Sinmir at the Bannered Mare

Sinmir is a Nord and a permanent resident of the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. He quite obviously dislikes the Whiterun and Imperial guard, and if Whiterun is taken for the Stormcloaks, he will be the new commander of the guard.

He wears a set of banded iron armor, an iron helmet, a pair of iron gauntlets, and a pair of iron boots. He wields a leveled battleaxe of the best possible quality.

At the beginning of the game, he spends his entire day in the Bannered Mare and will sit on any of the seats around the fireplace in the center of the room, complaining about the local guards and Commander Caius.

If you conquer Whiterun for the Stormcloaks as part of the Civil War, Sinmir will be named the new commander of the guard, although he will not leave the Bannered Mare due to a bug. Lastly, as new commander, he will have the questionable honor of tasting the poisoned mead during the Thieves Guild quest Dampened Spirits.

Dialogue[edit]

Normal greetings:

"The security in Whiterun is terrible. Shameful is what it is"
"The guards in this city are all lazy and undisciplined. Things need to change..."
"Commander Cauis [sic] walks around Dragonsreach like a preening rooster. I could do his job blindfolded...."

As commander of the guard:

"I'm commander of the guard, now."
"The Stormcloaks can keep this city safe better than those Legion lapdogs."

Dampened Spirits[edit]

Sinmir: "Well, Sabjorn. Now that you've taken care of your little pest problem, how about I get a taste of some of your mead?"
Sabjorn: "Help yourself, milord. It's my finest brew yet... I call it Honningbrew Reserve. I think you'll find it quite pleasing to your palate."
Sinmir: "Oh come now, this is mead... not some wine to be sipped and savored."

After pouring himself a taste of the poisoned mead, Sinmir will start to feel bad:

Sinmir: "Shor's Bones! What... what's in this?"
Sabjorn: "I... I don't know. What's wrong?"
Sinmir: "You assured me this place was clean! I'll see... see to it that you remain in irons for the rest of your days!"
Sabjorn: "No, please! I don't understand..."
Sinmir: "Silence, idiot! I should have known better... to trust this place after it's been riddled with filth."
Sabjorn: "I beg you... please. This is not what it seems!"
