my darling wife. I assume you're going to tell me?"
Frabbi: "It's rotten because the wood is cheap and its [sic] soaked with ale! Now we'll have to replace all the furniture before bugs set in."
Kleppr: "Don't worry, my love. Just show the bugs your adoring face, and they'll scurry away in complete fear in no time."
Frabbi: "You're an idiot, Kleppr. Why did I ever marry you?"
Kleppr: "Not a day goes by I don't ask that question myself, my dear."

Even his own son notices their constant bickering:
Hreinn: "Father, why do you and mother fight so much?"
Kleppr: "We don't fight, son. We, um, talk. Loudly."
Hreinn: "Will I need to talk so loudly with my wife when I get married?"
Kleppr: "Dibella's Heart, son, I hope not."

Kleppr: "How are your chores coming, my son?"
Hreinn: "Today I've cleaned the linens, washed the floors, and checked in on all our guests."
Kleppr: "Ah, my son, you'll be a fine innkeeper someday, like your father."
Hreinn: "But mother says you're a terrible innkeeper!"
Frabbi: "That's right! Worst innkeeper in all of Skyrim!"
Kleppr: "Never mind your mother, Hreinn. You listen to me, and you'll be a great man one day."

Kleppr will also converse with Ogmund about performing for his patrons:
Kleppr: "Playing tonight, Ogmund? Everyone here is anxious to hear the old ballads performed by the True Skald of the Reach."
Ogmund: "Son, I know thousands of the old ballads. If I played all of them, everyone in this inn would be as grey as I am before I finished."
Kleppr: "Uh, right. Maybe just one of the popular songs, like "The Slaying of the Falmer Princes"?"
Ogmund: "That's a sensible lad. Now fetch me drink."

Special Delivery[edit]

I have a purchase agreement for you.
"Ah, Bolli finally got someone out here. Well it's about time. I've been waiting for weeks. Well, thank you for bringing it I suppose. Have a good day."
Aren't you forgetting something?
"What? Oh! How could I have possibly forgotten. Your reward, of course... of course. Here you are. So sorry about that."

The Forsworn Conspiracy[edit]

Did a woman named Margret stay here?
"Ah, yes. Rented the nicest room we had for a whole month. I think she's sitting by the fire. Poor girl."

If Margret died then his response will be different:

"Ah, yes. Rented the nicest room we had for a whole month. Best we all forget about her. Bad luck to talk about the dead in Markarth."

Eitherway it'll lead to:

Do you have the key to Margret's room?
"Of course. But I can't just hand that over. Privacy, after all."

I won't tell anyone. Promise. (Persuade) Passed: "Well, you seem like the honest sort. Here you are."
Failed: "Right. You adventuring types would never go into a room just to steal everything."
Passed: Continue investigation
Failed: Nothing
Maybe I could rent the room? (Bribe) Passed: "Well, I guess Margret isn't around to complain. It's yours."
Failed: "Sorry. Margret might be dead, but the room's rented."
Passed: Continue investigation

Hand the key over. Now. (Intimidate) Passed: "All right. I don't want any trouble. It's yours."
Failed: "Are you serious? I hear more threatening words from my wife."
Passed: Continue investigation

Never mind, then. "Did you need anything else?" Nothing

Fortunate Son[edit]

Would you consider selling sujamma? I have a bottle your customers can sample.
"Of course. How much?"
Free of charge. If your customers like it, then I'll sell you more.
"For that price? Sure."
Five gold should be enough for the bottle. (Persuade)
"(?)"
Fifty gold. This is rare sujamma imported from Morrowind.
