Odar

Odar is a Nord citizen who works as the cook at the Blue Palace in Solitude. While he is content to remain a cook, his humble profession allows him to overhear a great deal of rumors, including gossip about the public's lack of faith in Jarl Elisif.

He sleeps with the rest of the staff in the chambers behind the kitchen between 8pm and 6am. He always starts his morning with a two-hour breakfast before spending the rest of the day strolling around the kitchen. The only exception to this routine occurs upon completion of Tending the Flames, which leads him to visit the courtyard outside the Bards College every day between 1pm and 4pm.

He wears a chef's tunic with a matching hat and a pair of shoes. He carries a spare belted tunic, an iron dagger, and a selection of common items and gold.

Dialogue[edit]

When approached, he will either talk about his profession or share some court gossip:

"Jarls come and jarls go, but a good cook stays for a lifetime. And I'm a very, very good cook."
"Most of the time, people just forget I'm even here. That's why I hear so much good gossip."
"Everyone knows General Tullius wields the real power Solitude [sic]. Elisif? Ah, she's a figurehead. A puppet."
"Folks at court won't admit it, but Sybille Stentor scares us all to death."
"Somethin' just ain't right about that Sybille. You know, I've never seen her eat a thing? That can't be natural."

When you finish your conversation, he will return to his work:

"All right. Back to slicing, dicing and baking."
"Back to my errands."

Conversations[edit]

When he visits the courtyard of the Bards College, he may stop for a brief conversation:

Odar: "Sometimes I like to think my cooking is like playing the flute or singing a song."
Jorn: "I've tasted your food, Odar. It's better than most songs I've heard."
Odar: "How do you put up with that fop Fihada?"
Jawanan: "I once saw Fihada put an arrow in between the eyes of a Blackblood Marauder at five hundred paces. You don't put up with a man like that. He puts up with you."
